The game looks very good, and I've been hearing positive stuff all round. There's a chance it could still be garbage, but I've never seen so many different play styles integrated so well into a coherent package.
I'm more excited about this than anything else on Wii at the moment, which is an impressive feat!

Aye, it's easily the most exciting Nintendo Wii title I can think of for me. Wario Land and Captain Rainbow are cool as well, but I thought the premise of this sounded awesome when I first heard it, and it continues to impress. Bring it over here! ^_^

What on the page is supposed to be "interesting?" Also here's the first 9 minutes of D:DoC (watch the moment at 5:43) and some gameplay of swimming in a flood. Flood gameplay.

Here's some interesting info on D:DoC, it was originally supposed to be an "epic" game. Following info taken from Nintendo Everything.comSo, here’s something interesting. Monolithsoft, the developers of Disaster: Day of Crisis, was originally approached by Nintendo back in early 2006 and was asked if the team could deliver an epic game in nine months, the time at which Wii would launch. Monolith accepted the task as is already known, but the team eventually hit a bump in the road. The overall feel emanating from the game was that it simply wasn’t fun, as a large majority of the game was based on walking up to people and saving people with the push of a button. It was at this time, in October/November of 2006 that it was decided to put the game on hold. The content up to that point was canned in favor of a new schedule/budget. The current elements of Disaster were considered and the development on the title was restarted. Other news worth noting - Developers began working on Disaster again in early 2007, following Nintendo’s approval - 2006 build had very little waggle functions and used the classic controller - developers delayed it into 2008 so that the game could be rethought and add in waggle - Developers want to make a sequel, but that will only happen based on sale numbers. However, Monolith is mainly an RPG developer, so the producer will probably want to make an RPG game instead.

I do find it odd that this epic action title is done by the same people who did Baten Kaitos and Soma Bringer. But then no more weird than Golden Sun and Mario Golf sharing a developer, I guess

Well, I'm getting it when it comes out, so that's one more vote for awesome Disaster. Unfortunately, this means you guys are waiting on Nintendo Europe's legendarily invisible marketing to sell the game for you to get a chance on it Strange that the US is waiting on Europe though... Is this a new policy?

Maybe Reggie doesn't want to recant the comment about their not being any other holiday titles made by either him or Cammie.

Here's some more info on the development of D:DoC from this Japanese video interview with Monolith Software and Nintendo. It's in Japanese though, with no subtitles but here's an english summary from Gamekyo.com. - Disaster : Day of Crisis was a long and hard project to develop says Monolith Software (this is their first action game for the Wii), Nintendo has helped Monolith Software to finish their game. - Nintendo worked on Disaster : Day of Crisis to make it more accessible to a large audience, hardcore gamers as well as casual gamers can both appreciate this game. - Nintendo is not surprised by the low sales of Disaster : Day of Crisis in Japan, this is a new franchise with a very special concept, we can't expect more. Nintendo thinks that the game will sale in the future though. - Wii Motion Plus wasn't tested for Disaster : Day of Crisis, Nintendo thinks that Wii Motion Plus is not needed for this type of action game. - Monolith Software confirms that a new RPG is in development Also here's a video of the French version D:DoC.

Disaster: Day of Crisis is out in Europe today! I've already been hearing some very good feedback ("Wii game of the year" kinda thing). I've not had a chance to pick it up yet, but has anyone else? And what are your thoughts?

I don't have the game but the reviews for it are pretty good but not perfect (but that's what I was expecting). It seems to be scoring above 80% in most reviews though, so that's good considering the long and troubled history of this games development that it wasn't some glitchy, horrible, rushed to release mess (like Alone in the Dark) and turned out to be a pretty good game. I still want this game.

Man this game is EPIC. I actually don't care about reviews, they have many flaws. I think this is gonna be one of the best games for wii.
