A Warren Spector interview provides more details. - Junction Point wanted to make some episodic downloadable games before Epic Mickey - In the beginning, they didn’t want to use Alice in Wonderland because because of confusion with the recent movie - Disney core characters (no Winnie the Pooh) - no human characters - no Pixar nor other modern productions - there will be some explanation of the references to Disney, but many are left up to the player to catch - 2D storyboard, storytelling moments are inspired by Disney Legend Mary Blair - graphics evolved as part as the natural development process - lighting aspects weren't included in the first batch of screens, as it was just a prototype - The Guardians have a name, and there are some mysteries behind them - This is Spector’s 20th game - Paint and thinner is a “critical part of our game” and “it’s something that hasn’t been done before in any other game”. “The first game that allows you to restore things” - How important friends and family are to you is a major focus of the plot - Carl Barks is Spector’s favorite comic artist and second is Floyd Gottfredson, who created Phantom Blot - Phantom Blot has changed a bit - More interest in Ducktails game: “Uncle Scrooge was Indiana Jones before Indiana Jones” - multiple endings gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=134997I thought Pixar had a role on this game? Or was that just on CG cutscenes or something like that? EDIT: Ah wait, they probably mean in the game story itself.

This game intrigues me more and more, especially as I've become a little more familiar with Spector's prior work with Deus Ex. I hope everything turns out as well as it's appearing to!

Well, I'm happy. Going to preorder this bad mamma jamma- just wish they'd announced the release date earlier.
BTW, I don't think this has been mentioned- some of the Beetleworx are based on the vultures from the Jungle Book. This seems like an odd, obscure choice for a character, but they have some significance in Disney lore. The Beatles were asked to voice them!

Thank god, Gamestop had the North American release as November 1st, the same day Tron Evolution comes out, and I'm getting the special editions for both. This saves my wallet soooo much pain.

Have you guys the special edition? Here it is! It has a Wii cover, a Wiimote cover, a bonux DVD and an action figure of Mickey. There also exists a kickass Paintbrush nunchuck. EDIT by Nester: Fixed the link.

Awesome! It's cool to see a Wii game get the whole Collector's Edition treatment. I'd want to buy it if I could afford it.
It's a little weird that the Nunchuck is a paintbrush, tho, since you use the Remote for painting and erasing.

Thanks for fixing the link, Nester!
On topic, another of the 2d sections has been revealed, this one based on Alpine Climbers, a 1936 Mickey/Donald/Pluto cartoon. So far, the 2d sections include Steamboat Willie, Lonesome Ghosts, Mad Doctor, Plutopia, Clock Cleaners and Alpine Climbers- a great selection of classic cartoons, although only one is from later than the 30s.

That's awesome!
I rushed to see the price on Amazon and it's $65... Hmm.

Only $65? I didn't check the price, and I just kind of assumed it would be in the $80-100 range. 65 actually doesn't sound that bad.
Hmm.....

And at amazon, you can get it with free shipping since it's over $25 and directly from them.
Yep, I pre-ordered it.

Here's a look at Tomorrow City, along with more Warren Spector. The Nautilus still looks creepy, but in a good way!

Oh man, that looks great. The one time I went to Disneyland, Tomorrowland was under reconstruction. So, I never got to ride Space Mountain or any of that classic stuff. In fact, some of it was shut down while I was there. So, it's always been a part of the park that stuck out to me.
The two 2D sections shown were Mickey's Mechanical Man
and Plutopia, one of the last Disney classic shorts, and certainly one of the strangest:
At this point, we are looking at around a dozen and a half 2d sections revealed, I think.
Whoa, looks like I way overestimated the amount of 2d levels shown thus far. From Wikipedia: * Clock Cleaners * Alpine Climbers * Lonesome Ghosts (these first three are notable for being Mickey, Donald and Goofy team up cartoons.) * Jungle Rhythm * Steamboat Willie * Mickey and the Beanstalk (Interesting in that it is a movie segment, not a classic short.) * Plutopia (A Pluto short, interestingly enough) * Mickey's Mechanical Man * Oh What A Knight (An Oswald cartoon!)

Here's a great featurette on the animation of Epic Mickey:
