Zelda's Wallmasters scared me when I was a kid as well. Mario 3 - The ominous music of Dark Land terrified me. And that Sun...he really creeped me out, too. Its angry face was a stark contrast to most of the other enemies. And Big Boss Bass, too. Gah. XD Totally with you on Wallmasters and Boss Bass. When I was a kid, the threat of that man-eating fish was terrifying - especially in World 7 when the land dropped away for ages, leaving you thrashing about in the water. Wallmasters continued to scare me in ALttP when I should have been older and wiser. It's one thing for an enemy to remove hearts, and quite another to remove your hard-earned time and effort! And there's no guarantee you'll get through that room next time either!

Ooh! That fucking shark in Banjo-Kazooie. When that Jaws music starts playing you know you have to get out of there, fast.

I don't know why, but Myst totally freaked me out as a kid. I tried to play in once and got so scared that I never tried it again.

That piano in SM64, that suddenly comes alive and chases after you if you venture too close to it. It wouldn't normally be too bad, but seeing as there's a red coin near it...
Also that boss in OoT, who you have to fight in order to get the Lens of Truth.

Andross. But can you really blame me? I mean, they WERE 64 graphics.
Also OoT as a whole. 3/4th of the enemies made me shit bricks, thus I never bothered to try and beat it.

Also that boss in OoT, who you have to fight in order to get the Lens of Truth. Dead Hands h0439jg43f4e I was about to say that their clicky-squooshy wiggling-towards-you sound creeped me out and I hated the well because of them ;__; Don't even get me started on the fucking Seahats in Wind Waker. It's like holy shit it's a pineapple that wants to eat me and it's chasing me and aaaaaaaaaaaa D: Every time I go into an area with Seahats I have to snipe them with arrows, which is made harder by the fact that it's almost always stormy when I go to those sectors. And you want to know what? Wind Waker's ReDeads scare the piss out of me, moreso than OoT's and TP's. To this day I avoid Big Boo's Haunt and Hazy Maze Cave in SM64/DS, for various reasons. HMC was just a huge labyrinth and the poison floor freaked me out because you could get so lost in there, and the Monty Moles and Sniffits were absolutely no help. >_< I'm crazy-intimidated by Peter's chapter in Eternal Darkness because it's the only level where you can't get a melee weapon before the Bonethieves appear, and Bonethieves dodge bullets. Edward's doesn't do much good for me either because of that stupid vampire monster.

Bongo Bongo? I couldn't hate him because of the awesome name and bizarre way you have to fight him. The entire Spirit Temple, on the other hand, was horrible. When the pirate ship starts moving and you have to fight Stalfos on the deck... I'm pretty sure the first time I did that I fought them in terror until the ship sank at the other end. To this day I avoid Big Boo's Haunt and Hazy Maze Cave in SM64/DS, for various reasons. You don't like Big Boo's Haunt because of the Merry-Go-Round music, do you

Replayed a bunch of old games again lately and remembered more stupid old fears. Mario Land for gameboy: The Daisey theme changing into that spooky melody while Daisey transforms into some monstrosity creeped me out. Also whenever a boss moaned after hitting it with bullets. I actually felt bad hurting them. City Connection for NES: I hated this game, I was afraid that one of those cats would suddenly pop up and end up on my bumper. When it did the goofy music and the cat slowwwwly flying offscreen while making a hurt face TERRIFIED me. Ooh! That fucking shark in Banjo-Kazooie. When that Jaws music starts playing you know you have to get out of there, fast. That Rusty Bucket Bay area was the worst. Like falling down into a cage of toxic water wasn't bad enough, you'd have that fish biting your ass while looking for a way out.

Naw, actually, I love that music ;D It's actually more because of the piano and the fact that you could only attack the Boos when you had your back turned to them. Best music in the game, most terrifying stage. To this day I hate doing that stop-the-propellers-and-hurry-outside-the-ship section because I get so nerve-wracked during it.

The piano in SM64 startled me, too.
Zoda Spawn in StarTropics were pretty freaky. The first fight with Zoda was also scary, too.
Likelikes in Ocarina of Time were terrifying. Redeads didn't seem to faze me all that much, though.
My most hated enemy in the original Zelda were Zoras, though. They scared me really well back in the day, mainly because of their sneaky potshots and that they shifted around fairly often. Once I figured out I could kill them, things got better. I also remember Digdogger frightening me, since I couldn't immediately figure out the flute was required to pummel it. And Manhandla was a beast when it lost its mouths...I know I ran away from it more than once as it got too fast for me to handle. XD I know there's more.

I still have a small heart attack when encountering Like Likes, even in the older Zelda games. There's a room in the first Legend of Zelda that's full of Anti-Fairies, Like Likes and Wizzrobes, and it's like walking into an 8-bit nightmare!!
The Anti-Fairies in the second quest that steal your sword... Now they're just bastards!!

Even in Majora's Mask, when you could one-hit KO them with Zora Link's electric shield move, I hated dealing with them.

LOL Man, I get that feeling from Darknuts in the original Zelda. I HATED them. They would ALWAYS turn on me when I tried to attack them. Gah. At least they weren't in that room you mentioned, too. XD The fireballs in Donkey Kong unnerved me a bit back when I was a wee boy playing the arcade cabinet. They were especially bad when their random twittering got them up a ladder and they stayed there. Nowadays, they're no sweat, but I was playing this back when I was 3 - 4, so I had little to no clue what I was doing. XD It should go without saying that Metroids are terrifying beyond any enemy I have encountered, though. But they're genuinely scary...so they don't really count.
