That's just the cover from the first game.

Yeah, you can also see Gambit and War Machine hanging out over there. Still, it's interesting that they'd throw that in there, as it's only gonna rile people up even more. Hopefully it's at least a subtle hint at future DLC plans, and not Capcom being a dick for the sake of being a dick.

Well, so the endings I posted awhile back DID confirm the likes of Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Nemesis, and Phoenix Wright.

I just discovered this after Teev mentioned it on Facebook. I'm pretty sure Capcom are just trolling us now.

Not a game though, just a bunch of merchandising. I think Capcom did the same thing with Monster Hunter before

The author of that article is jumping to massive conclusions, though - all that has been announced is some merchandise of hello kitty wearing street fighter garb. Not sure why that would mean a game is 'bound' to follow.

I wouldn't put it past them. Capcom's...been pretty weird lately...

It's just... bizarre to me. I can't imagine there's much (if any) overlap between Hello Kitty fans and Street Fighter fans.

I don't think it's worth getting pissed over, weird as it is.

Oh, I'm not pissed. Just very, very confused. Suddenly some of Capcom's long-running popular franchises are not considered commercially viable, but this is?

I would imagine there is a lot less risk involved in printing up some hello kitty merchandise than there is making a 3DS game or whatever, though. I don't see the problem.

In the case of the Ace Attorney games, the games are already made. I would've thought it would cost less to translate them and print some English box art than it would to manufacture a range of merchandise for something I can't see many people being interested in.

Then you're underestimating the insane popularity of Hello Kitty. The fact they have plenty of specific Hello Kitty stores even out here in the West speaks volumes. No I don't think SF fans will run to the stores to buy Chun-li kitties, but Hello Kitty fans/collectors will.
I'm also betting the Monster Hunter cross-over was $$$ succesful enough for Capcom to go ahead with this thing. Up next, Hello Kitty Wesker!
