I think you should take Geno and Mallow off the list. You don't have the other partners in other RPGs(Like Mother), so I'd say save them for later. Also Isn't Fire Emblem's Hero named Sigurd? And I think F-Zero GP Legend's Hero had is name changed to...Rick Wheeler? Something stupid like that. You could also add Link(Four-Swords) and maybe Link(Oracle).
And have you played/finished Pikmin 2, cause I wanted to mention something, but it's sorta a spoiler...

Did you HAVE to quote the whole list...

1. Geno & Mallow: Yeah, I guess. I just wanted to flesh out the SNES list a bit, but ended up with extra characters. Also, I have a habit of drawing them, so they may go up. Other RPG "helpers" will also be added eventually.
2. Depends which Fire Emblem you mean. I'm still playing through the GBA one, so if it's that then "I don't know yet". If you meant any other Fire Emblem... then no.
3. I wasn't sure if Ryu Suzac had changed his name in English or not. Still... stupid name!
4. You've not been following the last few posts If I am adding new Links then I want to get the key ones out of the way before I agonise over the storylines for the "bit-parters".

As for Ray... yes, he changes every time, but he's the series icon and staple. Wherever the hero is "you", so to speak, the next step is to choose the character randomly picked by Nintendo to be the icon. Same problem for Animal Crossing, except (aside from sorta Totakeke) there's no icon in AC.

Oops...I meant Fire Emblem 4. I read it at gamefaqs and Fire Emblem Sanctuary of Strategy(http://s7.invisionfree.com/FESS/index.php?act=idx)

For Animal Crossing there's also Tom Nook, but he's more of a villian. I wonder if Animal Crossing DS will have all the same characters.

Well it's no more "you" in Custom Robo then it is in just about any RPG or adventure game that lets you name the main character. There is an actual character there that you play as most of the time with an actual story around him.

That's true, but you have to admit that the being able to name the main character and not being able to discern and official hero and his name and do not always go hand by hand. For example, you can name the main character in The Legend Of Zelda, but he's still reffered to in the manuals as Link (and to me that feels so appropiate that I always name him Link), while games like Custom Robo and Pokémon just leave the main character nameless everywhere and try to make him speak as least as possible so that it really feels like he is "you", which is why I always name the main character in Pokémon games after me.

I know I'm beating on a dead horse, one that has been already been beaten to pulp by everyone, to make things worse, but don't you think they should have made the Pokémon RBY hero and rival be called Ash and Gary in their GSC appearances? "Red" and "Blue" feel really innapropiate. The anime may not be "canonical", but those were the first names in the default name list. And I would like to know what they were called in the Japanese versions. I'm inclined to believe that they got "Satoshi" and "Shigeru" (Ash and Gary), not "Aka" and "Midori" (Red and Green).

Bah, we will probably have to settle for the names of the games as the "official" names for the Pokémon characters.

The Custom Robo charaters talk and have a personality unlike most other unnamed characters(Animal Crossing, Pokemon). So it's sorta hard to consider them to be "you" becuase they may act completely different from you. But I don't know much about the series, just the one game, so I can't really make an opinion on this. =/

Oh, and I noticed you don't have anything about Adventures of Lolo. Was it not made by Nintendo?

And did you think about adding any of the characters from Wave Race, 1080, or Excitebike?

Adventures of Lolo was developed and published by HAL a good few years before they became Nintendo's best friend. HAL first worked with Nintendo on Kirby's Dream Land, but published some of their own stuff before that. In fact HAL America was quite a big publisher on the NES. Nintendo's published everything HAL has done for nearly a decade now though.

As for Wave Race et al. I've thought about it, and feel I should probably take Fighter Hayabusa off the list for now as well. They're selectable characters, not specific heroes. I mainly want characters who have had adventures. I think if I really focused on the list, the only selectable character to survive would be Captain Falcon... just because he's the "hero" of the series, and not just someone you use to race. Thanks to the comic book, and GX's story mode

On your Gamecube list, you forgot about Wes and Rui (Pokemon Colosseum). You might also want to add the heroes from the GBC version of Mario Tennis (You were able to name them but I'm pretty sure they did have default names).

Actually, I'm pretty sure Ash and Gary were second on the default name list... after Red and Blue. Also, I always thought that maybe Red and Blue were the other two trainers (the ones we never see) in the anime. If you look at the game's official art, the main character looks pretty different from Ash in the cartoons, aside from the fact that he wears a red cap.

I've got GB Mario Tennis plugged into my SP right now! The boy's default name is Alex, but I haven't checked the girl's default name yet.

As for Wes and Rui (well... Wes is the hero really), they will also be added. Boy it's almost as hard keeping this list up to date as it is the website! Slow down Nintendo!

I thought about Teleroboxer too when I was typing my list up. I might well add him.

There's a reason for that. Hoku is not his name... in fact, Hoku literally translates as "Me". So it's a character you name yourself. But don't worry, he's on my hard copy list as "hero of Hajimari no Mori".
