It'd be nice if those of you posting YouTube videos also mentioned what the video was showing.

The costumes seemed like a good idea at first.

Well, here's some screens of the Foxtrot strips mentioned earlier and more! Nintendogs and DS reference Brawl reference Pokemon reference Wii Fit reference Wii reference And there are WAY more references than those ones!

Here's another comic (though it is a webcomic solely based on Nintendo.......)! Here's a good one: The website to read all of them is: www.brawlinthefamily.com

I always found it bizarre that Team Rocket, an organization dedicated to hunting and stealing rare Pokémon, almost exclusively use Rattata and Zubat, two of the most common Pokémon around.

Yes, but imagine how many Zubat and Rattata they own! They probably have a stockpile of millions!
Although it is still strange that the villains simply concede defeat when you beat their Pokémon. It's not like in Yu-Gi-Oh where their life force is directly tied to the battle... They could still duff you upside the nut!

In case my avatar wasn't enough of a hint, there were a couple new Nintendo costumes in this years Homestar Runner Halloween cartoon.

There were more references than just the costumes. The Majora's Mask Moon also makes an appearance while Strong Bad shouts "What a totally un-frustrating way to play a video game!" and Homestar sings Saria's Song, causing the Poopsmith to dance like Darunia.
There was also a non-Nintendo game reference in there - Pom Pom was dressed as Pooka from Dig Dug, and met his doom by being inflated until he popped.

Kinda reminds me of an idea I had to make the Trainer more involved with the Pokemon battles. He'd have his own HP and would be able to defend his/herself if all his/her Pokemon got KO'd, mainly using the commands available in the Safari Zone: Throw Rock (or Pester Balls even), Throw Bait (probably the apple-shaped Poke-Food), and Throw Poke-Ball (which means you'd have to weaken them using only rocks or Pester Balls first).

So if you lose the battle, you start throwing rocks at the other trainer's Pokémon? How sportsmanlike.

I probably should've mentioned that it only applies to Wild Pokemon battles. Of course that wouldn't mean that the game's designated "evil" Trainers (i.e Team Rocket) wouldn't play dirty.

Well if they're doing it you should too. Against the designated evil Trainers only.
I had a similar thought involving HMs, notably Cut and Flash: A knife and a lantern. For the love of God Venusaur needs SolarBeam, PoisonPowder, and Earthquake, I don't want to teach him how to cut down trees and be a flashlight! I'd have to get rid of my sunshine, my only sunshine, killing the bad guys, with pretty sunshine!
*Cough.* Erm...yeah. Trainers need to start packing knives and lanterns. Brock did it on TV once way back when (the knife.)

I think the only HMs I have amongst my team are Surf and Fly. If I need another HM, I just grab a temporary Pokémon that can learn it. I don't think I ever bothered teaching Defog to anything, though.

Yeah, HMs definitely need to go. I like Shrike's idea of the Trainer having his/her own tools, but they could also have HMs be separate from the Pokemon's regular moveset, or have a fifth move in addition to the first four or something. Um....maybe we ought to move this discussion to the nearest Pokemon topic.

Um....maybe we ought to move this discussion to the nearest Pokemon topic. There's this one even though people ended up using it for species ideas. Some were also discussing HMs right here.
