Vince (Art Academy, New Art Academy And Art Academy Sketchpad but not Pokemon Art Academy, that's his brother Professor Andy) Vince appears on stage and sets up an easel and canvas and starts painting. This causes large lines of paint to appear around the stage and even off the stage that can act as platforms or barriers (sort of like the linework in the Pictochat stage) But now here's the next idea. Different colored paint lines can actually provide status buffs to fighters standing on them. Eg, red increases attack strength, yellow increases speed, blue heals slowly, green increases jump height/spring like effect, black might be slippery (like oil) etc. So there could be situations like small vertical lines that serve as walls, or a green line below a ledge or a long blue line that could appear underneath a stage like Battlefield, causes players to fight there. Eventually the lines will start flashing and the paint lines will be removed (just to alert players if they happen to be standing over the edge on a paint line and need to know when to get off it).

Double Cherry (Super Mario 3D World)Just pick one up and you'll create a double of your fighter, who moves and attacks in unison. You aren't able to get a third "double", by the way. The double fighter is temporary and will disappear after a while. Ice Flower (Mario series)Like how the Fire Flower shoots flames at enemies, the Ice Flower will shoot an icy mist that will freeze them. Piranha Plant (3D World and Mario Kart 8) It's in the pot. Hold onto it when you pick it up, but you can't attack with A when you hold it. But when you get near other players, it will automatically lash out and snap at them. Skull Hammer (Zelda: The Wind Waker)Press A to swing it to attack others. But use a Smash Attack with it, and you'll slam it on the ground, causing a shockwave and dealing significant damage to an unlucky opponent. Anyone nearby won't be damaged, but pushed back like wind from the impact of the slam. Laser (Star Fox)Remember how unconventional things like the Fire Bar, Steel Diver, and Hocotate ship got converted into items? This has a trigger added to the bottom of it, and is a shooting weapon. Press A once to make it shoot lasers (from the two things on the side). And hold A to charge your laser! You can also lock on the enemies this way! (...What? I'm serious) Wario Bomb (WarioWare)It's a throwing/explosive item. Pick it up, and it starts flashing red. Throw it, but nothing happens, and it lands on the ground regularly. Pick it up again and keep throwing it. But later on, the 3-2-1 will appear over it and then it goes off, regardless of where it is and who’s holding it. Ultra-Spicy Spray (Pikmin)Pick this up and it will power up your stats significantly and make your character burn up with a red fiery aura. Of course, it's temporary. Fishing Rod (Animal Crossing)I always found it odd how the Villager didn't have this as part of his/her moveset, not even as a tether recovery. It's used like a battering item, but it can grab items from afar and bring them to you. Also opponents and ledges (when pressing A in the air) Prism Shield (Kirby's Return to Dream Land)Like how the Back Shield protects you from behind, this item will be an overhead shield for you as you continue fighting.

Qbby (Box Boy series) Walks around and leaves joined boxes in random arrangements, creating platforms and walls. If attacked he dons the "block afro" then walks around like a turtle which can push other characters around. Doesn't cause any damage.

In light of Smash Bros. Ultimate, here are some Assist Trophy ideas I just got: Puyo PuyoThey'll fall around all over the stage, making more walls and ground. Damaging players when dropping or popping on them, too. Karate JoeHe'll just stand in place and punch pots and stuff at the other opponents. He'll then finish with a kick or an uppercut. DarukSwings his weapon at opponents and attacks with the Goron roll on occasion. YugaAttack with his "brush" and shoots energy shots at others. Omega MetroidRelies mostly on its attack pattern from Samus Returns. KrackoFlies around and follows some players, then shocks them with lightning from above.

I've got this:
Some Panel de Pon character
Doesn't matter who that is. Lip, Furil, someone else, the attack will be the same: summon a giant garbage block and have it drop onto the ground. Any fighter caught in it will take damage, but not crushed and lost stock. The block will remain on the stage as part of the terrain for a while before disappearing.

