Personally, I think the DLC are worth it. I purchased the Hero of Hyrule Pack. This includes Hyrule Warriors Master Quest Pack, Twilight Princess Pack, Majora's Mask Pack, and Boss Pack. You get Dark Link costume for Link if you get the Hero of Hyrule Pack. I assume this means you won't get the costume if you got each DLC pack separately. Each pack is $7.99 ($2.99 for the Boss Pack) but all of them together as one pack is $19.99. Also, all of the DLC packs offer 8-Bit weapons from the NES Zelda game. Master Quest Pack includes: - Epona weapon for Link
- Guardian of Time costume for Cia
- Guardian of Time costume of Lana
- 5 more scenarios for Legend Mode (Cia's Tale)
- Master Quest Adventure Mode map
Twilight Princess Pack includes: - Twili Midna as a playable character
- Dominion Rod weapon for Zelda
- Postman costume for Link (perfect for riding Epona)
- Ilia costume for Zelda
- Twilight Princess Adventure Mode map
Majora's Mask Pack includes: - Young Link as a playable character
- Tingle as a playable character
- Skull Kid costume for Lana
- Ocarina of Time costume for Impa
- Ocarina of Time costume for Sheik
- Majora's Mask Adventure Mode map
Boss Pack includes: Is it worth it? I think so... I get more mileage out of the game. I get to play with extra characters. I get to play with extra weapons. I get to do more missions in Adventure Mode (which is ideal for leveling up your characters). The costumes are not necessary for the gameplay but they enhance the experience. This game is really fun! I can't believe I wasn't interested in the game until after my boyfriend got it for me last fall.

It's worth it, especially if you want to get the level 2 & 3 weapons for Cia, Volga, and Wizzro.

Do they at least include new battlefields (not the Adventure maps, but the actual play fields), or are they just the same ones from the main game?

They're the same battlefields as in the base game. Realistically what you're really getting in the DLC are the new characters (Tingle <3), new weapon types, new costumes, the new Adventure mode maps, and all the items that come with those maps.

I hope that they will make Hyrule Warriors 2 in the future... and I wish it would include nominally obscure yet visually familiar locations from 2D Zelda games and Toon Zelda games such as King's Tomb (Zelda II), Pyramid of Power (ALTTP), Mount Tamaranch (LA), Lynna City (OOA), Temple of Seasons (OOS), Great Sea (TWW), Palace of Winds (FSA), Minish Woods (TMC), Mercay Island (PH), Tower of Spirits (ST), Realm of Memories (FSAE; aka 8-Bit Hyrule) and Lorule Field (ALBW).
It would be awesome to play as Link's Uncle and that he gets costumes based on Error, Bagu, River Man from Town of Mido, Hyrulean Knight from Town of Darunia, and Lakeside Item Seller (ALBW; he is based on Merchants of the NES game).
Also, it would be amazing if Link could battle while riding on Ricky, Moosh, and Dimitri just like how he does it with Epona. Hell, fighting while sailing the King of Red Lions would be awesome! I also really want to play as Vaati and the Oracles (Din and Nayru) so bad!

I'd rather a thirty-dollar expansion than a Hyrule Warriors 2, to be honest. Of course, I am referring to a sizable expansion... A new story mode for sure, and a handful of new maps to go with it, maybe a new Adventure Mode, and at least ten new characters.
If Ricky, Dimitri, and Moosh do get in (and I hope they would) they'd make solid characters of their own rather than being relegated to steeds.

I wonder why there isn't a Skyward Sword pack with Groose, and weapons like the whip and a loftwing and one of those cool little robots.

They do need to save some content for the inevitable sequel.

Koei have just announced that they've shipped (not sold) one million copies of this game world wide. For a Warriors game that's quite a significant number of units.

Originally, Koei Tecmo said they hoped to sell one million units, and last I heard, the game was selling even better than expected outside Japan, so they're well on their way. To be honest, I'm not sure how much I would enjoy a Warriors game without all the Zelda stuff in it. ...Unless it were Fire Emblem Warriors. Then I'd be on board.

To be honest, I'm surprised Fire Emblem wasn't the first candidate for a Nintendo-branded Warriors game. It's already pretty similar to Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Fire Emblem has the character diversity to support a Warriors game, but it doesn't have a large enough fanbase to justify the cost of making one. For Fire Emblem Warriors to be successful, basically every fan would have to buy the game (which isn't realistic), with Hyrule Warriors only a fraction of Zelda fans need to buy it to be successful.
Personally, I'm not sure if I actually want a FE Warriors. I love the series, but I am concerned that it would end up being Fire Emblem: Awakening Warriors, and with a series as diverse as Fire Emblem, that would be quite disappointing.

Mario has the character diversity to support a Warriors game and it does have one of the biggest fanbases to justify the cost of making one. I would love to see something like "Mushroom Kingdom Warriors".

Let's just slap a Mario theme on every game in the world and call it a day. Instant money, right? Personally, I'm not sure if I actually want a FE Warriors. I love the series, but I am concerned that it would end up being Fire Emblem: Awakening Warriors, and with a series as diverse as Fire Emblem, that would be quite disappointing. You never know what Tecmo-Koei would do, but I guess this fear is sort of justifiable since HW was largely themed around OoT, MM, TP and SS. However, Awakening itself included a bunch of past characters as a bonus... so maybe there'd be hope?

Let's just slap a Mario theme on every game in the world and call it a day. Instant money, right? I have to agree, horrible idea. I mean, you can slot Mario into many genres to some extent, but on the other hand, this doesn't mean Mario is perfect for every genre ever. Some play styles are better suited for other franchises. Hack-and-slash is similar enough to Zelda to where it's not a complete genre shift. But Mario? You're looking at a completely different genre which will have difficulty being reconciled with Mario's traditional combat technique of "Bounce off of enemy heads." And spin-offs have a real danger of flopping. Even with Mario, many spin-offs never kicked off. When's that sequel to Yoshi's Safari coming? Or Mario Pinball Land? As of now, it's looking like "Never."
