I think there is a type of Dreamcast memory card that can be played with itself. It's also doubling up as a screen that can be seen by just one player. That thing was really fun.

One thing I don't like about SEGA's controllers though - they're too big. I think the Dreamcast one achieved something even Xbox didn't: it's just plain too heavy when both of its expansion slots are loaded.

Damn these rumors are flying thick an fast . . .

- retail cost of anywhere between $350 and $400
- will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October
- earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November
- built on revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture
- will out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor

- clocking speeds will be faster
- 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well
- overall size will be comparable to that of the original Xbox 360
- likely to resemble a modernized version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System
- utilize controllers with integrated touchscreens and be capable of streaming games to each controller
- could feasibly provide a virtualized console for each individual unit
- considering naming the platform Stream, but there are several other names being considered

Let's see...

- Price: Well, that's just.... I'm considering waiting for second-hand machines now.
- So they're still using that suicidal plant? Let's see what their next CSR report will say...
- It's more powerful than PS3? So? Wii was said to be more powerful than the original Xbox as well. And we got 640*480 madness.
- Aha, so PowerPC is... not completely extinct.
- "clocking speeds will be faster" is a vague way of putting it. If it's not, I don't know if this system should be made at all.
- They should do 3D, really.A good step to finally trying not to fall behind other systems.
- Size similar to X360? Good enough for me.
- "Modernized SNES".... now that's somehting worth looking forward to.
- Streaming games? Sounds like the job of home-portable connectivity to me.
- "Feasibly" provide virtualized console? Oh no please don't. Make it a must.
- Stream? The moment I read that I thought it said "Steam"! So no, really. Just no.

.....I hope most of these are not true, to be honest. But aren't things a bit TOO specfic at this stage?

But then, this fan video before E3 2005 (arguably my least favorute E3 retrospectively (read: Nintendo was a big liar)) was rather specific too.

I dunno, it looks pretty fishy too me...anybody can use Times New Roman on a plain white background. If it was a scan of a document, or at least more official-looking, I'd be more willing to buy it.

I'll be completely wrong of course. I think I'm batting .000 for every instance I've been skeptical about something. Epic Mickey, the box art for Brawl...pretty much everything. But I'm gonna stick to my guns on this one.

Yeah, well, Nintendo kinda confirmed the Wii 2's E3 reveal at their investors conference. Sooo whether or not that scan is real is kinda irrelevant.

Some opinion of mine of Wii U:

Goods:
- HD, finally! I'm tired of... (insert rants about no HD here)
- A more native surround audio support too. No more trying to produce 5.1 audio by splitting the 2.0 signal using composite cables.

Bads:
- Only one controller per system. What's the point in making it a home console if only one can use the (new) controller?
- Is not backward compatible whatsoever. Sure, it plays Wii games, but this is somehow negated by the fact that quite a few of my games are played with the GC controller. This, and the fact that Nintendo would delete user data (save files) when you try to migrate the downloaded games.
- You have a second screen. If Nintendo DS taught me anything, it would be that the second screen would be used in a lot of cases, and therefore trying to switch from TV to this screen would involve more than just a simple API for swapping screens.

I-don't-knows:
- The controller. It's a mix of awesome and "how do I hold this controller?" I also don't like its Classic Controller-like layout, although by now I don't hate it either.
- The games. This will have to wait.
