I always despised that Reggie fellow... He doesn't care about anyone, Mother 3 proves it, his greatest crime to the Western world.

Reggie loves his charts too. The D:DoC thing is ridiculous. Nintendo is barely putting anything out this Holiday season, how can they ignore DoC? Just release it and just for the novelty of it, actually advertise it. If people know it exists, maybe they'll buy it. After playing Mother 3, there's no way it would've got released here without some extreme localizing. Like our version of the Magypsies would just have them all as normal women.

Mother 3 and Fire Emblem 4 among others would have very hard times going through localization. Tons of things would be edited. Just give the games a gosh damn T rating. E10 is the new T, T is the new M.
DoC though. This is why Reggie is evil.

This ain't good for NA, D:DoC didn't even sell in the top 50 games last week in Europe. Source.

Totally not bothered, as I'm quite happy playing it It has received no promotion or advertising here though. In fact, all of Nintendo's advertising right now seems to be going towards promoting Mario Kart DS and Nintendogs AGAIN. Only this time with a girl band playing them. Nintendo seems to have sunk none of its advertising budget into traditional gamer games. Hell, I hardly even saw any ads for Smash Bros. when that hit the shelves.

I don't watch much television, but I haven't seen much Smash Bros. promotion on German TV, either. But they advertise Wii Fit and Brain Training/Brain Age ("Gehirn-Jogging" here) again and AGAIN since ages.

I spotted a Disaster commercial on Dutch television yesterday, so they do seem to be promoting it.
I also saw a Mario Galaxy commercial several times lalely. What's the deal? Are they promoting a year old title as THE Christmas Wii game? What happened to Animal Crossing, is it now delayed for Europe? It seems likely, what with all the translating these kind of games usually go through.

The following is a rumor! Someone E-mail Nintendo customer support to see of D:DoC was going to come to NA and was told that it has been announced for NA but there is no release date yet. It seems likely, what with all the translating these kind of games usually go through. It's that "evergreen" thing of games that Nintendo is doing of selling games for a lot longer than normal. In NZ they have 2 commericials promoting old games (probably taking from Australia), one showing a women playing Mario Kart DS, then Nintendogs and Animal Crossing WW, another promoting Mario games on the NDS with footage of MK DS, New Super Mario Bros and shockingly enough Super Mario 64 DS and then ending with a still shot of the previous 3 games box art with Mario Party DS and Mario & Sonic at the Oylimpics box art as well.

After Captain Rainbow, another Nintendo-published non-non-gamer Wii game that bombed? I admit that I won't buy Disaster, but I'd get the first named game if it was in Europe. It probably wouldn't sell much worse than Disaster... I wonder how in the world the third-party game Carnival Games could sell over two million units so far? It's sad to see that a party game that received average and poor reviews from critics gets that much attention and original, well-made games with positive reviews get overlooked. Even the Japanese sales figures of it are higher than Disaster's. vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=7221®ion=All

I hope that rumor is true, Da Robot. It looks like a lot of fun.

They had COMMERCIALS! ADVERTISEMENTS! PUBLICITY! I can't watch TV without seeing another piece of shit party game for the Wii, or another one of those fucking Petz games for the DS. These games sell because people see them on TV and realize that it's out there. I've never once seen a commercial for Okami, or No More Heroes, or any other game that is good, but no one gives it the time of day. That's why they sell bad.

Over 2 million units for a simple game which is neither well-received nor comes from an established franchise is still somewhat special, though, but yeah, you are right.
I remember back in 1999 and early 2000s there was a game series called "Moorhuhn" which gained high popularity in Germany then. The first game, which was originally an advergame for the Johnnie Walker whisky, was actually a very simple one, you had to shoot down as many flying chickens as possible in 90 seconds, nothing what wasn't there before. However, the game got much publicity thanks to a lot of reports by the yellow press and private TV channels, and was even criticized by animal rights activists, and reports about office workers who played too much Moorhuhn at work arosed. Countless people downloaded that little game. Of course, it didn't take long to the start of big marketing (games for cash, plushies, comic books, the usual stuff) and the release of several sequels, and tons of clones were made by other people. If any games get that much attention by German (non-gamer-orientated) networks, it's usually because they are "too violent" and "killer games"...

Nintendo expects that gamers will already know about these great titles, but alas its not true. I believe I already told my story of two college gamers who had no idea about any Wii game other than Wii Sports.

I just started playing the game (on hard difficulty and on just beat the second level and first target training range) and it's pretty good even I'm died quite a few time, though the contiously draining stainma and lack of health items makes it a bit more difficulty even more so when people you rescue want one of your first aid kits.
Also I really hate bursting into flames after smashing open a crate and worst part is the flame crates seem to be randomly placed.
Finally the real time danger/event camera is pretty cool.
Also I'm curious, how many people here started on normal diffuiculty instead of hard?

I just completed the game (but didn't save, so I have to beat it again) and I noticed an interesting credit/title in the credits of D:DoC . . .
. . . "NoA Product Testing" (and bunch of people that worked for it).
I don't know if that helps confirm there is a NA version in existance, but it does confirm that D:DoC has been inside NoA, so that should be a little bit more hope for those in NA who want the game.
