Uh... I hate it when people try to analyze something they're not an expert on. I don't think this guy knows too well about Samus' past.

I agree Koopaul. Don't remember what line it was, but something made me think that.
However, the Other Metroid is a pretty good idea. Given the timeline placement, I doubt it is though. Samus seemed awfully convinced of the Metroids' complete extinction in Fusion.

According to an interview with Team Ninja's Yusuke Hayashi, the trailer for Other M makes the game look "more action-packed" and "a little more violent" than it actually is. He also emphasizes that it will still be "distinctly Metroid" and not just a Ninja Gaiden version of Metroid. He also adds, "I'm going to have a version that you guys can actually get your hands on fairly soon." Of course, with Nintendo, "soon" is a relative term.

REMEMBA ME Look what you made me do now, 8bitretro. This man still piqued my curiosity. If not in any games before, was there any indication of him in any other media, such as that manga? If not that either....no, we don't remember you, buddy. (All that's been said of him is that he's one of Adam's soldiers) What would make you think that he's the former Sylux, Masamune? Isn't Sylux of a much different species? It seems it's been confirmed that this is actually between Super Metroid and Fusion.

It seems it's been confirmed that this is actually between Super Metroid and Fusion. Oh yeah, that was revealed right around the game's announcement. If not the same day, then at least a few days after.

...it would be really bitchin if he was the guy from Kraid's Lair in Super. I know he's not, but damn would that be a cool reference

Here's an article from Kotaku that's pretty interesting. In it, Yoshio Satamoto implies that Other M will be a more story & character driven game like Metroid Fusion.

As long as Other M doesn't force you to find all the hidden areas in order to progress in the game like Fusion did, I'm cool with that ;D

I know you crossed it out, but I was suggesting he was Sylux when I thought the game took place before the Prime series. Aside from that, Sylux's species is never indicated. His armor seems vaguely human-shaped though.

Here's a pretty good interview from Wired magazine, even tho it covers a lot of things we've heard before. It does mention that the third company involved with Other M is D-Rockets, who created pre-rendered cutscenes for other Team Ninja games. Also, I thought Sakamoto had some interesting responses involving the Prime series. Wired.com: Metroid Prime, for a lot of people, was a great console Metroid experience. What is it that you want to do differently?
Sakamoto: You might be aware of this, but I actually wasn’t that involved in the development of the Prime series. The goal in creating Metroid Prime was to create the ultimate first-person adventure, and I do think that Retro was able to do that. My approach, my concept, is a little bit different in terms of gameplay. And the story I want to tell with Other M can’t be achieved with that approach. So I think my take on this project is quite a bit different than Retro’s.
. . .
Wired.com: What about the rest of the Metroid series? Will there be another Prime game? Will the handheld games continue on DS?
Sakamoto: With regards to the Prime series, if the team at Retro comes up with an idea that does bring a sequel to the series to fruition, I by all means encourage them to do that. But I’m not directly involved with the Prime games. In terms of the Metroid series stories that I’ve told, the games that I’ve been involved in, I started with the NES Metroid and took it through Fusion. I’m hoping to tie the Super Metroid and Fusion stories together, and until I do that I can’t think about what happens after Fusion, but if the concept does come to me I’d like to continue the story and see how far it can go.

Hm... I thought so. I kinda felt they wouldn't take Prime into respects.

Hm? What do you mean, Koopaul? It seems they are getting respect to me, but perhaps you mean something else.
Anyone else wonder what he means by tying the stories of Fusion and Super together? They seem fine to me.

I don't know maybe I misread it but it doesn't seem like he considers Prime an important part of the whole Metroid story. Also it doesn't look like anything Retro did will be taken into consideration for this game.
That's what I get from that read. But maybe I'm wrong.

I don't think it's that Sakamoto doesn't consider the story of the Prime games to be important, but rather that he considers them to be a self-contained side-story (which they are). I'm sure he doesn't intend to de-canonize them or anything.

Yeah I worry myself over nothing. I once thought there wasn't going to be any Prime content in Brawl other than stickers.
