Thought this was a funny comment Sakaguchi made after his BAFTA presentation: My daughter said to me: "Lost Odyssey, Final Fantasy, The Last Story — why do all your games have the same name?", so my next game will definitely be called something different. Confirmed! Sakaguchi's next game is "Something Different TM"! (Platform not yet announced.) Ha ha! Thank you Sakaguchi's daughter, we owe you one. Looking forward when Last Story hits the stores next week (I live in Europe), day one buy.

This is on my birthday list for a few weeks. Why? I don't even like RPGs! Oh yeah, because I do buy everything Nintendo makes. *sigh*

As someone who's dying for this game, I appreciate all of you who are picking this up in Europe. Fry - If you don't like it all that much, maybe we can work out a deal.

It'll be like Xenoblade Chronicles. I'll enjoy the first few hours, get stuck and abandon it. Scratch that... I do that with every RPG...

^ Now, don't you feel somewhat vindicated for supporting Solatorobo? Been following the action on Twitter. Hironobu Sakaguchu has been Tweeting about it in both Japanese and English, and also posted this image. Soraya Saga tweeted a congratulations at him in Japanese. Eric Kozlowsky of Retro Studios congratulated Operation Rainfall, as did Game Informer's Philip Kollar. I kinda figured if NoA were going to announce The Last Story, it would be before the release of Xenoblade so that there wouldn't be any gaps between announced software. What surprised me was XSEED's involvement. I figured GameStop might want the exclusive again so that when people went in to pick up Xenoblade, they would then pre-order The Last Story. They can still do that, but with XSEED, I'm guessing the game will be available at a wider variety of retailers (thank goodness).

Is it not a little ironic that the biggest news from NoA Nintendo Direct was that TLS NA release is XSeed publishing and not NoA?
Also the timing happens to be very convient as it allows NA importers to cancel their European pre-orders.

Is it not a little ironic that the biggest news from NoA Nintendo Direct was that TLS NA release is XSeed publishing and not NoA? I could read into that in all kinds of ways. Is TLS coming to North America because Xenoblade pre-orders are going well, or did XSEED approach Nintendo the same way GameStop supposedly did? After all, if Xenoblade had increased NoA's confidence in it, why wouldn't they publish it themselves? On the other hand, whatever deal NoA may have worked out with XSEED must've been satisfactory for them, because Nintendo wouldn't do anything they expected to lose money on. (Altho they've been making plenty of mistakes with that lately.) I'm also reminded of Satoru Iwata's comments about how it was a mistake for them to try to go it alone and do everything by themselves. This might be part of their attempt at opening up and partnering with other companies. At any rate, I think it's encouraging that NoA announced this themselves and as part of an event (even if minor) rather than just haphazardly blurbing it on Twitter and Facebook as they did with Xenoblade. Anyway, that's my amateur analysis.

Just to pass along, XSEED is not relocalizing the game or anything - they're using Nintendo of Europe's work. Source. (it's so fun sourcing myself ) It'll be due out sometime this summer.

Congrats to the gringo bastards who can now get this game. I might get it someday, but I a) don't know what the story's about b) am not much of an (J)RPG fan (though Xenoblade sounds interesting) and c) am kind of swamped with all the 3DS games I want and then the WiiU. Now, you might think "Shadrio, why don't you get a job?". I'm sorry, but this old body isn't what it used to be (AKA I'm a 21 lazy bastard). Anyway, I hope it sells well, but not too well, so it gets a price drop after a few months or years (It's 2012, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 is still USD49.99... *sigh*)

Just wanted to mention that Operation Rainfall is still planning to mass-contact NoA tomorrow, but having been preempted by the announcement of The Last Story, they now want everyone to instead just say "thanks" to NoA and XSEED. They do not want people asking for Pandora's Tower or any other game. This will just be a time of appreciation. On a side note, Mistwalker's Twitter individually responded to everyone who thanked them for The Last Story. They tweeted at me, "Tweet us how you like it after you play it." I know it's no big deal, but it still made me feel kinda special. How nice of them!

That's cool of them to do. If I get the time, I'll be thanking Nintendo and XSEED tomorrow somehow.
