Well, would you guys prefer something as dull and predictable as this? Mario series1. Mario 2. Luigi 3. Peach 4. Bowser 5. Bowser Jr. (a Bowser clone and no Toad) Donkey Kong series6. Donkey Kong 7. Diddy Kong (no Dixie Kong solo or a team partner) 8. King K. Rool Yoshi series9. Yoshi Wario series10. Wario Zelda series11. Link 12. Zelda / Sheik 13. Ganondorf 14. Toon Link 15. Toon Zelda / Tetra (yay, more clones and no Tingle) Metroid series16. Samus / Zero Suit Samus 17. Ridley (judging from the Other M screenshots, I think he might be a little too... ) Kid Icarus series18. Pit Punch-Out!! series19. Little Mac (finally, a new Nintendo franchise with a playable character) Ice Climber series20. Ice Climbers Kirby series21. Kirby 22. Meta Knight 23. King Dedede F-Zero series24. Captain Falcon 25. Samurai Goroh (I think Takamaru would have been a better choice since he could represent an entirely new franchise but...) Star Fox series26. Fox 27. Falco 28. Wolf 29. Krystal (yiff yiff scritch... what?! We need moar females anyway!) Pikmin series30. Olimar Pokemon series31. Pikachu 32. Pokemon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard) 33. Lucario 34. Jigglypuff 35. Mewtwo (yes, add only one Pokemon to the roster and it is not even a new Pokemon) Fire Emblem36. Marth 37. Ike 38. Roy (he has teh PHIRE!!!11) Mother series39. Ness 40. Lucas Game & Watch series41. Mr. Game & Watch Robot series42. R.O.B. Metal Gear series43. Snake Sonic series44. Sonic Mega Man series45. Mega Man (another new franchise with a playable character and he is not even Nintendo) Removing/replacing characters are frowned upon in the Smash community so we have to keep everybody from Brawl. Adding unexpected characters are also frowned upon in the Smash community so we have to add only the most popular characters.

Here's something a little more accurate:
Mario Mario Luigi Peach Bowser Yoshi Wario
Description: NO NEW MARIO CHARACTERS. Everything is adequately represented. Toad would be good but he's already part of Peach's moveset and as many others have pointed he's been demoted to a drone character. Bowser Jr. shouldn't be in because he hasn't been around as long as these other characters nor has he appeared in as many games. Dr. Mario shouldn't come back because people will bitch about it (and quite frankly, having two Mario's is pretty dumb). No other Mario character deserves a spot as much as the seven above. That's it. Case closed.
Donkey Kong Donkey Kong Diddy Kong Dixie Kong
Description: Dixie is most likely as she was planned for Brawl. I don't know why everyone things King K.Rool is viable. If anything it should be Kaptain K.Rool in the playable spot, 'cause he has a kickin' blunderbuss! On the other hand, he could also make a pretty cool boss character.
Zelda New version of Link New version of Zelda New version of Ganondorf Either Toon Link or another new version of a younger Link
Description: Face it, by the time the next Smash is out we'll have at least one new Link, Zelda and Ganondorf to worry about. If the "toon" sub-series is still going Toon Link will probably still be in but if not, it's hard to tell who else they'll add. Maaaybe Tingle, but his role as an Assist Trophy makes enough sense.
Metroid Samus / Zero Suit Samus
Description: Look, those other hunters were a one time thing, and I am of the camp that believes that a boss role does Ridley better justice than as a playable character. Metroid is a game about isolation, of being solitary. Therefore having only one character is the best way to go.
Kirby Kirby Meta Knight King Dedede
Description: This is basically it for Kirby. I mean, unless they start adding the Helpers and stuff to pad the roster but I doubt that'll happen.
Star Fox Fox Falco Wolf
Description: Listen to Kirb when he talks smack about Krystal. Seriously, what the FUCK is the big deal about her? She has NOTHING aside from a pair of breasts. There are far better female characters from other games to be added than her, and since there aren't many other Star Fox characters viable for a playable spot, I reeeeally don't think this franchise needs more than three. Adding Wolf AND making him another half-clone was bad enough, though as much as I'd like to drop him I don't think he should be dropped for next time just in case.
Pokemon Pikachu Pokemon Trainer Jigglypuff Mewtwo Lucario New important Pokemon
Description: Pikachu is the mascot, Red is a unique enough character to stay, and Jigglypuff should be kept for the sake of Smash tradition. Ideally I'd prefer Mewtwo to come back, but if they repeat what they did with Lucario it's very likely they'll just replace him with whatever Pokemon is popular or important at the time of the next Smash's release.
F-ZERO Captain Falcon Samurai Goroh
Description: Knowing Sakurai we'd probably be just left with PAAAAAUNCH from here to eternity, but you all know it was a criminal offense to not include Goroh in Brawl.
MOTHER Ness Lucas
Description: Now I know both Earthbound and MOTHER 3 have a lot of other unique characters to work with, but the problem is deciding on which ones. Everyone seems to think the Masked Man should be in but I think that would kinda ruin the the integrity of the friggin' story behind MOTHER 3. Others want Pokey, but like Ridley it's probably a better choice to have him be a boss. The only other character I can see them adding is Ninten, if only to round out the trinity of MOTHER protagonists, but unless they change up his moveset people are probably gonna cry foul for having yet ANOTHER character that's similar to both Ness and Lucas.
Fire Emblem Marth New Lord
Description: Marth deserves to be in no matter what since he's the protagonist of the first FE game and also managed to star in two more remakes of it. Now, we all know Roy was a clone of Marth and Ike was a replacement for Roy. Both Roy and Ike were the most recent FE protagonists at the time of Melee and Brawl's releases, respectively. Therefore, it's probably safe to say that Ike will once again be replaced by the star of whatever FE game is most recent by the time the next Smash is out.
Other Stuff Ice Climbers Mr. Game & Watch Pit Olimar R.O.B.
Description: Well these guys are the old-school characters of the group, so they're all staying out of uniqueness. As for what new character they'll add to go along with them, that's a tough call.
Given how all those Assist Trophies in Brawl were added to promote their upcoming games (Punch-Out!!, Sin & Punishment, Starfy, Golden Sun, etc.) there's probably cause for them to be made playable. Maybe even Takamaru can get a spot if his appearance in the new Dynasty Warriors sets off a chain reaction.
Third Party Snake Sonic Mega Man? Someone else?
Description: There's a high chance Snake and Sonic will be kept. Fan demand for Mega Man was pretty damn high and Mr. Inafune was pretty happy to lend him assuming Nintendo ever called (they didn't), but aside from that there's no real way to tell who they'd add, if they even add any more third party characters at all. I'd barrack for Simon Belmont if only because the N-Team would be reborn. ;D
Other than those there's new real way to determine who should be and who will be included in the next SSB. All the bases were essentially covered in Brawl. The rest is either matter of updating certain series (Zelda, Fire Emblem, Pokemon) and adding new blood (namely the characters who appeared as Assist Trophies and got new games added to their series since Brawl).

