Yeah except don't make it Galaxy themed. We're done with that. But yes a 3D Mario platformer with 4 Players that's not 50% Toads would be awesome. Are you suggesting that it's WALUIGI TIME? I hope so.

The galaxy setting seems to allow for the biggest variety of settings within a game, and thus a large variety of different levels. So I see no reason to ditch it.
But I agree Waluigi should be in every game ever.

At least in one mainstream Mario. SAME. FOR. DAISY. She hasn't appeared in any mainstream Mario since Land, geez.

Galaxy type levels would work terrible for a multiplayer game because they are broken up into pieces. You need something big, open, and continuous to support four players.

Do you, though? NSMB Wii effectively tethers you all together. In fact, a lot of multiplayer games do. From a techical standpoint, its no doubt easier to force you all into a small area anyway.

Hey, fellow mortals? I just unlocked the actual final stage!
I... think this is the only level in which I will need to play as Tanooki ^_^'

Haha, that was a horrifying final stage! Make sure you guys are Tanooki Mario/Luigi or at least have a backup Super Leaf. There's no photo reward for finishing it. Just a bunch of Toads celebrating your skills by waiting for you around the final flagpole. Clear it if you're a proud 5-star gamer, though Bragging time: after clearing this level with Mario and Luigi, my total of lives is 493. My total of deaths is 253. *proceeds with life, having made the achievement of year 2011*

253 deaths, that's way more than the number of levels in this game. I reset whenever I die to keep the death counter at zero, but my manual counting of that doesn't amount to more than 100 (because 3D Land is actually a relatively short game, despite being more contentful than I expected). I do play with the Statue Leaf on, though, and that makes Luigi a quarter as good as Stone Kirby (who is outright invincible).
Here's a vid to make you feel worse:
I myself didn't bother with beating the game without powerups. With that quite horrible camera, it's just way too easy to accidentally stumble to death without any visible sign.

I got this game yesterday. Been playing it on and off... can't say I'm impressed with the game. I'm just starting world 2 now.

I have to say that so far this game has turned out to be really easy. I'm currently halfway through World 6 and I have 94 lives...

Things so hidden, it's scary.
I'll update the video with a better one if I find it.

Not really a 3D Land question but it sort of relates. Has anybody tried playing Super Mario 64 DS on their 3DS with the analog control? Does it work?

Meh its okay I guess. But when you have an analog control you expect it to feel really good... and this only improves it slightly.

Never tried so I can't tell for sure, but I can imagine it won't improve drastically.
I use the D-pad in most cases when I have the choice and it makes more sense to use it (like when only the basic directions are needed). It doesn't make sense to use the D-pad in Mario 64 except in the Bowser stages (64 and DS), LLL (DS version only) and RR (64 and DS) where the camera doesn't automatically change angles to make running a difficult task. However, since the slide pad will simply map to the basic directions, I'd prefer sticking to the D-pad (compared to the slide pad, that is; I normally play with the stylus), if just to remind myself that I can't walk at angles like 020 or 338 or walk at any desired speed with the slide pad. Compare with playing New SMB Wii with a Nunchuk.

Yes, but the Slide Pad thumb strap...? I don't think it came with my DS Lite or DSi, making it trickier to play.
In fact... I'm not even sure how playable SM64DS is on anything but the original DS Phat...
