Let's leave it there, then. Honestly, the arguments you guys have made have only made us go round and round in circles and remind me just how low this forum's collective IQ has sunk lately. Oh like you were any better ;D How about we come to an agreement? Once we're done filling up the roster, if there's any room left we'll put Krystal in, is that okay? TV Eye: Just because you haven't played a game doesn't mean a character is undeserving. Why I never played a Fire Emblem game starring Ike, but I felt he was a very deserving character due to his role in the Fire Emblem series. I never played a Stafy game either, but I realize how popular and loved he is.

I never played a Stafy game either, but I realize how popular and loved he is. Well, going by sales, he's not too popular. And the Japanese wanted Prof. Kawashima more than him for Brawl, so he couldn't of been loved much.

By sales maybe, but by the character's actual reception? I really don't see what you have against Stafy.
The Japanese wanted a Hammer Brother more than they wanted Lucas, King Dedede, and Ike. That's not a real good excuse.

Well according to that site, Mother 3 actually sold less than Stafy 2. Sales don't persuade me as most buyers today have no idea what's good.

King Dedede (5) Diddy Kong (4) Geno (4) Ike (4) Ridley (4) Captain Olimar & Pikmin (3) Krystal (3) Takamaru (3) Wind Waker Link (3) Animal Crossing Human (2) Claus (2) DeMille/Demiru(2) Isaac (2) Jeff (2) Kawasima (2) King K. Rool (2) Lip (2) Lucas (2) Mega Man (2) Oguma (2) Ouendan (2) Sukapon (2) I don't see a Hammer Bro at all.

Hammer Bro. was actually requested once. But I think Shrikeswind is confused.

Yeah, sorry 'bout that, site I got it from had it out of order. But granted that Krystal is on that list and Wolf isn't, two of my points stand, a) that more people wanted Krystal in than Wolf and b) that just because Kawashima trumped Stafy doesn't mean Kawashima would come first. It's just that the comparison got changed.

Since they didn't publish every single request e-mail on that website I wouldn't use that list as definite proof of a character's popularity in Japan. Also for some reason I thought Geno was on top with 5 mentions. Guess I remember wrong.

Okay, after some time planning and reading what I've seen around here and there, I came up with 2 reasonable sound rosters - 10x5 and 9x5. I added in not only the expected characters but also the unexpected characters. Lets start with the 10x5 roster. The 10x5 roster without the random select is basically what Shrikeswind is looking for in this thread and it took a while to organize characters into groups to fit the 10x5 grid. I hope many of you like it. It has 57 playable characters. 10x5 Roster: Row #1 - Marioverse Franchises 1. Mario 2. Luigi 3. Peach 4. Toad 5. Bowser 6. Yoshi / Baby Mario 7. Wario / Overalls Wario 8. Donkey Kong 9. Diddy Kong / Dixie Kong 10. King K. Rool 10x5 Roster: Row #2 - Famicom Disk System Franchises 11. Link 12. Zelda / Sheik 13. Ganondorf 14. Toon Link 15. Tingle 16. Takamaru 17. Samus / Zero Suit Samus 18. Ridley 19. Pit 20. Little Mac 10x5 Roster: Row #3 - Famicom and Handheld Franchises 21. Mr. Game & Watch 22. Hunting Dog 23. Ice Climbers 24. R.O.B. 25. Kirby 26. Meta Knight 27. King Dedede 28. Muddy Mole 29. Isaac 30. Stafy 10x5 Roster: Row #4 - Major RPG/Strategy Franchises 31. Commanding Officer 32. Ness 33. Lucas 34. Marth 35. New Lord 36. Pokemon Trainer - Squirtle / Ivysaur / Charizard 37. Pikachu 38. Jigglypuff 39. Meowth 40. 5th Gen Pokemon 10x5 Roster: Row #5 - Franchises From Other Nintendo Consoles 41. Captain Falcon 42. Samurai Goroh 43. Fox 44. Falco 45. Krystal 46. Wolf 47. Saki Amamiya 48. Olimar 49. Animal Crosser 50. Captain Rainbow The 9x5 roster with the random select is pretty much the same as the 10x5 roster but with Brawl's way of grouping characters. I suspect many of you might not like it as much as the 10x5 roster but I hope you like it, too. At least it got 51 playable characters, so we still got more than 50 here! 9x5 Roster: Column #1 - Mario Main Series 1. Mario 2. Luigi 3. Peach 4. Toad 5. Bowser 9x5 Roster: Column #2 - Mario Spin-Off Franchises 6. Donkey Kong 7. Diddy Kong / Dixie Kong 8. King K. Rool 9. Yoshi / Baby Mario 10. Wario / Overalls Wario 9x5 Roster: Column #3 - Zelda Franchises 11. Link 12. Zelda / Sheik 13. Ganondorf 14. Toon Link 15. Tingle 9x5 Roster: Column #4 - Famicom + Disk System Franchises 16. Ice Climbers 17. Takamaru 18. Samus / Zero Suit Samus 19. Pit 20. Little Mac 9x5 Roster: Column #5 - Game Boy + Gamecube Franchises 21. Kirby 22. Meta Knight 23. King Dedede 24. Stafy 25. Olimar 9x5 Roster: Column #6 - SNES + N64 Franchises 26. Fox 27. Falco or Krystal 28. Wolf or Krystal 29. Captain Falcon 30. Saki Amamiya 9x5 Roster: Column #7 - Pokemon Franchises 31. Pokemon Trainer - Squirtle / Ivysaur / Charizard 32. Pikachu 33. Jigglypuff 34. Meowth 35. 5th Gen Pokemon 9x5 Roster: Column #8 - Former Japan-Only RPG Franchises 36. Ness 37. Lucas 38. Marth 39. New Lord 40. Commanding Officer 9x5 Roster: Column #9 - WTF Characters 41. Mr. Game & Watch 42. R.O.B. 43. Hunting Dog 44. Captain Rainbow 45. Random

57? Why such an odd number? Using the layout of the character select screen as a guideline is a bad idea, as has been stated before, and it's pretty obvious that you threw a bunch of characters that only you wanted in there, rather than those who were wanted universally (Overalls Wario, my ass). That's just not the way to create a suppoedly perfect roster, which I honestly think is impossible at this point. It's Sakurai's (or whoever's making the next game) or nothin'.

57 is an odd number yet 39 wasn't? And the grid was a bad idea? That's what SSB64, Melee, and Brawl has been doing. All of the characters are grouped together. And doing so makes the select screen look professional - clean and organized. You said yourself that its impossible to make the perfect roster. I tried to make a good roster that I thought would make many people happy (including myself). I mean, many people hated the Melee and Brawl rosters when they were finally revealed but eventually grew to love them. I don't doubt that if the SSB4 roster is revealed, many people would hate it and say Brawl was way better than Melee, just like they said Melee was way better than Brawl.

Ehhh..... Who is CO? Just any one that is out at the time, as in from the most recent game?
Also Diddy and Dixie must be separate. Diddy does not need Dixie ruining his game, and vice versa.
