Oh yes, one minor thing, but first player is no longer stuck to using just Mario. They can use any character like the other 3 players.

It's an improvement but I still would have gone further. Like gotten rid of the Flagpole like I always say.
Instead maybe the goal is a cannon everyone hops into then when everyone is inside it goes "3... 2... 1..." while this is happening you rapidly shake the remote, then it launches you, whoever shook the most gets launched the farthest and get's the best reward.

The flagpole isn't an issue. It doesn't affect anything to have something besides the flagpole. I mean, let's say they did the cannon thing. Does it change how the game plays? No. It's a single note in a symphony.

Well honestly guys they had sold me with this trailer, specially with at 1:07 where they make a music reference to Super Mario Bros 2.

I don't know, I'm kinda liking how this one's coming out. My biggest superficial issues can always be ignored (dual toadage and price tag), but at least my problem with the difficulty seems to be resolved. I guess I'll just wait until the game is released and then I'll be the judge. Oh, and Teev, don't get the game, you wouldn't like it. Why? Cause this multiplayer game has multiplayer *gasp*... *runs away*
Oh, and a bit off topic (but I don't give a sh-*boop*), I loved it how, when they announced the date the Wii U was going to come out, Reggie commented on "Who won the bet?". I loved how they acknowledged how they knew everyone pretty much knew about the release date before it was announced, thanks to leaked info.

It's an improvement but I still would have gone further. Like gotten rid of the Flagpole like I always say.. Why, though? What would the purpose be? The flagpole is a completely asthetic thing. It has no bearing on gameplay other than the 1up trick. You might as well be complaining about blocks being reused again and again. For that matter, it's also a staple now. Sure, it sat out 2 USA, 3 and World, but it's been in the majority of 2D Mario games now. It's A Thing. Same as mushrooms or ? blocks. You'd be messing with parts of the formula that don't need changing because they have little effect on gameplay.

Also, of all the stage end ideas they've used up to now, the flagpole is the only one that's fun. It's dependent on your platforming skill, rather than blind luck or (aimed at that cannon idea) your ability to flail about like a monkey.

I'm going to be honest, after watching the trailer I honestly can't understand why people are saying this fixes anything. The game still looks like the same thing again. That makes me happy, but I don't know why the haters seem to think it's different.
I was sold all along. It looks great.
Now Nintendo just has to tell me why I should buy it for nearly £100 more than it costs in the US and Japan thanks to their policy of allowing the retailers to set their own prices.
Because that totally worked for the 3DS!! Idiots...

Weren't they court ordered to institute that policy? I thought they were charged of price fixing and were forced to letting retailers determine their own prices.

I don't remember that ever being a thing. I assumed it was just a way to keep the retailers on board as they shift over to digital downloads.
It's a mess. Now the retailers just rip us off EVEN MORE than before.

I'd like to point out that at the end of every castle is a cannon that blasts you on to the airship.
Does Nintendo listen to Koopaul? Nah, that's probably a coincidence.

Well, I didn´t say it fixed everything, just that one of my main complains (using the NSMB main theme for the Fourth time) has been addressed, and any reference to Mario 2 its great for me (even if its just 2 seconds of music) now if they just tried a new art style... but for the time, they got my money.

How you complete a level is very important to the gameplay actually. Besides I'm sick of flagpoles.
My favorite ending was the one where you land on a trampoline and press A at the right time to leap as high as you can! Oh wait... that was Kirby.
In that case my favorite was SMB3 with the card panels. I loved getting three in a row and hearing the "duh duh da duh dadada DAAAA!"