Because I said I would. This is Zanik. She's a cave goblin from RuneScape who plays a prominent role in one of the game's quest-lines (most of which see her in a brand new redesign. This is the one that Jagex seems to have settled on, which is great because it was getting absurd how many face-lifts she was getting.) Her skills are adventuring, public speaking, military strategy, assassination, and being needlessly adorable. For Smash Bros., we'll be designing her as an Assist Trophy, focusing on one of those skills...no, not public speaking. So when you spawn Zanik, she will smash a moving-over-distance sphere (so named because Oldak, its inventor, is terrible at naming things) and teleport to a random location on the stage - specifically, any location an item can spawn where there is a solid platform underneath her. After teleporting, she will key into the nearest enemy fighter and fire her crossbow at them. Zanik has several moves she can use; she can teleport, fire a standard shot, or use Snipe, Fragmentation Shot, Incendiary Shot, Pulverise, or Defiance. Under normal circumstances, she'll teleport to a location then fire 4 shots at the nearest target. This repeats until she's teleported 6 times. If she takes damage, she'll leap backwards then fire a Frag Shot at her attacker to cause a damage-over-time effect. If she's particularly far from her target, she'll use Snipe, aiming for a second before firing but also disabling their shield for 2 seconds. If her target is shielding, she'll use Defiance to instantly destroy the shield; after the target leaves stun, their shield will be disabled as if she'd used Snipe. Deadshot and Pulverise are finishers; after she has used all 6 teleports, if she ends up near an opponent, she'll pull out the kyzaj, this giant thing, and use Pulverise to launch her target high up. If she's got some distance, she'll instead use Incendiary Shot, firing a shot that is effectively a really powerful gooey bomb. Either way, after she uses either, she teleports away. Some final notes: If Zanik falls off stage, she'll teleport back on after crossing the blast line, consuming 1 teleport. She teleports between attacks unless she's using her standard shots, in which case she teleports after the fourth shot in the cycle. The shield-locks don't affect special moves like Reflector or PSI Magnet, nor does it affect character-specific shields like Link's Hylian Shield or Bowser Jr.'s Clown Car effect. It is specifically against the bubble shield.

Cool ideas! Before Ultimate as well as DLC like Sans/Cuphead, I imagine most would see the chances of a MMORPG rep in Super Smash Bros. being added to Smash Bros. as virtually 0%, but maybe now Runescape or another MMORPG like World of Warcraft, and MMORPGs already on Nintendo consoles have a chance. Runescape would be interesting because it would be another game in addition to Banjo Kazooie (Rare) (Star Fox was worked on by Argonaut as well as Nintendo though) originally from a British studio.

So I've been thinking about Pokémon a bit lately - not sure why, even granted Scarlet and Violet - and I remembered a topic I've thought on in the past: Smash Bros.' Pokémon representation in contexts besides characters is surprisingly lacking. Even stages are oddly underrepresented across the series, but there are actually zero Pokémon Assist Trophies (which makes sense because the Poké Ball's been filling that role since before Assist Trophies existed in the first place) and only one Pokémon item - two if you count the Master Ball, but I don't because I mean it's the same item but for Legendaries. But I can actually think of items and non-Pokémon Assist Trophies...well at least one non-Pokémon Assist Trophy, so here you go: One item, and one Assist. Item: King's Rock Game: Pokémon Gold/Silver King's Rock is a badge. When you have a King's Rock, you have all of your normal moves, however, there is a 30% chance that your attacks will cause a shield-break dizzy effect. This effect does not apply to launching moves. This effect lasts for an amount time that depends on the target's damage percent and by how powerful the move used was, with higher damage output resulting in longer stuns. Moves that launch the target are unaffected by King's Rock. Obvious benefits to projectile users, but also helpful for bigger characters with meatier but slower attacks. Assist Trophy: Nurse Joy* Game: Pokémon Red/Blue Nurse Joy is a non-attackable Assist Trophy, standing just off the main combat plane so attacks pass by her. Joy has 6 Super Potions, and if any fighter pulls up their shield in range, she will spray them with one of her potions. She does not spray fighters if the potion would heal more than their current damage, and she has a cooldown before she'll heal the same fighter twice. Although she will spray anyone, she does recognize the fighter who summoned her and the benefits for the summoner are greater than for other fighters. Each Super Potion heals 50% damage and has a 5 second cooldown for her summoner's opponents, while the Super Potions heal 60% damage with a 2.5 second cooldown for her summoner and their allies. *Name and image based on the anime counterpart, however the concept is just as applicable to the unnamed Pokémon Center Nurses that you see in-game.

Assist Trophy: There is no representation in Smash maybe because Nintendo lost the rights (Spiral was a Marigul company produced (supervised?) by Tsunekazu Ishihara) but if they do Kevin and a MonTac would be interesting. Whenever they appear, the little dungeon-crawling grid-HUD appears (original GBC graphics) and the monster travels across it, damaging any opponent within its hit box.