Well, would you guys prefer something...dull and predictable...? Not at all. I expect enough dreams to keep this fun, but not enough to make it idiotic. I'm the Defender of Dreams, the Invester of Imagination, the Carrier of Creativity. This was intended all along to merit creativity, but with enough control to keep it from becoming a rabid pile of wild animals. Also: Peach can change her B move. Peach doesn't need him to play, she could theoretically play a counter move exactly like Melee and Brawl with those spin-offy magic hearts. And then there's Toad, who could work very well on his own as well. Think about it: He could use a flip kick (SMA,) spores (SSBM/SSBB,) mushrooms (pretty much every game he's in,) hell, I have a move-set (not to toot my own horn but it's a damn good one, too) for him totally worked out and I know a guy who made a great Bowser Jr. that's been on my site for years now. Speaking of which, Junior has the brightest future of all the Mario-series newbies since Super Mario 64. I don't see why he doesn't have a chance. He's got four main-series games in a row under his belt (including his original game, no less) and rarely misses spin-offs (not appearing in the RPGs and the Party series only, if I'm not mistaken.) He's a capable fighter, he's a consistant player, and if he vanishes any time soon it'll be a shock to the world. And finally, I hate to be the jack-ass to do this, but... Yes, everyone's always arguing for Krystal with her sex on the brain. But that's irrelevant, she's also one of the most popular characters in the Star Fox series (for whatever reason not mattering, otherwise every other non-main character could be argued out of Smash.) Further, Krystal could fight without being the exact same Jetpack-Blaster-Dash-Deflector-Landmaster pile of nonsense that's been going on since Falco. She's different, she's popular, and love her or hate her (no matter your reason for either,) if a next step is made at all, it's going in her direction.

