a) It should have ended before you told me to "Use some common sense." b) Leaving clues like that has always been Rare's version of media press. They'd have been kicking around Banjo Kazooie 3 right at the end of development of Banjo-Tooie. Microsoft and Rareware hadn't sealed the deal yet, that didn't happen for 2 years. c) If you HAVE to explain it, why the HELL are you explaining it here? Couldn't you explain this privately?

Shrike, must you always be so confrontational? I mean, literally EVERY SINGLE ONE of your posts since you joined as been a rebuttal or attack against another post. I've never seen anyone so angry since myself.

It takes two to tango. You wanna dance? I'll dance. But I'm not going to dance if you don't want to. I wouldn't be so confrontational if you people wouldn't be so anti-me. I'm a friendly enough guy. I don't want to argue. But I will if I have to, and it seems to me that every time I so much as say "Hi, hazzit goin'?" someone decides it's time to take the new guy down a peg. I keep seeing "I remember a time when everyone at NinDB wasn't so confrontational." Well, it's kinda hard to be confrontational if everyone else is relaxed. A brief rundown of me? I'm sarcastic, foul-mouthed, and I like to be right, but I'm also relaxed, open-minded, and try to avoid conflict as long as possible. You people complain about NinDB being empty these days. Newsflash 1: It's not, and Newsflash 2: You guys are making it that way. What kind of newcomer would stay at a site where everything they say is automatically wrong? I stayed because I wanted to share my thoughts, and as time progressed it became more and more obvious to me that no one seems to care about them. I am relaxed. It seems to me that you guys need to relax a bit more.
I will say no more of this after the following period.

Shrikeswind, the problem isn't that nobody cares about your opinion. The problem is that when someone disagrees with your opinion, you decide to attack theirs. I mean, you once told me that all of my opinions were invalid. Based on the fact that you disagreed. Tell me that's not messed up. In this case, Teev is giving you facts, and you are choosing to argue with them. I don't know why. They are facts, not opinions. You can't argue with facts. That is why they are facts.

As much as like the idea of this thread, I feel it is doomed.
I thought it would be fun to have people draw a character select screen, with all the character art of the roster we chose, maybe even the alternate colors too. But alas we'll never get to do something fun like that because of all the stubborn asinine arguments made here. I can't say I didn't contribute to the arguments, because I have and I'm sorry for that. But now I want things to get done more than defend one or two characters. Isn't it more important to get something finished than argue about one character?
I'm certain, that if a topic like this is ever attempted again there needs to be an unbiased ringleader to get things moving.

Both Kirbychu and I already mentioned that a perfect roster can't be determined, so I guess this thread was doomed before it began.
Maybe you could take that idea you just posted and make a new thread out of it. Call it a "Draw the Character Selection Screen" contest or something.

I supported this thread because it was made as a challenge that originated in the "forum malaise" thread because of one comment of Koopaul, but I don't want these arguments to continue.
Anyway, can't you suggest anything more likely than Timber? If not, then that voting system Koopaul came up with does sound good in my opinion. We all vote (the ones that have cared for this topic), we name it "NinDB's character choices, March 2009", we bring it to a close with a grid like some of you guys suggested, and we continue discussing other interesting topics in this SSB board.

I have, actually. Since then. It was another debatable topic, Toad. Guys, enough about the Hunting Dog. Okay? Arcadenik, if you can't be civil about it, no more WTF Characters period, Man-Frog, if you can't be civil about it, I'll add the Hunting Dog anyways. Now, let's discuss Toad and get on with our lives. Pros - Playability in main games (SMB2, Wario's Woods,) high fame (next most recognizable character after Wario,) viable movesets ( click here for an example.) Cons - Recent lack of mainstream appearances. See?

As much as I love Toad, the last time I actually remember him feeling any more important than, for example, Goomba was Mario Kart 64. He's faded off into the background over the last ten years.

He's the still the most iconic Mario character next to the ones already in Brawl, though. Other than him, Mario really doesn't need any more characters. If he did, you wouldn't be seeing such inane suggestions like Daisy, Birdo, Geno and... Count Bleck floating around out there on the web.
By the way, has anybody voted on Koopaul's pool except me? It seemed like a good enough idea.

I don't see Toad as being that much more iconic than a Koopa Troopa... and I don't think we need one of those in.
Though I must admit, I did see him as on the same level as Yoshi in the pre-N64 days, but I'm not sure if we should be looking at characters who were important over ones who are. I mean... these days, Daisy and Waluigi have more significance than Toad.

Yeah, Toad hasn't really done anything major since SMB2. Nowadays he's a rather useless NPC kind of character, which is why I think he's represented fine enough as Peach's personal meatshield.

If Toad had his own game called Super Toad or something and its a 2D platformer game - somewhat like SMB2 and SPP and WW in terms of gameplay involving uprooting veggies and using mushrooms like Peach does with hearts and lifting tall stacks of enemies - in the future before SSB4 is announced, can he be playable then?

I wouldn't exactly call characters confined to spinoffs significant. Maybe for Assist status, but not playable.
Either way, Toad already got in as one of Peach's attacks, so discussing him is a non-issue. You'd at least agree that Mario doesn't need any more characters, right?
