As my first post since my hiatus... Yellow Link. I don't have a picture right now, but if Link drinks the Great Fairy's Tears or Rare Chu Jelly, he turns gold as evidence that he's been vitalized by the juice. It's interesting, but like I said I don't have any ACTUAL evidence other than my word. Less seriously, Old Manondorf is Christopher Lee. =P

As good a guess as any. It's the best in game example of a golden tunic, although the beta gold tunic still fits better. Dunno, I'd mention all of them.
Speaking of, if you need help writing the article for your new site, Fry, I'll be glad to contribute it.

I will more than likely need help writing up the Smash Bros. cameo pages for the main playable-character series. These will be treated as separate pages to the main lists of cameos, and will cover all three games. I'll have to put one together as an example, and then others can help out. I'll pick an easy one... like Ness

Sounds good. I guess the first one I'll do is Mario to get that out of your way. I've still got notes from a failed nostalgia guide too, plus CrappyCaptureDevice's new series- Mario is one of two character's he's done. And yes, Ness would be easy.

I come bearing three possible alts, from Melee! Two are kinda meh: Crowned Jigglypuff has Peach's crown, and blue Dr. Mario may be based on real life scrubs. Some doctors even wear purple gloves with their scrubs.
And finally, blue Ness may be based on young Ness from Magicant in EarthBound. He can be seen at 3:26 in this vid:

After seeing Jigglypuff referencing Noddy, I think nobody can deny that's actually Peach's crown.
Sakurai loves playing around with Jigglypuff since game 1 when it was given Kirby-like movements.

Alright, I've read through this entire thread and I don't remember anybody finding this costume. So not to long ago, I was looking to buy a ROB off of Ebay (already bought and received one, actually) and I've run into this colored ROB in a few different auctions: Compared to the yellow ROB in Brawl: If you look at the real life yellow ROB, its arms are darker than the rest of its body. The same can be said about the yellow ROB in Brawl, but the Brawl yellow rob has two spots of the same color on the front of its base whereas the real life ROB does not. So, I dunno what that's about. And having some parts being black on the Brawl yellow ROB (that aren't black on the other costumes) isn't helping my case either. The ROB in Brawl is obviously darker, but I believe the reason for that is to increase the difference in appearance among the ROB "costumes." If the yellow ROB in Brawl was actually designed like the yellow ROB in the above pictures, it would have looked too much like the grey ROB. So the designers might have darkened it up to make it look different, while still retaining the reference. (Just a theory, not saying it's actually what happened.) Funny thing is, I don't ever remember reading about any yellow-colored ROBs being manufactured anywhere. It makes me wonder what the deal is with this yellow ROB. At first, I thought that maybe it was a discolored ROB that had been sitting in the sun for the last 25 years, but that color doesn't look like the type of discoloration old plastic tends to get, not to mention the neck and part of the base are the same color as the regular American NES-colored ROB. So what does everybody think?

My first thought was a cigarette stained ROB- though God only knows the circumstances where that could happen.
But it looks to selective. If that were the case, all of it should be that odd yellow color. So I'm stumped too.

Another big weakness is that Gold ROB has orange arms, while real yellow ROB's arms are khaki. Not to mention that Gold ROB's base pole is the same color as the rest of him, while yellow ROB's is whitish. It's interesting, but it seems too different at least for me.

The real world yellow ROB is just a normal ROB with faded plastic. This is waaaaay too much of a stretch.

Basing the colour scheme on a ROB that has been discoloured by age/smoke/sun? Not just that, basing it on an AMERICAN ROB that has been discoloured by age/smoke/sun?
Not sold, I'm afraid!
I think we have exhausted the ROBs. I really, genuinely think the colour schemes aren't based on anything in particular.

I always thought that the yellow R.O.B. was based on Diskun. He is black and yellow, too, you know. And most of R.O.B.'s palette swaps are usually based on Nintendo hardware. You have the Japanese R.O.B., and the American R.O.B., and the R.O.B. with American SNES colors, and the R.O.B. with Diskun's colors. The green one is from one of the R.O.B. enemies in the Subspace Emissary and the blue one is made-up because we need a Blue Team color. Personally I would have loved to see a R.O.B. with Virtual Boy colors. R.O.B.'s head would practically resemble the console itself! Maybe in SSB4...

I'd have preferred a continuation of the console theme rather than what they seem to have done (like Diskun ROB, which was decent but meh, and that hideous blue ROB,) i.e., Wii ROB (a white and blue ROB, if you remember the hack you'll know what I mean,) GCN ROB (I'd go with violet and black here,) and maybe even make green ROB all motherboard-y.

Motherboard-y? That reminds me of a clear Game Boy back in the 1990's. This is what the Green Team R.O.B. should be based on. He would look awesome! On that thought, I think the Blue Team R.O.B. should be based on the original Game Boy Advance. Again, I think the Red Team R.O.B. should be based on the Virtual Boy. Red R.O.B.'s head would practically look exactly like the console itself! Maybe in SSB4. Okay back to topic... maybe the yellow R.O.B. could be based on the Color TV Game. It is mostly yellow with bits of black, too.

Red ROB was Japanese ROB. Virtual Boy ROB would definitely be cool, but would probably work better as a sort of "Dark ROB" in the same sense as we have dark Pit, dark Zelda, and Blood Falcon.
It's definitely the right shade of yellow, at least for the arms, but what about the lighter body? I'm pretty sure the box wouldn't be the basis for that, so I'd need to see the console itself to determine that.
