Oh man! How could I forget Foxtrot? Jason and Marcus are always talking about Nintendo.
One time, the two of them are playing a NES and the Mom comes in and tells them that they should play a real game, like Baseball. So they put Baseball in the NES.
Another time, the older brother, Andy, gets addicted to Donkey Kong Country and slacks off on his school work. So the Mom breaks the cartridge.
Another strip from the same year has Jason mentioning Super Mario Galaxy, years before the Wii even existed!

On the day SSBB was released, he went to his local retailer to pick it up.
He pre-ordered it, and handed over his receipt, which was written on papyrus.

In this one very good show called Xiaolin Showdown, one of the main charcters, Kimiko, is the daughter of the president of a game and toy company. He looks alot like Iwata...

In the first Gremlins movie, there's a Coleco Donkey Kong in it: Some Game & Watch handhelds appeared in some movies. For example, here is the Wide Screen version of Manhole in the 1989 movie, K-9: I can't find a screenshot of this next one, but did you know that the Game & Watch version of Donkey Kong appeared in the 1984 movie, "Iceman"? I still remember seeing it.

In the German comedy show "Die Wochenshow" (literally "The Weekly Show", 1996-2002), there was a fake commercial for the "Gay Boy", a fat and rather big gay guy dressed in a similar manner to the guy in BDi's current avatar. Then they presented the new "Gay Boy Color", much slimmer and smaller and dressed in colorful clothes. If I remember right, I didn't even know what "gay" really meant back then (was about 10 years old) and found the Nintendo reference just funny. ;D

You mean it was a parody of both Game Boy and Hard Gay? It that even scientifically possible?

You mean it was a parody of both Game Boy and Hard Gay? It that even scientifically possible? According to Wikipedia, Hard Gay became popular in 2005. But the German show ran until 2002. The "Gay Boy" was just like a (fat in this case, since the original Game Boy is "fat") stereotypical gay guy in leather fetish outfit (who is also parodied by Hard Gay). And the "Gay Boy Color" was like a stereotypical gay guy in a very colorful rainbow shirt (and slimmer and smaller, like the Game Boy Color). That was so many years ago, I can hardly remember today.

There was a scene in the Mary Whitehouse Experience that I can't find anywhere. It was David Baddiel dressed as Mario on a Game Boy screen experience "real life" by being unable to talk to women and getting drunk.
My memory is a little hazy, but it was an awesome show nonetheless. You can find most of "History Today" on YouTube.

Just saw a little bit of the movie Jarhead and a soilder says "what are you gonna do when you stay home . . . get to the 9th level of Metroid?" While another soilder replies "there is no 9th level . . . It just starts over again." (quotes may not be exact but they definitely say Metroid, even though Metroid does not use a level structure).

There's this cheaply made series of movies known as "Josh Kirby: Time Warrior". I couldn't stomach watching more than a few minutes of the first one, but a kid was playing SNES F-Zero in it.

Look! A Japanese TV show has old Nintendo playing cards in it! (near the very end).
