I'm going to go ahead and throw in my support for Dixie to appear in her original intended role. As a seperate character, I feel she'd fall flat (I'd prefer K. Rool) but the one-two punch with Diddy would make a GREAT reference to the original DKC games, especially if they had a special referencing the "piggy-back" move. Actually, that'd be a pretty good recovery for Dixie, IMHO.

That's pretty much not happening now that Diddy himself is a separate character, as that would involve taking out a bunch of his moves in the process (especially if you assume the rumour that a Diddy/Dixie teamup was going to originally happen in Brawl is true, until they dropped it in favour of Diddy on his own).

Yeah, Diddy's fine as is. His Rocketbarrel Pack is quite effective, at least when charged up enough.
But I'm still lost on his simply tossing a Banana Peel. Pffft, you can do better than that for a Down Special.

The only move I would really have to see them taking out is the down-B, which, again, only in my own humble opinion, was rubbish.
Heck, you could even switch that to Dixie. Make it her neutral B. I picture Diddy's moves staying the same for the most part with Dixie simply following, ala the original DKC games. When you switch, the two switch places and you use Dixie's moveset.
That said, yeah: it's a long shot now.

I hope they give Diddy a new Down B. Maybe something like the exploding Oranges from DK64. Actually, I was also kinda hoping they'd tweak DK's moveset a tad too. Maybe replace the Side B Headbutt with the Coconut Cannon and replace his current running attack with the roll from DKC.
Hey, if Mario and other characters could get that treatment, why not DK?

No way, I love that Headbutt (DK user by the way) and his kick is great to.

I always wanted a Diddy & Dixie team just like in DKC2 for a long time, long before Brawl was even announced. So, anyone give a thought about balancing the roster based on characters' roles and franchises' status from my post? Also, haven't anyone answered Frog's question about Ice Climber being bundled with the NES in some countries in Europe? I read that one on Wikipedia but... its Wikipedia!

All I know is that Diddy is too important to share a spot with another character. I mentioned before that if a character shares a spot with another, its like saying they're not important enough on their own.

I'm afraid I'll just have to disagree. I don't really see how it would diminish Diddy's status to add a second character, though I can understand where you're coming from and respect your opinion.

Does that mean Zelda is not important enough to be on her own that she has to have Sheik with her?

Shiek and Zelda are the same person. Same with Samus. Diddy and Dixie are not.

It's not essential for Diddy to be teamed up with Dixie, as it isn't for him to be teamed up with Donkey Kong, either. And two of his current special moves were first seen in a game where the tag team mechanics didn't exist and he was cool alone. Okay, other transformations aren't essential either, and I'll grant that. But I personally do not feel something is missing when I use Diddy alone in Smash Bros. or the very platformer games. Unless I'm hunting for bonus rooms. I'd like to see ideas for how Diddy and Dixie would work together in Smash, though. Man-Frog and Arcadenik: I've never been in Europe, so I wouldn't know with my eyes, but Wikipedia cites this site with a NES package that apparently included Ice Climber. Notice the picture of Nana on it.

Yes, because Popo and Nana are not the same person... oh wait...

See, I was about to bring up the same point as Arcadenik when I realized that. But at the same time, Zelda could be a character in her own right: Shiek is a nifty bonus. Honestly, I'd just view a Diddy/Dixie team-up as making something awesome awesome-er, but to each their own. While I understand your point and the reasoning behind it, I must simply and respectfully disagree. But enough controversy: let's talk about WHY KRYSTAL TOTALLY DESERVES TO BE IN SMASH!
