OK, here's the "base of operations" for helping out with Fry's Pre-release feature. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to go through the video (and all sceenshots) of the new Smash Bros game, and report back here with any good stuff for Fry.
My contribution: after reviewing the video several hundred times, I've started to try and spot any actual fighting moves used. For example, you can tell that Pikachu's moveset has hardly been changed at all from SSBM.

You can actually tell that none of the four original character's movesets have been changed (aside from the Super attacks), or at least not significantly - just watch them fight at that start, and especially when Snake is in his box. The sound effects apear to be the same, too - notice Kirby's "oooshi" groan when he transforms back from his stone form.
Also, another observation - Samus is hot. Which we already knew, but now we can see more clearly. I think there will be a new substitute for looking up Peach's dress (which, lets face it, everyone has done). Wait, where was I? Oh, I forget.

Ah, yes, you're right of course (umm...about the movesets)
I'd better focus my attentions on the newbie movesets; for example this screenshot shows a Metaknight move:
It looks similar to Link's spin attack move. (Poor Mario's getting a beating! Fight back!)

Well it seems that Metanight will focus on multi hit attacks. His standard can hit about 3-4 times and his >A in the Airs is 3 times. His down attack only hits once. Pits blades in the air seems to produce quick short strikes. His standard attack seems to hit twice at the lease.
Was going to make a "change" American Kirby, but I'm not that skilled at Fireworks.
I expect with blaster, whip and beam swords, she's probably replacing Shiek's multi-weapon capabilities. Doesn't mean Zelda won't be in it, but she probably won't turn all ninja on us again.
Sheik could still appear in TP, though. BUT, if anyone gets axed, they're the most likely, in my book, if Link went all futuristic Twilighty on us and Sheik is absent from that game
Meta Knight's Down B Cloak thing (I'm assuming it's his Down B; moves like that usually go to that assignment) deflects attacks. It bounced Pit's Light Arrow off to the side, which is pretty cool. Don't know if it works like Fox's Reflector or Mewtwo's Confusion, though (OR Marth's Counter, where it only works for that one split second, and sends it off in crazy directions...).
Pit looks like he'll fight similar to Young Link. He's actually kinda speedy, which is cool. Looks like a blend between Young Link, Marth, and Kirby. Which, of course, means all those Gamefaqs goons are crying "BROKEN" or "MY FIRST AND BEST PLAYA." Heh.
And if you noticed, none of the 4 oldies we saw fighting used their normal B specials. Wonder if they weren't programmed yet?
EDIT: I take that back. Pika uses Quick Attack once or twice. Hm. Also, does Wario look smaller than usual to anyone else? He's not as... pudgy.
EDIT 2: Ack. Kirby uses his Up B as well. Okay, forget that altogether and entirely >.>
EDIT 3: Woah. I watched the video around Meta Knight's Cloak attack again in Slow-Mo, and it negated Pit's Arrow entirely. It must be a limited ability then (like he can't move, it only lasts so long), because it just removed the effects entirely
EDIT 4: Man, I can't stop XD I just noticed in the last screen on your Pre-Release page, Fry, that Meta Knight has grabbed Mario. If you watch closely, he does a running grab (so those return ), slashes Mario good (so is that his Z/A Grab?), and tosses him backwards. Coolies!

What about the possibility of a B Throw/Attack? I know there is no evidence whatsoever to say that Metakinght isn't using a normal throw, but I really wouldn't be surprised if there was a special B throw for each character (as that, along with the Super Smashes, would at least make the old characters seem different enough even if they have basically the same moveset).
And regarding Zelda/Shiek, its also worth noting that Zelda has a sword in the twilight Princess artowrk, and so, if she uses it in Twilight Princess, then I'd say theres a good chance she will become the Twilight Princess version of herself (which means, more than likely, that she would be the Twilight Princess)
Can't see them ditching Shiek, though, either - so maybe she'll be on her own? Who really knows?

