It's not the areas from the Rare Era so much as the Rare Era itself. While I've never been fond of the DK franchise, I'd consider DKC/DK64/DKL to be my least favorite part of it.

Those guys are wizzleing LUNATICS. XD Soon enough they'll all be screaming "JIHAD! JIHAD!" whenever a non-Rare DK thing pops up for Brawl.

I have to give Nintendo credit, because they've really been trying new things with Donkey Kong in order to break free of the "generic, substandard platformer" genre Rare put on the franchise. I think every DK game following DK64 has broken the mold somehow; even though Donkey Konga was essentially Nintendo versions of DDR and Taiko Drum Master, they were different from the norm, and DK Bongo Blast is pretty fun. Monkeys punching monkeys ftw!

What the hell is wrong with those people? Jungle Beat is one of the best things to happen to the Donkey Kong series in years! OH, but it's not rare. I see that site as being more of a Rare fan site then a Donkey Kong site. Nintendo does deserve props for their ambisions, but some of the newer DK games seems to be a bit bad. Maybe it's just me. |

Hahaha, DK Jungle Vine are like a cult to Rare. It's sad really! Still, no point crying over people who are too stupid to recognise a decent game when they see one.

I liked the old DK games, but Rare has really lost it. They really haven't made anything great in a while.

DKC was great at the time. It hasn't aged all that well, but you have to admit when it was released it was big news, and definitely better than nearly all other 2D platformers at the time (ignoring the big Nintendo ones of course).
In my eyes, the series went downhill from there. The DKL series was particularly bad. DKC2, while being most peoples' favourite, is fairly low in my opinions. DKC3 was one of my favourite SNES games though! I think I just liked the music in the first level ;D

Yeah really. Besides, you can't get a general idea of the opinions pf everyone who posts there simply by reading Bob O. Friend's Bitching About Brawl Column. Maybe if you guys took an extensive look around their forums, you'd understand where they come from with their so-called "lunacy".
