This topic is about Nintendo games and other related references seen in movies, television shows, cartoons, comics, manga and other types of media. For example, this animated .GIF below shows Marty McFly playing Wild Gunman in Back to the Future Part II: Does Nintendo Database need this kind of information? If not, then either you or I should lock this topic.

It doesn't, but keep it open as a general topic anyway. There's loads of these, and people might find them interesting.

It might be too broad to include movies or shows that just feature someone playing a system. Or mentioning a game. Make it more like an actual reference.
Like those two mustachioed meat hat makers in Chowder. Obvious reference to Mario and Luigi.
Stuff like that.

I remember a Mario reference in My Life as a Teenage Robot on Nickelodeon years ago.
Two guys called the "Hammer Brothers" were trying to destroy a dam. They wore red and green hats and overalls and resembled (and sounded just like) Wario and Waluigi. They even used the exact jumping sound effect from SMW when they jumped off the dam!

There was an episode of Muppet Babies that was dedicated to video games. I remember that they had actual footage from some of them. The games I recall being referenced were Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., Legend of Zelda, and Frogger.

And one episode of muppet babies had a referance to that SEGA game where you play as the space ship opa-opa or something like that.
I also remember this one movie where one kid says mortal kombat is the best game ever, and the other says that, while it's a very good game, Donkey Kong is the best game ever. Then: "Donkey kong sucks!" "Wll you know what? You suck!"
Something like that.

As I told in this thread, those German " Tony Total" comics from the 1990s had some Nintendo content: 10/94: Stunt Race FX / Wild Trax3/95: Donkey Kong Country / Super Donkey Kong8/95: Uniracers / UnirallySuper Mario Wiki has bunch of Mario-related stuff: Animation (e.g. American Dad, El Tigre, Fairly OddParents, Futurama, Muppet Babies, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons, Tiny Toon Adventures) Movies (e.g. The Wizard ) TelevisionVirtual Boy appearances (Planet Virtual Boy): Movies (The Secret Agent Club, Runaway Bride, Tokyo Eyes, Virtual Girl) Game & Watch appearances in different kinds of media (tricOtronic.de): Visit www.tricotronic.de/ (site doesn't allow direct links) and click on "did you know...?". You'll learn about Game & Watch appearances in an older pre-commercial trailer of the German TV channel Viva, in the 1983 German movie "Die Story", in the 1989 American movie "K-9", and in a 1983 Swatch advertisment.

The fairly odd parents had an episode where there was a contest and one childs fairy had to save him from an ape. When the contest started, the ape was throwing barrels down those construction bar thingies at the fairy, and the fairy was dodging 'em.

But I remember, in the 'Simpsons' Mario appeared several times. And so did Donkey Kong. They saw how close Homer resembled Donkey Kong.

Gah! Does everyone here watch Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network?! What madness! I stopped when they canceled Rocko's Modern Life, Invader Zim, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold, Doug, etc.... How dare them.
