Yeah well, I could give two flying rat shits about Xenoblade and Donkey Kong just so happens to be my favorite series of all time. Hypocrisy... overload... You got two DK characters already. This game isn't being made only for you. Ignoring the part of your post about Mario and Kid Icarus characters, since I've already said twice I don't really care for them... This is the single least fair Smash roster to date in terms of representation, and your lack of perspective is absolutely sickening. I didn't even care that Shulk got in, just as long as I got one DK character. Just one! Is that really so much? Fuck, the Ridley teasing actually paying off would've been nice too! And seeing Mewtwo come back would've made a whole LOT of people happy! But no, Anime Swordsman No. 29477639656 got in and he's SOOOO INTERESTING and his game was SOOOOOO AWESOME, right? He's WAAAAAAAY more deserving than dumb ol' than Donkey Kong, right?So what, now you're insulting people who like Xenoblade because we got one character and you only got two? Do you have any idea how ridiculous and spoiled an attitude that is to take over this? EDIT: It's not that game that's pissing me off so much as the attitude I was given in response to my grievances about said game. The game initially just made really sad. What response? You were the one who got hostile over a post that wasn't aimed at you. :/ I haven't seen a single post from you since the roster leak that wasn't whining about Donkey Kong characters. Calm down. |

Xenoblade is barely a Nintendo franchise as it is, and it's hardly big enough to deserve a character. Donkey Kong and Metroid deserved one more character each far more than Xenoblade deserved anything, and Star Fox didn't deserve to lose a character. And I should definitely think bringing back a fan favorite Pokémon who was sorely missed in the last game is more deserving than any of this.
But no, I'm spoiled! I'm ridiculous! Donkey Kong's not that important! No sirree! Neither is Metroid or Star Fox! Pfff, nobody really cares about Mewtwo, right? Xenoblade is just sooooo much more significant than Pokémon, right?

That wasn't an insult, that was me asking a legitimate question. I did not feel that Monolith Soft "needed" a character, and I wanted to know why he proposed that.

I love Mega Man, I love Pac-Man, and I love how they added silly things like the Wii Fit Trainer or the Dog, but I didn't want to see this stuff get in before Dixie Kong, Ridley, Mewtwo or at the expense of Wolf, Lucas, or even the Ice Climbers!

And it's pretty clear the Ice Climbers are gone because of technical limitations, no new character has pushed them out. And again you didn't want to see that. I didn't want to see Rosalina, Palutena or Robin get in over Isaac, Dillon or Wonder Red. But I'm not gonna throw a tantrum about it, because I understand that this game is also for people who aren't me. And seriously, you'd rather have Dixie than Mega Man or Pac-Man? That's nuts, dude. |

I feel that Brawl already covered all the important characters from Nintendo´s top franchises (MAYBE you could say they missed Punch Out and Animal Crossing but even those got covered in assist trophies and stages) So for Smash 4 everything that was left to do was to cover the new franchises and ad some left field characters and thankfully all of those come with plenty of interesting movesets.
Of the Characters I wanted (Megaman, Tingle, Pokey, Sammy, Tetra and Dillon) I only got Megaman, but from the characters I expected (Mii´s, Little Mac, Palutena, New Fire emblem representative, new Pokemon Representative, Dixie) I got 5. Yes I wont deny the roster this time its a little unbalanced on franchise representation and did some questionable choices (Alph is an alternate yet Pitoo and Dr. Mario are stand alone characters) and I did loose two of my mains (Ice Climbers and Lucas and let you know that MOTHER 3 is my favorite game of all time), but so far Im quite happy with the roster, its weird and unbalanced, but if you want to look ad bad fighting game rosters just look at TNMT Smash-up, Soul Calibur V or I dare to say Melee, this game is way better than what the second smash game did.

People are even more angry about Dark Pit than they were about Wolf! And if Lucas is no better than Lucina, why do we have Lucina? Wolf and Lucas should've been kept in because it's utter bullshit that they were cut yet Dr. Mario came back and Lucina and Dark Pit were added. If you give one series a clone, give every series a clone. It's only fair.
The only reason I feel this strongly about getting a third DK rep is the fact that the roster was already imbalanced starting from Melee. If Star Fox could get three reps in the last game, surely DK could've gotten a third rep this time, right? One the reasons I was hoping for K. Rool is because he got shafted from his own series! If they don't bring him back for one last DKC revival, he may very well just drop off the face of the Earth! How would you like it if Bowser or Ganondorf just up and disappeared forever?
Shulk may be on the same level of obscurity as Ness, but he's only a fraction as interesting. At least I think so. And his game is much more recent right now than Earthbound was at the time the original Smash Bros. was released. Also, nobody had to worry about Ness taking a spot away from an established series due to already-prevalent roster imbalance.
Shit like this is why I've always said Smash should be limited to exactly one character per series from the outset. Unfortunately, that's not how it turned out, so the best I can do is hope my favorite series gets as much lip service as everyone else's, and that's clearly not what happened. And that's why I'm upset. When you shaft Donkey Kong, Star Fox, Earthbound and Metroid in favor of Xenoblade, Duck Hunt, Fire Emblem and Kid Icarus, it makes it look like the latter series are somehow more important overall than the former, and nobody wants to see that happen to something they like.

I could argue that if you put Zelda and Pokemon in the same game as DK, the odds wouldn't exactly be in DK's favor. Fuck, Smash Bros. is the reason Nintendo Database and everyone on it cares so much about insignificant characters in the first place!Nobody here except Leon and I cares about Rhythm Heaven.  |

I'd welcome a Rhythm Heaven character provided I got Dixie or Ridley or Mewtwo along with it!
I also just remembered another reason why Wolf and Lucas getting chopped upsets me. They weren't even full clones! They were obvious semi-clones! Dr. Mario and Dark Pit on the other hand are straight clones except for like one move, and Lucina is an exact clone of Marth! How is that in any way fair?
