This character, the prince of the heavenly seas, appeared in the Japan-only release "Densetsu no Stafy". He’s shaped like a star, but maybe he’s really a starfish???I’ll do it! I’m doing it!...He never says anything like that. His body shines brightly. He boldly does a spin attack!But...he’s weak? He’s rare for an Assist Trophy, as he can be attacked.
Sometimes you may wonder "Stafy, why did you even come here?!" – but that’s part of his charm.Owwwwwww!

Well this is better than not adding him at all. And while the official website spelled his name as "Stafy", that is most likely the official spelling. End of alternate spelling controversy! FryGuy64, are you still going to continue referring to him as "Starfy"? I hope not.

So hey, it looks like as far as NOA is concerned, his localized name really is "Stafy"! How about that. This really is kind of a shame. Out of all the Japan-only, non-MOTHER, non-Marth characters eligible for playable status, I thought that Stafy was the most likely. I'm sure parrot's kind of bummed that he's been relegated to playable status as well. Sorry, buddy. On the other hand, him being an AT isn't exactly a huge surprise, either. At least he's in, and looking pretty cute, too! EDIT: If anyone's wondering why my post is pretty much identical to parrothead's, his post wasn't there when I started writing mine.

I'm quite happy Stafy made it into the game, I'm a little sad he is not playable though.
It's also neat that he can be attacked as well.
Hopefully this means some other Japan-only titles will get AT treatment.
EDIT: @ Parrothead. Weren't you the one who sent in the Stafy requests to Sakarai's character poll?

A very, very suitable character as a playable one, and like in many other cases, their importance itself is what made them Assist Trophies (and not the lack of it).
I'm still hoping his games appear in English someday, while I'm happy that he's ornamenting this game. I wish for his sister Stapy to be a trophy and for Stafy to be playable in the following Nintendo crossover fighting game.

This is sad and happy at the same time. I'm happy that Starfy at least got in Brawl and sad that his not playable. This is...GREAT!

Now the Japan-only characters that are most-likely at appearing in SSBB are Takamaru, DeMille and Sukapon / Skapon. EDIT: @ Parrothead. Weren't you the one who sent in the Stafy requests to Sakarai's character poll? Actually, I sent in four DeMille requests. Three by using Google's translator (which was before I encountered Excite.co.jp's translator) and three different computers (because of them having their own IP addresses) to avoid making Sakurai think that some of the DeMille requests are from the same person. I also used different names and words. The fourth one was given to someone at the Kirby's Rainbow Resort forum to translate without using online translators and send it to Sakurai.

Now the Japan-only characters that are most-likely at appearing in SSBB are Lucas Fixed. I don't see Takamaru being playable, it doesn't look like Sakurai wants to make Sukapon playable, and DeMille is way too obscure. I really think Stafy was the only chance.

Takamaru still has chances because he is the japanese Pit in terms of popularity. And Masked Man could be the last Japan-only character.

This update made me laugh. It's a shame Stafy isn't playable, and more of a shame that he's such a weak-ass assist trophy. An ASSist Trophy if you will!
With Jill and Stafy down, we're rapidly running out of suitable playable characters not already announced. Come on Sakurai! Hold some awesome for us ;D
And yes, Parrothead, this is the end of the Stafy name controversy.

Now the Japan-only characters that are most-likely at appearing in SSBB are Takamaru, DeMille and Sukapon / Skapon. That's true, because Takamaru, DeMille and Sukapon / Skapon are the most-requested Japan-only characters in the SSBB poll. Repaired. You forgot to replace "are" with "is". Lucas is already confirmed. Also, remember Marth? I forgot to mention him, because I was focusing on newcomers. Even though, Marth appeared in SSBM, which was released worldwide, he is still a Japan-only character. However, Nintendo might release the upcoming Fire Emblem DS title worldwide, which stars Marth. Why not confirm the Japan-only trophies in SSBM as worldwide characters and stuff?

Ahh, I expected him not to be playable, but an AT is better then just a trophy as he still shows up in battles. Too bad he'll be known as 'that useless star AT' though..

This is a cool update, hopefully there'll be an extra thing that let's you use Trophys as playable characters, but oh well! He looks cute! ^_^
Now we hold our thumbs for Demille...
