Reminds me of when they suggested having Marina on the ign site. Damn, she would have been cool! Throwing the enemies around like ragdolls!

And Treasure is the best in the business, putting out consistently excellent and original games. Even Warioworld? Yes, even Wario World. It was a really fun game (while it lasted). Did you play it?

Reminds me of when they suggested having Marina on the ign site. Damn, she would have been cool! Throwing the enemies around like ragdolls! She is actually third party. There are a lot of little rules, but it can be vary ambigious. This is what I have noticed. When it's third party with Nintendo as the publisher. -If the Game was not published by Nintendo in all regions (look at Meteos) -If Nintendo did not publish the franchise from the beginning (look at Baten Katos) -Nintendo only published one title in the series (Look at numerous games) Games like Elite Beat Agents and Geist are 2nd party, but developed by a third party development team. But, Nintendo retains the rights to these products.

I liked WarioWorld, but it had the potential for so much more...
That said, I think the fact that most of the Assist Trophies are similar is the reason why they're Assist Trophies. Would you really want an SSB where 89% of the cast uses swords?

Saki's a pretty cool Assist; I like it. And the sword people aren't ALL the same. Goroh "has no grace" so he runs and slashes, while Lyn will teleport near a player and slash them. Gray Fox bounces around the stage slashing, and Saki, from what I gather, runs and slashes then fires lasers.
This is the fifth character Sakurai has debunked, as well as saying--to some degree--they would be cool as a playable: Goroh, Lyn, Gray Fox, Little Mac, Saki. Wonder how well this bodes for the final roster. Is that final mode an Assist fighting mode? *wonders*
Also, Mischief Makers was published by Nintendo only in the West. It was published by Enix (now Square-Enix) elsewhere, making it a weird property. I don't doubt it'll appear on the VC as it was one of more popular N64 titles worldwide (and it IS Treasure), but I don't think Marina will pop up anytime soon. Her only other game was a cameo in a Playstation One fighter called Rakugaki Showtime.
Though Marina Liteyears would be THE most fantastic character to have in the game. Mischief Makers = my favorite N64 game, besides Goemon's Great Adventure ;p *goes off to make a moveset*

I liked Wario World a lot, myself. *shrugs* To each their own. Anyway, Saki looks pretty cool here. I intend to DL Sin & Punishment ASAP when I get my WIi online, so seeing him in Brawl makes me happy. ^_^

Yeah I agree in fact all that these assists have in common is doing damage with sword. they all fight in different style. This is in fact a lot more variety than it was with pokemon in Melee - just look at Blastoise, Chikorita and Staryu -all that they do is just shooting projectiles in one direction.

So did I. It wasn't a bad game - it was a short game. Wario World was good fun, and I really wanted them to make another one. I loved exploring every nook and cranny of every world

Cool update...never played S&P though so...yep. Saki looks like a girl, with his short shorts and ponytail.

Wario World was cool, but it needed to be longer. The gameplay ruled, but too short.

Actually, the rights to Sin & Punishment are completely owned by Nintendo versus something like Elite Beat Agents (owned by Nintendo/iNiS) or Stafy (owned by Nintendo/TOSE), so it is technically first-party, even though it was made by Treasure... You mearly have to look at the copyright of a game in question... If Nintendo is alone in the copyright, its first-party. If Nintendo shares the copyright with someone, its second-party, with only a few exceptions (namely Intelligent Systems, Retro Studios, and Monolith Soft). Kirby and Pokemon are the only second-party frachises with a fighter in Smash Bros so far.

Please excuse my tone, I didn't mean to come across like I was hollering at you... I really wasn't. I didn't mean to sound like I wanted to start a lecture. I was just saying that they don't seem all that similar to me... they each have their own unique properties and attacks, and that the variety is there. I didn't mean to sound like I was mad at you for saying that or anything... my actual tone was very different. You didnt crucify the game or anything like that... you didn't say anything out of line or crazy... I just disagreed with it, and reading it again, I probably should have reworded a few things to make it sound less like a lecture and more like a disagreement. OH! Well... yeah. Apology accepted. And I apologize as well. In retrospect, my response was overly defensive and I shouldn't have snapped at you like that.

Would you really want an SSB where 89% of the cast uses swords? Noone is complaining about too many fist fighters.

Well, fighting with your body is another story. Because yeah... Mario, DK, and Bowser all punch. But each one has their own "flair." Mario does your standard martial arts, DK does a lot of street brawling moves, and Bowser's basically a wrestler/grappler. And lest we forget all the gunfighters. Fox is all martial arts, Samus is all power weapons, Snake is military combat. The swordfighters are all just as different. Link (and Y. Link) use broadswords and a bevy of tools, Pit fights with dual shortblades and a "staff", Marth uses only his longsword and fancy skills, Ike has a dual-handed sword and also kicks/punches (watch the videos sometime), Meta Knight uses rapid slashes as well as "demonic" powers to fight, etc. etc. If anything, we need to bitch about all the "psychic-types" being too similar. I mean, c'mon. Zelda, Ness, AND Mewtwo were basically the same character if you took away their specials. On a completely different but semi-related note, Takamaru would be a Japanese-style swordfighter so he'd be totally unique
