God Pokémon was always complicated, due to the ever expanding list of them. All I know is that we can't remove Jigglypuff despite my belief that she is no longer important to Pokémon. She must remain in there for traditions sake.
Pikachu, Jigglypuff, PKMN Trainer... once you get past that, its complicated.
I always liked the idea of Meowth in the game. But I fear there would be too many 1st Generation Pokémon taking the spotlight.

You really can't help but over-rep the first generation. That's THE Pokemon generation. It's not like Mario where anyone who can prattle off the species you see in every spin-off at least basically knows the series, with Pokemon, it's either you know Kanto or you know everything. EVERYBODY know Kanto. I will bet you five dollars that if you go up to some dude and ask him about the Pokemon he knows, every Pokemon he knows got their start in Kanto.

Why does everybody always want to drop Lucario? It's an extremely popular Pokémon, is the only non-legendary to have starred in a movie, and, along with Munchlax, has been the poster boy for the fourth generation of Pokémon and, by extension, for Pokémon's resurgence into mainstream culture (in this country, at least).
It's always given a spotlight of some kind in the games, whether it's as a special one-time catch or a starter. And even in the original Mystery Dungeon, released before it made its proper debut, though it didn't actually appear, it was mentioned constantly as being the greatest Pokémon hero, and the highest Team Rank after Platinum was the "Lucario" rank.
On top of that, he worked brilliantly as a playable Smash character. Much better than Mewtwo did, IMO. And the only valid reason I can see for including Mewtwo over Lucario is nostalgia. Which, uh... isn't a valid reason.
Both, sure, but a roster made up entirely of first generation critters just for nostalgia's sake? Way to alienate today's kids, guys!

Given that most people hate Tingle, I'd doubt he'd make it into SBB (and given that he didn't make in to Twilight Princess, I'm convinced he's been ditched for good). Hell, I'd rather play as a Goron or something, rather than Tingle. Tingle is the most logical next character for the Zelda crew though. (and he's an AT) *rubs in face* So? Does that mean Waluigi (who is also an AT) will be playable next time around? Somehow, I don't really think so!

Waluigi has never starred in his own game, though. While Tingle has starred in two.

Right, Waluigi never had his own game. At least Meowth almost had one. I really wish Nintendo would make Meowth's Party a Guitar Hero-like game for the Wii, starring Meowth and other music/sound/dance-related Pokemon. That would really help Meowth's chances at playability for SSB4.

He's just saying that being an AT isn't a good enough reason to be a character. Which I agree. But AT or not, I do still think that Tingle would be cool. I even came up with a moveset once. Oh and when I say moveset, I mean the whole thing, standards and specials.
It was interesting what kind of... Tingley... slaps, kicks, and dances I could come up with. He even made "pop-pop-pop" sounds when he walks! Yeah he was a pretty cool character, but... This was before I knew Toon Link was in the game. I was going to have Tingle as the fourth Zelda character, but I can't do that now.

He's just saying that being an AT isn't a good enough reason to be a character. I'm sure Spud only said that because Sqrt2 always puts too much heart when he likes or dislikes a character and Tingle is kind of NinDB's cult. Right, Waluigi never had his own game. At least Meowth almost had one. About time somebody mentioned Waluigi. No need to resort to comparing Meowth to Waluigi in Meowth's defense v_v

I have this gut feeling that Lucario will end up being replaced by whatever Pokemon happens to star in it's own movie at the time SSB4 is out.

I just hope Mewtwo gets in. He was the coolest of all Pokemon. 2nd to Charizard.

You realise that Manaphy and Darkrai both starred in movies in between Lucario getting one and Brawl coming out, right? Lucario's movie was released in 2005. XD

I think the true reason Lucario got in was because he was one of the, if not the first 4th gen Pokemon revealed to us. That sorta adds to his popularity. I think that the people who weren't really into Pokemon D/P are the ones who hated him replacing Mewtwo.

Why did Lucario have the most support than the other 4th gen Pokemon for Brawl? I think its probably because Lucario is a furry and Manaphy and Darkrai are not. "Over-repping 1st gen is not fair to other gens" is pretty much the same as "we need more female characters" in Krystal's case.

See, the thing is, if you play a StarFox game, you're going to see Krystal as well as the original cast regardless of how far into the game you get. Aside from Pikachu and a select few others, you won't be seeing 1st-generation Pokémon in a 3rd or 4th-generation game until after you've beaten it. Like it or not, Lucario is much more well-known by today's Pokémon audience than Mewtwo, who isn't even in the 4th-generation games and last appeared in the anime 9 frickin' years ago.
