Yeah, DK's is similar. But I was thinking that Meowth's would be automated, with little to no player input.
But you know what? Meowth's Party as a stage, plus a victory taunt, works just fine. As long as we stick the Whismur family there, because you know it works.
Maybe the Pichu Bros. too.

OMG! You just gave me an idea for Meowth's Party. What about having music-, sound-, and dance-based Pokemon in Meowth's Party? Jigglypuff, Ludicolo, Jynx, Bellossom, Kirlia, Chatot, Chimecho, and so on could appear in the background and they would dance and make music. The other Pokemon who don't make music and dance could just cheer in the crowd just like in the Meowth's Party demo.

Perfect. I'd make it Igglybuff so as not to conflict with Jigglypuff possibly being there though. And it could be on stage as a hazard, occasionally putting you to sleep. Loudred could be an amp, Chimecho could be on the upper sides of the arena and chime out damaged notes, etc.
... On the other hand, we could always have Jiggly standing on stage with her marker in hand. That's just to endearing an image. I want it officially in a game, dammit.

Jigglypuff's Final Smash was a bit odd for me. They are not known for inflating to that size - I guess I half expected the marker to be involved somehow as a nod to the anime. At least Meowth can walk on two legs in the Pokemon games and in Brawl as a nod to the anime.
What kind of stage should Meowth's Party be like? Maybe a flat stage like Smashville but with a giant screen in the background like in Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2. That would be cool to show close-ups of the fighters. I also would love to see some Pokemon appear on the stage and attack with their special moves just like in Saffron City.

Since when is Meowth's Party still significant? It was a tech demo and later a special episode included on Pokemon Channel.....and that's it. We're well into the Wii era and most of Smash's Pokemon references come straight from the games, so I doubt Meowth is going to get that kind of recognition aside from being a Pokeball summon.

It's really not important, honestly. But since this is a dream topic, and Arcadenik likes Meowth, its perfectly fine.
And Meowth's Party originates on a Japanese music CD that came with a Pokemon card. It was later one of the ending themes to the anime in Japan, of which there are litterally dozens.

Uh, Man-Frog? Meowth is one of the few Pokemon (in fact, if I'm not mistaken, one of only two Pokemon, the other being Pikachu) to have continuous relevance in most Pokemon-related media (probably due to his role on the anime, but the point stands firm.) Even if Meowth's Party isn't relevant anymore, Meowth still is.
On an unrelated note, I've got to thinking and I'm going to bump the cap to 6. It's a nice even number and it's more leniant than 5 (the max before you start adding extraneous characters is actually 8 per series. I should know, I had to do the math. We're not getting that high, though, unless someone decides when we've got it all settled that there just aren't enough characters.) Besides, after Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon, there aren't really any series available with enough relevance to add more than 3 characters, so we're probably going to assume a 6x9 roster with every slot filled (random being moved out.) This puts the cap at 54 characters. It's slightly more than the 5x10 we had, but at the same time it also allows in characters who keep getting the shaft for equally important characters.

@ Shrikeswind
Yeah, that's pretty much the main reason why I am still supporting Meowth for a playable spot in a Smash game, even if it is only for one Smash game at least.
Hmmm... bump the cap from 5 to 6? That might work.
Mario series 1. Mario 2. Luigi 3. Peach 4. Bowser 5. Toad 6. Bowser Jr.
Zelda series 1. Link 2. Zelda / Sheik 3. Ganondorf 4. Toon Link 5. Toon Zelda / Tetra (no Toon Sheik!) or Toon Zelda only 6. Tingle
Pokemon series 1. Pikachu 2. Pokemon Trainer 3. Lucario 4. Jigglypuff 5. Mewtwo 6. Meowth
Realistically, how many newcomers could SSB4 really get? I am thinking 12 to 16 so maybe 14 is pretty reasonable (and it meets in the middle between 12 and 16!)

Uuuuugh..... You're STILL going on about the exact size of the roster/number of newcomers? Christ... The exact number is meaningless in the long run considering the wild lack of consistency from SSB to Melee to Brawl, and since this supposed to be a dream topic (as Qu pointed out to me before), it shouldn't even inhibit you in the first place.