All right, here's my Toad moveset, partially derived from Flip's in some old and moldy thread.
[c]Toad[/c] Toad, like Olimar, is a niche character. Weak physical attacks and odd specials, he's not going to win you a match unless you practice.
His standard a moves are mostly punches. His up smash has him attack enemies above him with a spear- the Mushroom guards carry them, after all.
Standard B is the Apple Bomb from Wario's Woods. He pulls one out and carries it. By pressing b again, you stack up to three. Press A to place or throw one. They are weak compared to other bombs, but can pick up the pace with their multiples.
Down B is a defensive move, similar to Peach's foreword b and the FE characters down b. If he is being removed from Peach, he should maintain this move. (Plus, it's powered by his cowardice.)
Up B is the Propeller Shroom. It has high vertical lift, but little horizontal. Enemies hit by the spin will be damaged, but you are vulnerable to damage afterwords.
Down B I'm not to sure of right now, honestly. Furthermore, he has two traits: By holding down, in the duck position, you can charge up a super jump ala SMB2. Also, opponents that foot stool jump him are bounced higher than usual.
His alternate costumes include the Yellow and Blue Toads from NSMBW, the green Toad and a Toadsworth coloration (Purple vest, brown spots.)

I'd always seen Toad as quick and light with mediocre jumps. He would be more like this.
Toad's Up-B was from that SMA Charge Jump animation, a stiff flip-kick. His B was the spore attack from Peach's moves, but immediate, giving it a sort of poisonous Nayru's Love feel. I admit to having made up his Side-B, which was sorta like Flame Choke without the grab. His Down-B was flat-up pulling mushrooms out of the ground. There were 6 I picked, 2 of which helped Toad (red made him big, green healed him a bit) and 3 were projectiles like Peach's Veggies, but with status effects instead of damage (blue to shrink 'em, orange to flip them around, and there was one other one I can't recall.) Usually, though, it was purple and only did damage. His Final was always hard to decide on.

I think a NSMBWii-inspired moveset could work well for Toad. Here is my Toad moveset. B - Iceball (NSMBWii) Toad throws iceballs like Mario throws fireballs. They occasionally freeze opponents but they are more likely to freeze opponents when they have high percentages (over 100%). The iceballs bounce fast like Dr. Mario's Megavitamins. Side B - Golden Toad (MK:DD) Toad uses a Golden Mushroom and start glowing. While glowing, he charges and starts running really fast - so fast he leaves behind a trail of golden afterimages of himself. He tackles when he collides with an opponent. It is like Ike's Quick Draw. Up B - Propeller Spin (NSMBWii) Even though I haven't played NSMBWii yet but from what I can see on the videos, I think it is a good recovery move for Toad. He puts on the propeller helmet and starts flying. He falls slowly when you let go of the B button and he drills and falls fast when you press down and B at the same time during the flight. The drill move could cause extra damage. I think this move could work similarly to R.O.B.'s Robo Burner. Down B - Vegetable (SMB2) Do I even have to explain this? It is the same move Peach uses. Final Smash - Spore (SMRPG) If Luigi and Peach can have made-up Final Smashes based on their personalities (according to Sakurai on the Dojo), why can't Toad have a made-up Final Smash based on the fact he is a mushroom? Toad could spray spores all around him within a radius. The spores could cause the opponents to become immobile mushrooms with rapidly-increasing percentages, making it easier for Toad to smash them offscreen. As for his regular moves, he could use headbutts like Yoshi using his mushroom head and he could use kicks like Kirby using his stubby feet. He should have the ability to pick up and carry opponents around a la SMB2 and NSMBWii - Donkey Kong is the only one who can do that in Smash, why not Toad? After all, it would add to the rumor of Toad's superhuman strength... however out of place it might seem (Toad's Brawl trophy).

