It's just over a month away, and this year promises to be the biggest E3 for Nintendo since... well... last year, I guess. There will be Revolution, there will be the new Zelda, and of course there will be Reggie Fils-Aime.
I am not going... again... but I have booked the 17th-19th off work as holiday so I can sit here and revel in Revolution, and make sure the site keeps up with what will no doubt be an amazing year.
So, to kickstart discussion I pose a few questions:
1. Nintendo has a clever tactic - every year it turns up with a lot of new games, maybe new hardware, but tucked away in their pockets is their killer software title (this practice dates back to the unveiling of StarFox on the SNES, and continues up to the new Legend of Zelda shown last year). What do you think Nintendo's killer-app will be this year, what system do you think it will be on, and so on?
2. With that out of the way, let's talk smaller software titles. We can expect a trimming back of Gamecube, and maybe even Game Boy Advance this year... as it often takes a year for a game to go from announcement to release (even GBA titles announced during the middle of last year are only just coming out in Japan). A year from May Nintendo may plan to have the Revolution on the market, if the response to the DS has been anything to go by. So what kind of titles do you think Nintendo will show, both for the new system and for the systems that have been replaced in the market?
3. The big announcement, regardless of software, will be what Nintendo plans for the Revolution. It will change the way we play games, it will change the way developers think about games, it will revolutionize the game market. Whether or not it achieves this depends on what it does. What do you think the Revolution could possibly be?
More lines of discussion will be possible as the show nears, but for now we are left to speculate... so do so! As it draws closer we will examine what is happening, and then over E3 itself I will post significant information here as well.

As for #1, I'm really hoping Nintendo makes a big showing of Mario 128 (don't care what system it's for). I've been waiting over 6 years now and I don't think I can wait any longer.

Killer app? Apart from a deonstration of Zelda '05, Mario 128 might very well be the next big thing from Nintendo. I'm hoping for it to be a Revolution title - launching a new system with Mario at the helm - that's what I want to see.
DS titles? Mario Kart DS seems probable to be shown, and I'm hoping for Super Mario Bros. DS... We may even get to see Animal Crossing DS. And, of course, I hope we get an unveiling of new titles - Zelda DS, more Mario, etc. And wouldn't it be nice to see an on-line enabled SSB game for the DS? Wishful thinking, but I can dream...
There is a slim chance of a new model GBA too - it's being talked about a bit in the realm of rumours - like the SP was an upgrade to the GBA... unlikely, maybe, but who knows?
Revolution? I have no idea... I'd love to see gyroscpe technology, I would love to see fully on-line enabled, I would like to see something totally revolutionary. Will we get that? How should I know?
I'd also like to see new word on the SSB series in general (maybe a Revolution installment), on Pikmin (come on, this series has major potential), and I'd like to see the creation of yet another super franchise - something new and unbelievably cool (slim chance?).
Done.

Time to pull some random stuff out of my backside.
1) Mario 128. With SMBDS connectivety. Or Nintendo's brand new deal to have Namco, SEGA and Capcom all developing exclusively for Nintendo consoles. Or something.
2) GCN - TLOZ, Mario Kart: Gamecube GP (connects to MKAGP), Pokemon XD (possibly, unless it pushed back to the Rev. And is X D going to turn into a smiley? Infact, is that why its called that) DS - SMBDS, TLOZ: Four Swords DS, Metroid Pinball, Kirby, Ice Climbers DS Rev - SM128, SSB3, Pikmin 3, Stage Debut, Pokemon Online, Wave Race 3, Metroid Prime 3 (real brief teaser), Kirby Adventure, Mario Baseball, Mario Party Super Happy Fun Party. And following on from part one: Soul Calibur Ultimate (online), Pacman World whatever number it is, Tekken Ultimate (online), Shadow the Hedgehog, Super Monkey Ball 3, RE5, Viewtiful Joe Revolved.
3) A tennis ball with a sensor inside which controls the games based on how high you throw, spin, etc.
What, too much?

For #2 I actually meant titles that won't be killer apps... perhaps even experimental titles.
Still, I doubt we'll see another GBA upgrade before GB-next is announced. The SP is already the perfect design.
The gyro thing for Rev is a serious possibility, as WarioWare Twisted uses the technology (other tilty games use different technology, which is why they're not as accurate) and that has been a great success for Nintendo. It would also be a double-pun on "Revolution".
Personally I would like to see some more 3D games announced for the DS. F-Zero DSX perhaps?

I wanna see Silicon Knights and Retro both showcasing something awesome, preferable for the Revolution. I think they've had a fair amount of time since their last games to do something. (Maybe not Retro, but they could at least be hinting to something by now).

(1) Killer-app.... Although I hope for a new SSB, it will not be the killer-app for the coming E3 - or not even exist.
Super Mario 128 may show up, or maybe another Luigi game.... without Mario, if there can be one.
(2) Smaller titles? I just hope Nintendo to announce the actual release dates of coming games! Especially for Touched! Kirby and Band Brothes outside Japan.
Aside release date, I want to see NEW Super Mario Bros, another Zelda or even a new Metroid (not Hunters) or Fire Emblem game!
(3) Possibly Revolution may have a really special controller, or something alike that, to play games differently. I don't think there ll be any touch pad or mic, though.
What I am hoping for is total compatability with the Gamecube, and the use of the SD card save adapter will spread outside Japan. I hope I can use SD card to save games, and store it onto my computer for backup.

On a related note, SK has teamed up with Sega for their next game, so we may still get to see something from them on the current or next-gen Nintendo system.

Fran... honestly... you are being either very stupid or you're not bothering to read anything else. I asked what technological advances do you think the Revolution will incorporate, and you ask the most stupid question possible... what will Nintendo's next-gen console be...
The answer is "Revolution"... Nintendo has announced it... we have been discussing it on the forums here for MONTHS... YOU have mentioned it before, I'm sure. It will be shown in just over a month.
So why ask a stupid question? If what you meant was "What do you think Nintendo's next-gen console will be?" in terms of what will it consist of in terms of hardware and ability, then I think you'll find I asked that question in the FIRST post here. If that's not what you meant at all, then maybe you had better start learning how to write a question that carries the meaning you intend, because... frankly... you suck at it.
You have annoyed me three times in one forum visit... twice you double-posted (not by accident I may add... both posts in both instances contained subtle differences in text as if you'd actually written them down twice) and here by asking a question that you already know the answer to... and that you will have read a million times before (and if you haven't read it, then why are you here? Surely not because you love reading your own posts).
I said I would give you a chance after last time, and I have. You have just thrown it back in my face by being even more annoying than before. You want to be banned, right? No? Then stop acting like you do and grow up.