Yeah, it is a dream topic but if I say I want the Duck Hunt Dog playable, all hell breaks loose. Anyway, here is my list of SSB4 newcomers I hope to see: Toad - always wanted him in Smash since Melee, hope NSMBWii boosts Toad's chances, it would be interesting to see some NSMBWii-inspired moves from Toad, he could Propeller Spin to recover and throw Iceballs to freeze opponents and pick up/carry opponents around a la SMB2 and NSMBWii Dixie Kong - I wanted her in Brawl and she almost did, I always loved her in DKC2 and 3 because of her hair spin, she could be like Medusa of the Inhumans by using her hair to fight and to lift/throw opponents and to float like Peach using her hair, she could maybe borrow Tiny Kong's Feather Bow as a projectile weapon King K. Rool - not sure why I want him but I think he would be interesting if he brings something new to the table... maybe a moveset that combines elements from King K. Rool, Kaptain K. Rool, and Baron K. Roolenstein Tingle - I also wanted him in Brawl, he could be the Balloon Fighter for Smash instead of an oridinary Balloon Fighter from the NES since he is more well-known and could do more like dropping bombs and rapid-firing Rupees Takamaru - yeah, another sword fighter but he could shoot fireballs from his sword, no other sword fighters can do that, and he could get a big makeover like Pit did in Brawl Little Mac - I wanted him in Brawl but he is now more likely thanks to Punch-Out!! for the Wii, Giga Mac would be perfect as his Final Smash, he could be like the Balrog of Smash since he only uses punches and no kicks Isa (Sin & Punishment 2) - he is basically an updated Saki and he is more recent, so why not? I think he could recover with his jet pack and use his sword/gun weapon to fight like Saki did in Brawl Isaac's Descendant (Golden Sun DS) - yeah, he is pretty much an updated Isaac (think of him as Isaac wearing different clothes) and he will be the protagonist of the latest Golden Sun game, I think he would be pretty interesting as a magic-based sword fighter who uses Psynergy Starfy - he is not Japan-only anymore so that makes him a good candidate for Smash, he could spin and fight similar to Kirby but with different special moves, of course Meowth - he could be the Marth or the Meta Knight of the Pokemon series with his lightning fast scratches and he could use Pay Day in many different ways as part of his moveset Mewtwo - no need to explain this one, he just need to be improved a bit, especially Confusion and Disable Gold with Chikorita, Quilava, and Feraligatr - yeah, the so-called Pokemon Rival but I specifically picked Gold because Gold was my first Pokemon game and HeartGold/SoulSilver are coming out next year.... notice the types of Gold's starters? Chikorita vs. Squirtle (grass > water), Quilava vs. Ivysaur (fire > grass), Feraligatr vs. Charizard (water > fire) yeah, he could be Red's rival in Smash Duck Hunt Dog - yeah, the obligatory WTF retro character like Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. were in Melee and Brawl, he could fight by pointing to a direction so the hunter from the fourth wall would shoot at the spot the dog is pointing at, ducks and clay pigeons could be part of the moveset as well Mega Man - he is awesome, enough said Personally I wouldn't mind seeing Muddy Mole and Captain Rainbow playable in Smash. They are both very interesting characters. As for third party characters, I wouldn't mind seeing Simon Belmont (as long as he doesn't wear his hideous Judgment outfit), Pac-Man, and Chocobo & Slime (Slime riding on top of Chocobo as one playable character to represent Square Enix). Just please, no more Sonic characters.

I hate to put it so bluntly because I greatly encourage creativity, BUT...
ManFrog, this isn't a dream thread. If you hark back to the days when this thread was made, there was alot of arguing going on about the roster. This thread was intended as a realistic look at the future of the Smash Bros. roster as it stood (and stands.) I have my own website dedicated to this same sort of thing without the restrictions (it's also alot more in-depth.) If this was just about posting every character we want the first post would just be a link to it. This is for realism, not willy-nilly "I like so-and-so, he should be there!" (Actually, that's the reason I'm not adding WTF characters, there's just so much debate on who would be the most realistic because none of them really are.) I expect I've pretty much set myself up for karma drops and backlash in saying so, but I stand firm on this point because it's a point intended to keep us from descending into chaos and lunacy, and so I defy your backlash, because if I let it get to me and lay my restrictions aside, this entire thread will go to Hell in a handbasket for the arguments and nonsense.

He'd probably make a good Assist Trophy. Qu was the one who said it was a dream thread! Tell HIM that! Better yet, Arcadenik's "realistic look at the future of SSB" is anything BUT realistic! We've already gotten into a million arguments with him over that blasted Dog! X(

Corp. REMEMBUH ME? would be a solid replacement for Nintendog, that he would. Imagine...a close-up on his face, with his visor going up and down, saying REMEMBUH ME? over and over and over...LOL