My Toad Moveset:
A - Weak kick. A,A - Two kick combo. Side A - Weak headbutt. Up A - Weak upper headbutt Down A - Low kick.
Side Smash - Flurry attack. (Resembles the little animation he does when Peach uses him) Up Smash - Flip kick. Down Smash - Breakdance attack. (Resembles Wario's down smash)
Aerial - Small spin. (Based on the midair spin from NSMBWii) Forward Aerial - Flipping headbutt. (Resembles Yoshi's forward aerial) Backward Aerial - Stretching headbutt. (Resembles Wario's backward aerial) Up Aerial - Midair flip kick. Down Aerial - Head dive. (Toad slams into the ground and creates a small shockwave, comparable to Link's down aerial)
Running A - Faceplant slide. (Kind of like King Dedede's running attack)
Grab - Toad holds the enemy above his head like in SMB2. Holding Attack - Toad repeatedly hits the enemy against the floor, almost like he's picking them up and putting them down again. Sort of based on Wario's Woods. Forward Throw - Toad does a long throw from SMB2. Backward Throw - Same as Mario and Luigi's backward throw. Up Throw - Toad "impales" the enemy on his head. (Resembles Pikachu's up throw) Down Throw - Toad "escapes" from beneath the enemy like in Wario's Woods.
Taunts Up - Toad gives an oversized peace sign and says "Sweet!". (Based on the victory animation from Wario's Woods) Down - Toad briefly turns into a mushroom. (Based on the death animation from Wario's Woods) Side - Toad waves to the camera and says "I'm the best!" (Based on both NSMBWii and Mario Kart 64)
Specials B - Mushroom Cap Toad hides under a giant mushroom cap. Works similarly to Peach's B move. Based on the ending of World 6 in the All*Stars release of Super Mario Bros.
Side B - Spore Wave Toad fires a small waves of spores out front. The animation looks similar to what happens when Peach's B move succeeds in deflecting an attack. If the spores hit, the enemy will either fall asleep, get stunned or have a flower grow out of their head.
Up B - Propeller Jump Toad spins into the air as if he had a Propeller Mushroom from NSMBWii. Practicality is similar to Peach's Up B.
Down B - Vegetable Toad pulls out a vegetable from the ground. Similar to Peach's Down B except there's a 1.5 chance you'll get a Bomb, a POW Block, a Red Shell, a Key or a Stopwatch (some of which are items I'd like to see in the next SSB).
Final Smash - Super Vegetable Alright, this may seem kinda lame, but it's based on the giant veggies you can find in Super Mario Advance 2. When you activate the Final Smash, Toad spends a few seconds pulling the oversized turnip out of the ground. You then have one shot to wait until all the players are lined up so you can hit them all consecutively with the big veggie. When hit, the monster sprout does really heavy damage and severe knockback, so this move's technique is comparable to either Marth or Captain Falcon's Final Smashes.

These are such great ideas for Toad's moveset! If Toad is added to the roster, I would absolutely love it if Wario's Woods was added as a stage. It could take place inside a hollowed out tree with a giant Thwomp-like ceiling inside. The stage is flat with no additional platforms but there are two openings on both ends of the stage. If the ceiling drops all the way to the floor, everybody are forced to fight outside of the tree on the branches beyond the openings. If you get crushed by the ceiling, you are buried underground with a Pitfall effect. Wanda would occasionally appear and make bombs rain on the stage - many explosions in an semi-closed space inside the tree, expect to see everybody bouncing off the walls and the ceiling until they get knocked out through the openings.

Well I tried to refer to Wario's Woods in other ways besides special moves. It seems to me that everybody forgets that the ENTIRE moveset is a suitable ground for obscure references.

I notice you reference the Key and potential items. I remember way back when I came up with that very item as an item. It was called Phanto's Key, and it was basically a summoning block for Phanto. It operated like the Gooey Bomb does. This was what, 3 years? 4? I can't remember. It was before the Dojo opened up, I remember as much. Basically, when time ran out, Phanto appeared and attacked whoever had it. Since the Gooey Bomb, I've tacked on a feature: The enemy simply drops the key, and Phanto waits around in a corner of the screen until someone grabs it, which starts the cycle again. Unlike most items, the Key's run-out timer resets itself everytime it's grabbed.
And I remembered the 6 item! It wasn't a mushroom, it was an Apple Bomb. It dealt damage in an explosion, but also did something fancy. I can't remember what it was, though.

NO TAKAMARU MAKES ME ANGRY Isn't it horribly obvious that characters like Takamaru and Little Mac are going to get the nod next time a Smash title rolls around? ESPECIALLY when Punch-Out had a Wii-quel and Takamaru is going to appear as a MAIN CHARACTER in the next-gen Samurai Warriors game. Last I checked, all that shit was pretty significant to getting characters like Ike and Diddy Kong into the Smash franchise. Fire Emblem outside Japan, Diddy being in Mario spinoff games, and so forth. Other characters I think we need to watch out for: anybody from Sin and Punishment, Starfy, Golden Sun protagonist, and the hero from that new "swords and sorcery" IP for the Wii (how do I keep forgetting the name?). Trust me. My instincts rarely fail. that's a lieActually, I'll be updating later with my own roster. JUST YOU WAIT >

Arle Nadja for next SSB!!! WHO? ...and why a pair of Wario's Woods bosses? Better yet, why specifically Katsini and Sarissa? Arle's from Compile's Madou Monogatari-series and t's more know spin-off, Puyo Puyo. In Smash, she'd use only spells and never any physical attacks. Maybe I'll do a moveset for her later. Well, if Katsini was the first boss you encounter in the game and is also related in Tatanga, why not him? Can't still think any idea what he'll do. Sarissa is noted sometimes among fans when talking about Wario's Woods. (-ll-) Also if she's little related to Sabasa from SML2, so maybe when she appears, she might first throw some fireballs from her wand like Sabasa did, and the one she hits, she throw apple bombs on him/them. (-lwl-) Nasty KO.
