So we now know the final roster after almost 2 years after it was announced. It begs the question: What are your thoughts on it? Love it? Hate it? Me, I'm cool with it. My only gripe is that Wolf (a Fox Clone) beat Krystal (a female with a unique moveset) but beyond that I like it. Only problem is all the characters I really wanted appeared before this Edit by Fryguy64Just thought I'd drop a couple discussion points into this first post as I was going to do a similar topic. I'm upset Toon Link didn't get his own moveset. In a video though, I saw him with the Wind Waker, I wonder how he uses that...

For the most part I like the final roster... the only thing I didn't like about the roster is:
1. Wolf (we don't need three Star Fox characters who happen to be clones of each other) Krystal should have been in over Wolf
2. some veterans are not decloned like Toon Link (which I am very pleased that he disproved that stupid "but the graphics don't fit!" argument but I still hope he has his unique FS which he becomes Four Links instead of another cloned FS with Triforce Slash) and Ganondorf (why TP Ganon instead of classic ALTTP Ganon for his FS?) and Ness and Lucas are clones of each other

^ a taunt?
Its a fucking great character list and I won't beleive anyone that says otherwise. Would it have been nice to have no clones? Yeah. Did we need 3 Starfox characters? Nah. Should Mewtwo have returned? Probably. But all in all, we've gotten 13 characters more than Melee (counting PT's 3 Pokeymans, Sheik, ZSS), and 14 (/17) new characters. Can anyone honestly complain about that? Surely not.
BRING IT ON.

The characters that -are- in are okay, but the characters that got left out? Disappointing. I don't plan to boycott the game or anything. But it's a shame really.
Here you have this absolutely amazing game that showcases NIntendo's best... and what happens?
-We get two Fox clones (due to convenience). -Metroid gets only one rep, despite it becoming one of Nintendo's largest franchises since Melee. -Despite six international games (and six before that), the Wars series makes only minor appearances in stickers and trophies. -A hand full of highly anticipated franchises didn't make it. Though not as comparable as Wars (in terms of franchise size), the underwhelming presence of Custom Robo and Golden Sun are particularily noteworthy. -Characters expected to be decloned... are at most, getting Luigi-esque movesets. Not a big deal for the most part, but disappointing when it comes to Ganondorf. -We did alright with villains, with which I'm glad. (Bowser, Ganondorf, Dedede, Wolf, and Wario ain't bad. Plus all the Boss characters). However, it's a shame Sakurai didn't seem interested in expanding the female cast. In fact, the only addition is Samus comes out of her suit now. Given how many opportunities there were to add females, even in the wiggle room of this roster (assuming the same number of characters), the lack of any new women-types is unusual.
Someone at another forum made a rather good conclusion for it though. The roster we all hoped for was traded off for the Subspace Emissary. Was it a good trade?
I think I'm okay with it. I'm still pumped with it. And I've got another month to get over my grievances... and I'm more or less all the way there. The Subspace Emissary makes up for my misgivings on the roster. After all - even if the unlockables are rather mundane, the starting roster is absolutely -incredible-. So I'm not overlooking that.
So here's for Nintendo giving us an HD and downloadable game content!
Haha, I kid, I kid. Here's for e-Reader characters!

It's a cool roster. Sure it's got no Takamaru, Sukapon, 3rd Party Megaman etc., but I only wanted those to be in because I already had Lucas, Dedede, Diddy, etc for the most part (Except Megaman damnit). I think ROB is a strange/awesome G&W-like addition and Toon Link looks adorable. However: - Ness his FS isn't even PK Rockin'. Lame - Swordless Ganondorf. Only because if they had enough time in Melee to make a unique moveset for him, probably involving that big sword of his, chances are he'd have a more swordy move in Brawl too. Swords. - 3 Starfox characters that are clones, who's great idea was this. Other then that the roster's great and I can't say I'm dissapointed. Looking forward to wi-fi ownage with Dedede and Lucas

Personally? I think the roster is excellent... but then I thought it was excellent before all of the recent leaks came about.
It's a bit of a shame that most of the secret characters aren't original (and two clones of Fox? Didn't we learn the hard way with Mario, Luigi and Dr. Mario that this was a bad idea?) I still have NO idea what ROB's moves are like, and I would have preferred to have seen Mewtwo than Lucario (both would have been fine).
Now to find out HOW they were all unlocked!

Like I said. The starting roster is great. It's just underneath that... not much to get excited about.
EDIT: I mean the unlockables. Outside the roster, the game is incredible. The SSE is so awesome that just having the Melee cast would've been cool.

Waitwaitwait, who the wizzle said they would be clones in the first place? Not Sakurai, that's for sure. The video we saw is all cutscene. Don't get your panties in a twist! Anyway, the roster seems allright. I'm horribleishley upset that some of my personally anticipated characters (Emphasis on Krystal and Megaman) didn't make it, but I can live through this, 'cause it doesn't mean the game won't be friggen AWESOME, right?

I'd better change mine too...when I feel like it. Waitwaitwait, who the wizzle said they would be clones in the first place? Not Sakurai, that's for sure. The video we saw is all cutscene. There are fight videos too.

The videos confirm that Fox, Falco and Wolf all have similar moves and Final Smashes. Ness and Lucas have very similar moves and Final Smashes. Still not sure about Ganondorf... Marth and Ike may also be clones, although that's not 100% verified.

I'm not disappointed. I don't really have enough concrete evidence to say how clonish some of the characters are, and as long as there's some variation, I won't mind. I'm fairly pleased. A little more female representation would have been nice...but that's my only complaint.

Fortunately women are well-known for their preference of Xbox and PS3 over the Wii, so lack of female reps is no big deal.
Oh wait.
