Whoa, what's with all the Geno hate. First Krystal, now Geno. Just take the characters are they come guys. If loads of people hated the, would they be in this game? There is a large fanbase for these characters so understand they get just as much right to be there was Wario or Pit.
Was going to make a "change" American Kirby, but I'm not that skilled at Fireworks.

It's a shame. Megaman would have worked.
I'm not even a fan of his games, I never beat any of them and only played a few of the NES titles... but even I can tell you he would have WORKED in Brawl. The moves, the style, the background.... Megaman would have added even more gaming history to the series, and when thinking of Videogame LEGENDS... Megaman is usually towards the top of the list.
So it's a shame he didn't get invited.
Geno has fans, but he's not a LEGEND. One damn game. He's not a gaming icon. He'd fit in the game fine, but I dont' think he should even be considered a 3rd party character. I mean, he's from a Mario game, weather it was made by Nintendo or not... he's still a Mario character. His icon would be the mushroom. I won't be upset if Geno got in, I think that would be cool... but I think it would be a shame to call him a 3rd party character.... even if he technically is.

Well, I agree that Super Mario RPG got a great cast and such, but I agree with 8bitretroboney! Geno looks reeeeaaaaly weeeird. (No pants....) So I'm saying it again (thus irritating everyone again) Demille is more likely... but cheer up, maiby Megaman can still make it...
It seems that, in regards to Geno, most of you are only hearing the loudest and most obnoxious Geno fanboys and rolling with that. I mean, that's okay, especially if you're against Geno being playable in the first place, and fanboys are a pretty rational reason to not get into something as they ruin the experience for the rest of us. I dunno if a non-fanboy perspective would put you a little more at ease or what, but I might as well try anyway.
The reason I want Geno in above all others is because he's a puppet. Yeah, that's right--it's got nothing to do with him being a badass, although he does fit that stereotype and I won't argue against it. Geno's a puppet, and he can Shoop Da Woop with his wrists; interesting design, pants or no pants, and several gun-related powers that could be translated into Brawl without being "ZOMG REAL GUNZ." That's pretty much all there is to it.
Also, Retro and Ryuk: Kirby doesn't wear pants. Neither does Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong, or Sonic for that matter. And Snake has already expressed interest in taking off his pants while talking about Zero Suit Samus. I guess that just makes them too weird-looking to be included, huh?

I'd still like to see Pac-Man. Nothing unpurist there when he appeared before Mario himself.
I was getting hyped for Mega Man and his 20th anniversary. He could have worked.
Geno doesn't fit in well. I wouldn't put him in, unless it's for promotional reasons (the sequel of Super Mario RPG or its Virtual Consle port)... But from what I've seen these months, I can already imagine people agreeing only when he's shown as an Assist Trophy, as if the director's decisions were what rules the importance of video game characters.

I'm not against Geno because he has no pants mr. fabulous. I understand the guy has his share of crazy fans that want him in, but he's just another party member from an old Mario game. He ain't no main character, antagonist or close side-kick from the Mario universe and hasn't been used in another game ever since. I know it's partly because of Square, but really, having him in would be like having Paper Mario's Vivian playable. Or Pauline. Or Waluigi if he wasn't an AT already.

In their defense, their not a humanoid without pants.

Well I gotta say that I like puppet characters too, like Shyna Nera Shyna from Silhouette Mirage... well... she's a puppet in a way... and I like balanced gun attacks too... and yes, DK, Diddy, Kirby, Meta Knight etc etc. lacks pants... but... there's something that does'nt compell me to like him... I don't know what...
nocturnal YL: That's still quite early. The combat should feel better once you fill up all skill slots.

nocturnal YL: I took a look at my past Switch games and found that more than 40% of the games I played contain some kind of fishing.

nocturnal YL: A bit late, but I started Aiyoku no Eustia. I have nothing to say about the story yet because the demo lasted 6 hours and I haven't got past that. There's no save data transfer feature, fast-forwarding takes a while, and I stopped to read at some points.

nocturnal YL: It has the best file management feature I've seen. 60 normal save slots, 6 autosaves, and 12 more slots automatically saved at decision points. And the save data can be moved, deleted and given comments. It's the most flexible I've seen on console.

Nester the Lark: I think I've gotten a better handle on the combat in Ys X, but I still don't think it feels quite as good as in Ys VIII and IX.

nocturnal YL: Interesting; that's the opposite of what I think. Which part are you in now, by the way?

Nester the Lark: I'm just at the beginning of chapter 7. I've seen very divided opinions on the combat among Ys fans. I don't dislike it, but maybe I'm just used to Ys games having faster combat.

nocturnal YL: Aiyoku no Eustia is quite something. I thought I've somewhat hardened myself having gone through dark stories like Fire Emblem (Jugdral, Hoshido/Nohr, Fódlan) and Surge Concerto, but I'm still stunned. (Still doesn't beat real life, though.)
Nov 10, 2024 15:17:23 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Aiyoku no Eustia has branched endings, and I've reached two. I'm surprised to see three familiar names in the credits: Ceui (OP vocal in Atelier Lydie & Suelle), Yoshino Nanjo (voice of Kiria in TMS♯FE), Yuu Asakawa (Megurine Luka's voice provider).

nocturnal YL: It'll be quite a while until I'm done with this game. Each individual arc takes at least 6 hours, and there are extra stories. I recall reading somewhere that this game takes 60 hours to finish.

Nester the Lark: Quick update: I'm starting chapter 9 in Ys X. Overall, I've been enjoying the game quite a bit.

nocturnal YL: I will go offline for a few days. My family is travelling to South Korea. I should be back around next Friday (22 Nov).

nocturnal YL: I haven't been to Korea for more than two decades, so I look forward to it.

Nester the Lark: Just finished Ys X. I'll write up my thoughts when I get a chance.
Nov 21, 2024 15:49:57 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Looking back over my previous Ys rankings, it's funny how most of the numbered entries are ranked in descending order: VI > Seven > VIII > IX. So, does Ys X buck the trend?? 🤔
Nov 21, 2024 15:55:24 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Looking forward to your thoughts!

nocturnal YL: I'm back home! It's been a pretty fun trip. Being able to see falling leaves on a mountain path full of trees in person made the trip worth taking.
