They've pretty much ballsed up Gold there, though. His shorts look dumb. I always thought Gold looked dumb. Who wears shorts and a huge orange jumper? Is he cold or warm? Did he get dressed in the dark? They're going to change the game... I don't want to play Gold/Silver again, I know the puzzles in Gold/Silver, and I know where to find all the Pokemon... I played Silver and Crystal, and now I want something different. Adding a female protagonist doesn't affect much.

I've seen plenty of people walking around in shorts but chucking a jacket on in case its cold.
I've seen nobody that wears shorts that have elastic so that they bunch back into their legs like a waistband, though. Because its stupid.

Why can't they just do a straight-ish port of the game, instead of messing around with it? I don't mind the updating of movelists and such, but this.... *facepalm* If you want a straight port of the game, then just play the old ones.

I would, except the clock function eats up the battery and erases the save data. Besides, FR/LG was a straight-ish port of Red/Blue, so the reasons why they decided to fuck around with this boggles my mind...

If you want a straight port of the game, then just play the old ones. This. Seriously, why are you guys complaining that they've added to the story? Gold and Silver lacked a female lead, so they added one. Besides, FR/LG was a straight-ish port of Red/Blue, so the reasons why they decided to fuck around with this boggles my mind... Huh, really? Bill forces you to go to the Sevii Islands to help him out halfway through the original Red & Blue too? No? Did you throw this kind of tantrum when he did it in FireRed & LeafGreen? Didn't think so. Additions are good. Straight ports of ten-year-old games are bad.

Some additions to Gold and Silver are also good because... wait for it... wait for it... they are definitely not the best Pokemon games any more.
Oh yeah, chew on that one, every single person who thinks they have a correct opinion on the state of the Pokemon (ie everyone on the internet). Gold and Silver are NOT the best Pokemon games, they've been completely superceded by DPP, FR/LG and, even, yes, you know whats coming here... RSE. Without any new editions they'd remain at the bottom of that heap.

I look at a few of the posts here, and I won't name names, but all I see in those certain posts are:
"Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

What's the point of whining about minor details? Look at Brawl. Sure, there are some things they could have done differently, but it's still a fun game.

Pokemon Snap is the best. My girlfriend and I would actually kill for a new Pokémon Snap. Maybe one that isn't on rails, and actually has you explore an open world looking for the Pokémon... But I'm sure we'll just get a few hundred more Mystery Dungeons instead.

I thought the VC port of Super Mario RPG was quite good, even though it is over 10 years old...

VC games aren't ports. They're just the original game. Emulated. Not the same thing. And the majority of them cost around £5.
If they want to rerelease the original versions of Gold & Silver as DSiWare, that's a different story. But I'm not going to pay £30 for a straight port of an 8-bit Game Boy game. Anybody who would is, frankly, an idiot.

Whoever wants to relive the experience of one of their favorite games in all new graphics, and maybe wants to trade those Pokemon into his other games, is not an idiot. Were people idiots for buying the Mario Advanced games? Point is you don't have to change a lot for it to be worth buying again, but I wholeheartedly embrace these changes and look forward to what they have added.
