According to Nintendo Everything, the president of Kadokawa Games, Yoshimi Yasuda, has teased that Rodea may be getting released outside Japan: It took some time to deliver [Rodea] to everyone, but the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Wii versions were rebooted. I think that we can share some sort of notification of a overseas release in the near future, so overseas users please look forward to it. I am an overseas user, and I am looking forward to it!

Worth mentioning that both the Wii U and 3DS versions are coming, and they're due out this fall.
Wow, I've actually got a third-party game to look forward to on Wii U!

This is a RUMOR, for now. (EDIT: Or not.) If you remember last year before E3, Comcept handed out some pamphlets with a very Castlevania-esque symbol on them. It was thought that it was related to a Koji Igarashi project, but nothing ever came of it. We'll, now it's back as the website swordorwhip.com, and it was tweeted by Tyrone Rodriguez of Nicalis. Further details from NeoGAF claim that it's for a game called Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, and a Kickstarter will go live on May 11 (one week from now). I don't see any actual connection to Koji Igarashi, but supposedly Michiru Yamane is involved with the soundtrack. ( Source) I'm a little skeptical, but we don't have long to wait before finding out how much of this is real, so it has my attention. I just hope it's actually Igarashi's game, and not just some other project that everyone is mistaking for his game.
OK, as I was posting that, the website changed from the symbol to a guy sitting in a chair asking you to choose between a sword or a whip. The guy looks like Koji Igarashi, and the title bar reads "Sword or Whip - #igavania". I think I'm convinced.

I know a lot of people were getting fed up with Igarashi during the DS days, I wonder if people's anger towards Konami will overcome that.

Iga was divisive, for sure, but he made solid games, and they're generally more accepted than David Cox's Lords of Shadow series.
I'm kinda hooked on this website. I kept voting for whip and getting different cryptic message from Iga until he called me "Haagenti the Helpful," and I was invited to join "Clan Bullwhip." Apparently there are a bunch of different clans for each weapon. Don't know what it means yet, tho.
Some of his messages include "What do you do when you find yourself without a castle? You build another," "Of course you understand that this is not my final form. Two dimensions cannot hold me," and "What is a man? Find out in a week." He also gives status updates on which weapon is winning.
Also, try the Konami Code, but with A and B reversed.

I don't know if any of you are fans of the indie game Freedom Planet, which came out for PC in 2014 and for Wii U last October, but the sequel was announced on Christmas day. Here's the animated teaser trailer for it: I quite enjoyed the original Freedom Planet. It looked like a Sonic game, but played like a Treasure game, and the whole thing was like a big homage to Sega Genesis platform games. However, it sounds like the sequel will be moving away from that a bit. Based on what's been said about it, the gameplay will be about the same, but the presentation will rely less on nostalgia. The three main characters have been drastically redesigned, and while the graphics will still be 2D pixel art, it'll have more its own style. I'm really excited for this! It won't be out for a while (a beta is estimated for 2017), but it's already been confirmed for a Nintendo platform. Likely Wii U, and possibly NX. Official site: freedomplanet2.com

The Wii version of A Boy and His Blob is getting ported to PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 19th.
Well, that was unexpected. But good to know that others out there will get to play this game.

I think it's pretty common practice by now that games get ported to rival systems of the next generation.

Well, this is a bizarre bit of retro goodness.
Not to sure if anyone here is interested in LEGO Dimensions, but one of the newest level packs, The Midway Arcade Level Pack is out now, which features 20 different Midway arcade games in it.
The Midway Arcade Level Pack comes with a buildable Gamer Kid minifigure and G-6155 Spy Hunter vehicle and Arcade Machine – all playable in the game, and unlocks more than 20 classic arcade games from Midway Arcade as an exclusive level. These classic games include Seven Twenty, Badlands, Blasteroids, Championship Sprint, Defender, Defender II, Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, KLAX, Joust, Joust 2, Marble Madness, Paperboy, Rampage, Road Blasters, Robron, Spyhunter, SuperSprint, Timber, Toobin, Cyberball, Vindicators and Xybots.

And the trailer for LEGO Dimensions phase 2 appears . . . To make it the craziest crossover ever . . . So many different franchises . . . so many characters . . . and THAT ending . . .
Also while it's not shown in the trailer, an attack helicopter from LEGO City Undercover has appeared in promo imagery, so that (formally Nintendo exclusive) content may be in the game.

The next main Sonic game has been announced, and it seems to be a sequel to Sonic Generations. It's also confirmed for NX.
They also announced a new HD 2D Sonic game called Sonic Mania, but no mention of any Nintendo platforms. It's being worked on by Christian Whitehead, who also did the modern Sonic CD port, and I believe is also doing some work on Freedom Planet 2.
