Dark Samus wouldn't be a clone? Kinda like how Wolf wouldn't be a clone of Fox? It doesn't matter... Dark Samus is really a Phazon-cloned Samus.
Oh, and Metal Gear originally came out on MSX2. It got ported to the NES.

Dark Samus wouldn't be a clone? Kinda like how Wolf wouldn't be a clone of Fox? It doesn't matter... Dark Samus is really a Phazon-cloned Samus. A clone (really a reborn Metroid Prime) that doesn't use a blaster, morph balls or screw attacks. She doesn't walk, instead floating like Mewtwo. Unlike Samus, she can create clones of herself. Instead of using an arm cannon to shoot plasma like Samus does, she fires Phazon radiation. For her FS, she could morph back into Metroid Prime, either as a Ganon esque Spider form, or a Super Sonic/ Octopus esque Head form. Also, there is no Zero Suit Dark Samus, so her FS couldn't be cloned fully. Wolf, unlike Dark Samus had no moveset with which to build upon, instead needing one built from the ground up. With him, they could give him Fox's moveset without contradicting the source material. Oh well. Again, at least she got a trophy, and Ridley is a boss. No Kraid or Mother Brain tho!

Except Metal Gear still wasn't made by Nintendo, and neither was the MSX.

Sakurai sure did make one hell of a game, but we are the consumer. We buy the game that he creates. We give him the billions of dollars (yen?) that he has. So why shouldn't we have a say on who gets in? Do you remember the poll? The high ranked characters such as Geno, Krystal, Takamaru, Animal Crossing character, etc. don't even get in as assist trophies. And Ridley had four votes!? Why isn't he a character?! . Keep in mind we only had half the poll. So, there is some room for characters like Wolf, who was only on the poll once. However, he is suppose to be majorly popular in Japan (as well as here too) so that might explain it. Also, this was how Melee worked out. Wario and Pit were expected to get in and in the end they weren't. But come Brawl, Wario and Pit were in the game. This is the nature of Smash Brothers. Not everything can be in, and Sakurai tries his hardest to get everything in the game. But seriously guys, can we talk about how good this game is rather about how bad it is. I mean, we complain about this game more then bad games.

MAN. I'm annoyed when people endlessly gripe about a game's faults, but it's even more annoying when anyone who complains about any part of a game at all is accused of being an ungrateful whiner.
it's perfectly possible to think a game is amazing and criticize its shortcomings at the same time! LET'S BRING THE LOVE BACK IN HERE.

I don't have a problem with people voicing things they are disappointed about or expressing their opinions, but it's just when people say things like "It's a slap in the face that X isn't in the game!" or "Sakurai is playing favorites with Y!" or "Sakurai is ignoring us and we are the audience!" and other things that accuse him of doing less than his best to make a great game that I get upset.

well, there's definitely a difference between "Sakurai made some really poor decisions" and "SAKURAI IS PERSONALLY SPITTING ON MY HOPES AND DREAMS", sure.
I think it's ridiculous that the Wars series got such pathetic representation, for instance, but it's still impossible to deny the insane amount of thought and effort that went into the game.

Just wanted to add my thoughts about everything right now... I've pretty much gotten over all my dissapointment. ^_^ I just cannot stay mad at this epic game. After watching the "clone" characters in action, only Toon Link looks like a pure clone to me. Everybody else has different A moves, sometimes even different or altered B moves, and of course, they all have different strengths and weaknesses. And even if Toon Link IS a clone, I love him to death; I asked for Wind Waker representation, and I got it! <3 And of course there's Diddy...Dedede...Trainer...Olimar...really, overall, this is a great roster. Far from perfect, but great. But what I really love is the sheer amount of other stuff in the game. We have the big epic amazing SSE; the stage builder, which will bring fun for years to come; online battles; HUNDREDS of unlockable music, trophies, and other things; many added and upgraded features...this is definitely a game I will enjoy for 10+ years. I still love you, Sakurai.

LET'S BRING THE LOVE BACK IN HERE. Yes! Thank you for this post! Just because I criticize the game doesn't mean I think the game is less amazing. I can be a fan of something or someone and still criticize them. It is annoying that if someone criticizes something, he's accused as an ungrateful whiner or be told "if you don't like it, don't buy it!" I have high expectations for Super Smash Bros. because I know Nintendo's games usually have very high quality when they put so much love into them.

Um, an AT and Stickers = Something. That's more than Nothing. Cute. I consider stickers inconsequential. They're a neat game mechanic, but otherwise meaningless. My image gallery can let me look at pictures of Wars characters until the wee hours of the morning. And the AT, likewise, is a collection of sprites that I can -also- see in my gallery, because it's just sprites ripped from the game. Conclusion is yes, nothing. It's nothing in Brawl that didn't already exist. The only Wars representation in Brawl is what Sakurai ripped from Intelligent Systems games and promotional art. So sure, it's more than nothing, but only by an extremely small margin. Frankly, I'd prefer nothing from Wars than that.

Ahh... I think I understand what you are coming from Masamune. You feel that Sakurai couldn't be bothered to make something new based on Wars that he just up and ripped old artwork and sprites and put them in the game just to throw a bone at the Wars fans.

Forgot to mention this, but I'm sorry Masamune for misspelling your name. Um, an AT and Stickers = Something. That's more than Nothing. Cute. I consider stickers inconsequential. They're a neat game mechanic, but otherwise meaningless. My image gallery can let me look at pictures of Wars characters until the wee hours of the morning. So sure, it's more than nothing, but only by an extremely small margin. Frankly, I'd prefer nothing from Wars than that. Ok, this is the problem. Your really just grasping at straws. I mean, you got an AT. It doesn't matter if it's sprites or not but you got one. One that is just as much a part of the game as every other AT, and helps like all the others (or most I guess). But listen to what you are saying. You'd rather take out the AT and stickers (and trophy if there is one, I don't know them yet) and have nothing at all to remember a beloved franchise? It's ludicrous. The problem I'm having isn't that people are voicing a different opinion, but that's ALL their vocing. Every single person that is interested with Brawl will buy the game and love it, but all they can seem to do now is gonzo. It's almost always negative; rarely is it positive. Just "Sakurai didn't add this" and "Sakurai shouldn't have added that". We've known the roster for a few days now. I believe it was finished Thursday here, but most of us knew it by Wednesday. We've had almost a week of grieving. I know it hasn't been that long, but can we really move on. We know the game will be awesome; you can tell by all the other things we have seen. Seriously, it's old at this point and I'm agreeing with Tei. Take the bad with the good, and move on. phew. Sorry to cause drama, but we really just need to go back to the start of the dojo. Discussing how awesome this game will be and how we'll kick each others butts online.

Yes I would. A few ripped sprites and art doesn't do anything for me but make me upset. If it was nothing, then... I'd be happier. It would be like Sakurai doesn't know Advance Wars even exists. That way it would be more like he just forgot about the games, rather than just not giving a damn about them.
