Izuka said it's not a sequel to Sonic Generations.

I would take that to mean that it won't draw from older games (ie. no remakes of Green Hill Zone, etc), but the presence of both modern and classic Sonic seems to imply that it's taking its gameplay cues from Generations. (As opposed to Lost World.) I would still like to see the Color powers, though. I also like how the trailer says the game is from the same team that made Colors and Generations, as if it's trying to say "Don't worry, the Rise of Lyric guys had nothing to do with this!"

I guess I can take a fourth game in the Un-color-ations trilogy. Woulda been nice to see something completely new, though.

You might remember Darksiders II being a launch title for the Wii U. Well, the original Darksiders is being remastered, and surprisingly, it will get a Wii U release (along with PS4, XB1 and PC) sometime later this year. ( Source) I was kinda interested in this series (it's often compared with Zelda), but I've never gotten around to checking it out. Might have to finally jump in.

This looks promising. Here's an indie game called Battle Princess Madelyn that's described as being like a mix of Ghouls 'n Ghosts and Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap. It's currently scheduled for both Wii U and Switch (and PC), and is due later this year. Sounds like my kind of game! The creator describes how it came about: My daughter wanted to be in Ghouls ‘n Ghosts and fight “Green Head”, I said it was someone else’s game but I could make her one that was like it. Then she said “But girls can’t be knights, Daddy. Only boys…” to which I answered “Pshh…What color do you want your armor to be?”. The answer was pink 😉 And that’s how this game started. Here's the teaser trailer:

Meanwhile in Japan: www.famitsu.com/news/201702/21127417.htmlAn old Jaleco arcade game Soldam is getting an eShop-only sequel. Does its graphics style remind you of anything? It's interesting that a Switch launch game is announced only 10 days before the system comes out.

Capcom is bringing back its six classic 90's Disney NES games in one collection for the PS4, XBone and PC (but not Switch strangely enough), with a rewind mode, time attack (with online leader boards), boss rush and the ability to view concept art.

I wonder if the lack of Switch support has something to do with the fact that they're NES games, and maybe Nintendo has some policy about bundling together games that would otherwise be considered Virtual Console. Anyway, Battle Princess Madelyn is now on Kickstarter. It's also (re)confirmed for Wii U and Switch (as well as Windows, PS4 and Xbox One). Got my eye on this one. Hope it turns out as good as it looks!

I wonder if the lack of Switch support has something to do with the fact that they're NES games, and maybe Nintendo has some policy about bundling together games that would otherwise be considered Virtual Console. Like how Mega Man Legacy Collection was released on the 3DS despite it being essentially a compilation of 6 NES games and NES Virtual Console is a thing on the 3DS? I'm under the impression that Nintendo doesn't want to have Nintendo system emulators that aren't their own. Nintendo's own NES emulator isn't nearly enough for the features in that game.

Just wanted to share this.
Here's the latest trailer for Battle Princess Madelyn:
The fact that the game is inspired by Ghouls 'n Ghosts, and the trailer includes footage from a silent film reminded me of this old ad from the early '90s for Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts:
So, I asked the developers if that was intentional, and they confirmed it was.
Also, the film footage came from a 1908 film called Legend of a Ghost about a young lady who becomes a knight and must travel to the kingdom of Satan to retrieve some Water of Life:

Man, that really looks like G&G. It makes me wonder how far you can push the homage card until it crosses over into infringement territory.
Regardless, that's another game for my Steam wishlist.

Mega Man 11 is a thing: Also, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 are coming to Switch next year with amiibo support, as well as a collection with all 8 Mega Man X games. ( Source)

I like how they're finally embracing 3D graphics. Any idea on which studio made it?

I've only seen the developer listed as Capcom so far.
I'm glad they're not doing the retro 8-bit style again. It was a fun novelty for Mega Man 9, but can't really carry the series long-term.