Ahhhh.. so he's one of those 'cheap' characters them like SC2's Raphael.
"Megaman Claus (MOTHER 3) Lucas (MOTHER 3) King K. Rool (DK Country) King Dedede (Kirby) Geno (SMB RPG) Professor Kawasima (Prof. Kawashima's Brain Training: How old is your Brain?) Kalas (Batten Kaitos) Cheer Group (? Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! ?) Doctor Pepper (? General Pepper from Star Fox?) Sigurd (Fire Emblem) Black Shadow (F-Zero) Takao (female character, 8 years old?) Dragon Chan (Super Punch-Out!!!) G-Red (Gotchaforce) Hammer Bros. Ogma (Fire Emblem)
the cute technician Sawayama (?) (this is entry #54) entry #56 is incomprehensible to me, but it's supposedly about characters entry #59 seems to mention something "sonic," but i can't tell if it's actually a reference to the character and the joke of him being in Melee."
nocturnal YL: I took a look at my past Switch games and found that more than 40% of the games I played contain some kind of fishing.

nocturnal YL: A bit late, but I started Aiyoku no Eustia. I have nothing to say about the story yet because the demo lasted 6 hours and I haven't got past that. There's no save data transfer feature, fast-forwarding takes a while, and I stopped to read at some points.
Nov 3, 2024 6:47:31 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: It has the best file management feature I've seen. 60 normal save slots, 6 autosaves, and 12 more slots automatically saved at decision points. And the save data can be moved, deleted and given comments. It's the most flexible I've seen on console.

Nester the Lark: I think I've gotten a better handle on the combat in Ys X, but I still don't think it feels quite as good as in Ys VIII and IX.

nocturnal YL: Interesting; that's the opposite of what I think. Which part are you in now, by the way?

Nester the Lark: I'm just at the beginning of chapter 7. I've seen very divided opinions on the combat among Ys fans. I don't dislike it, but maybe I'm just used to Ys games having faster combat.

nocturnal YL: Aiyoku no Eustia is quite something. I thought I've somewhat hardened myself having gone through dark stories like Fire Emblem (Jugdral, Hoshido/Nohr, Fódlan) and Surge Concerto, but I'm still stunned. (Still doesn't beat real life, though.)

nocturnal YL: Aiyoku no Eustia has branched endings, and I've reached two. I'm surprised to see three familiar names in the credits: Ceui (OP vocal in Atelier Lydie & Suelle), Yoshino Nanjo (voice of Kiria in TMS♯FE), Yuu Asakawa (Megurine Luka's voice provider).

nocturnal YL: It'll be quite a while until I'm done with this game. Each individual arc takes at least 6 hours, and there are extra stories. I recall reading somewhere that this game takes 60 hours to finish.

Nester the Lark: Quick update: I'm starting chapter 9 in Ys X. Overall, I've been enjoying the game quite a bit.

nocturnal YL: Ah, almost there!

nocturnal YL: I will go offline for a few days. My family is travelling to South Korea. I should be back around next Friday (22 Nov).

nocturnal YL: I haven't been to Korea for more than two decades, so I look forward to it.

Nester the Lark: Just finished Ys X. I'll write up my thoughts when I get a chance.
Nov 21, 2024 15:49:57 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: Looking back over my previous Ys rankings, it's funny how most of the numbered entries are ranked in descending order: VI > Seven > VIII > IX. So, does Ys X buck the trend?? 🤔
Nov 21, 2024 15:55:24 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Looking forward to your thoughts!
Nov 22, 2024 8:33:42 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I'm back home! It's been a pretty fun trip. Being able to see falling leaves on a mountain path full of trees in person made the trip worth taking.
Nov 22, 2024 8:34:56 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: At the final part of Aiyoku no Eustia. It'll probably still take me a good while as there are some extras to go through. The story is supposed to be dark and dissatisfying; I wonder if I'll dislike it like with the story of Void Terrarium 2?
