He could use his B down to pump himself a new balloon to use.
It could be like Olimar were he could still fight without his Pikmin, but not very good. Same with ballons.

EXACTLY! But I think his balloons should operate on stats rather than attacks.

Yes actually someone else suggested that in a discussion long ago. You know, I should go searching for some of the best ideas I found on the internet. It wouldn't hurt for you guys to look around too.

I've actually had a couple suggested to me for my site, such as a Birdo, a Krystal, and a personal favorite, a Midna. Not to mention Parrothead's ideas, which come in both bulk and quality. I legitimately can't post my all-time favorites because Parrothead's responible for EVERY SINGLE ONE.

The thing with Midna, I'm not sure about her. After all she's only going to be in one game in the entire Zelda series. And never again. She's very popular right now, but popularity fluctuates, look at Mewtwo and Lucario.

That's true, which is why I haven't suggested her.
Though there has been a comment that she may come back if enough people like her. I'll try and find it, as well as who it was who said it.

I think if Midna appears I would rather see her humanoid form with the imp as her Final Smash. Personally the humanoid form would be a lot cooler to see in action and just makes more "sense" to me. Balloon Fighter OR Alice is fine by me; Alice works better for the whole obscureness factor and the lack of girls thing, but Balloon Fighter has nostalgic and generalized appeal. I think I posted a moveset for both already, but my idea is similar to Olimar in that they need to pump balloons to give them extra jumps/Up B and alter their weight. Otherwise, they are very high gravity and low jumping/no recovery characters with crappy moves. Birdo would be fun though I wonder if it would ever happen. Her moveset could just be a mix between Yoshi's and let's say... Wario? Maybe. Definitely shooting eggs for B, and similar A attacks to the Yo'ster. Krystal I envision as a cross between Falco and Pit. Yeah, I said it. She would be slow with high gravity and high jumps; her A attacks would all be staff attacks similar to Pit's attacks with the bow with a further reach and less power/more knockback (maybe?). She would have an original moveset, definitely. Something like shooting energy balls from the crystal, a psychic-powered jump, some defensive maneuver, and definitely a Skyrunner for her FS. Dixie needs to be solo, I'm sorry. Diddy works too well already and has been established as a solo character. Throwing on Dixie would upset the balance, I think. Dixie can work well on her own regardless. Just make her ponytail twirl her Up B and let it work like a really long-lasting Spinning Kong. Give her Tiny's crossbow and Kiddy as a FS, then she's good-to-go. And let me add one little point that's really more ego stroking than anything else: I've been pretty damn good at predicting the cast of all 3 Smash games. I have made some errors as far as overextending my guesses, yes, and I don't claim ESP or anything extraordinary--just common sense. If you had to ask me (and you didn't but I am pretending you did): Takamaru, Little Mac, and Krystal I think are the only characters we are "guaranteed" to see. They remain highly-requested and highly-present throughout both older and current games. I don't see how the team could avoid adding them in some shape or form as playable characters. Anybody else, honestly, I think will either be irrelevant by the time Smash 4 rolls around OR just isn't popular enough. But we can always play the wait and see game, soo... let's wait and see

I'd add Stafy to that if past experience says anything for his future.

My money's still on Bowser Jr. appearing as the next 'Mario' fighter over the likes of Toad, Waluigi and whatnot.... IF it gets a new fighter anyway. For all we know they'll only throw in Dr. Mario again because of 'popular demand' and call it a day.

I predicted the Smash Ball item. However, it was grabbable and not breakable.
I once dreamt of Tanooki Mario being in SSB3, though that didn't happen. Costumes with powers would be fun, but Mario already blends some of them as "Mario".

Well I suppose the Doctor would be an okay alternate costume, but not an alternate character.

Even then, it would still be weird seeing Dr.Mario billed as just "Mario" on the screen and using Fireballs and FLUDD as part of his moveset. How many times must I repeat myself?
