Which pretty much means that SonicTeam is doing the right thing by releasing Sonic 4 episodically. Theoretically speaking, anyway.

It depends, really. I'm all for it if it means we get some undiluted Sonic action, but Sonic games make their money off of kids buying them, and in my experience kids don't tend to do the whole downloadable games thing. Hopefully it'll be good, and will make enough money that they'll keep doing it and improving on it. But I'm being a pessimist about that for now.

GamesRadar has an interesting article that argues that Sonic Colors is truly the first Wii game with "360-quality graphics." (Barring HD, of course.)

I knew it, Sonic Colors must've been the real thing Sega was doing all the time.
Yep, looks like Sonic Unleashed, expect Werehog gets the boot, but the controls are good as well...
Hmm... definitely something I might buy. (-lwl-)

The day half of Unleashed was fantastic. If this game is basically just Unleashed minus Werehog, then it'll be exactly what I've been wanting in a 3D Sonic.

Remember that graphics don't make a game. It's the gameplay itself. As such, as is the case with all Sonic games, I have every intention of waiting for a non-fanboy's opinion on the game before getting this if I get it at all. You know, provided I don't have another "FUCK BEING POOR" moment.

Based on the videos and screens the graphics look surprisingly not terrible. The environments give off a heavy Sonic CD/Knuckles Chaotix vibe, something that's been sorely missing from the franchise for years.

You're right that graphics don't make a game, but that doesn't mean they should be disregarded. Video games are kind of like soup. (I'm not too good at analogies, so bear with me.) Some ingredients may be more important than others, but the final product is dependent on all of the ingredients it is made of.

@ Kirbychu: Yeah, if I weren't poor as fuck. I'm not looking for the idiotic "OMG DIS GAEM SUX" or "OMG DIS GAEM ROX," I'm looking for legit complaints. I form my own opinions. I just can't afford to form them about everything that exists ever.
@ Nester: No, of course. That's just me pointing out that stake. But I DO disregard graphics on the grounds that we've had many, many games released with lower-quality graphics, and there are gems amongst them. I mean, fuck, I couldn't imagine a world without the NES, and looking back, those graphics blew. And remember how everyone was bitching about Wind Waker's cell-shading? Well, everyone seemed to like that game. The only time graphics fuck the game up is when they're just that bad. Like a drunken 2-year-old on MS Paint could do a better job. And don't ask me why the 2-year-old is drunk. I wouldn't want to know.

I actually thought Wind Waker was one of the most gorgeous games in the series. I could stare at those vistas all day.

No, I'm not saying it was an ugly game or that it had particularly bad graphics. But remember? At first, everyone was complaining that it was all cell-shaded and different. Graphics make not a game. Although in that case, it kinda DID, since Zelda games are notoriously awesome anyways.

Funny. Now that I know the game supports Gamecube controls I'm more excited about it. Probably because this means I won't have to waggle the 'mote for delayed jumps.

I hate post this, but Sega was quick to point out that they "have made no announcements about controller compatibility." So, Classic/GameCube controls are unconfirmed. (Nintendo Channel data can be wrong.)

Apparently the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed supported them, so if this game is along the same lines hopefully it will too.
On the other hand, maybe there's a reason Sonic Colors is a Wii exclusive. Maybe some of those powerup aliens rely on motion sensing for their gimmicks, or something. I'm hoping not, though. Sonic Team have had nothing but failures in the motion-sensing department, in my opinion.
