Saying you don't want to play as characters you don't know is an opinion, not a sufficient argument against Japan-only characters and characters you don't know very well.
I didn't know who Mr. Game & Watch, Ice Climbers, Marth, Roy, Captain Falcon, and Ness were before the Smash Bros. series, does that mean they shouldn't be playable?

Takamaru is the only one I really care about appearing. He's just the perfect choice.
It'd be cool to see some more Japan-only assists, though.

Why is it so many people don't want characters they've never heard of? What exactly is less fun about new characters? If you want to see more Mario characters, why don't you go play a MARIO game? Obscure characters give us something new. Well, here's the Japan-Only characters I want to see the most: Takamaru-He's awesome samurai character. Lip-If her wand works like it does in SSBM, she'd be really unique due to her attacks cause damage over time. Not to mention it'd be hilarous to sprout flowers on peoples head for the entire battle. She's also another female and a character who started on the SNES. Hakkun-Another SNES character. I don't really know what he could do, but he's just so darn cute! Maybe he could inject paint in characters. Make them slower, weaker or ligher for a little bit. That'd be sorta cool. Stafy-I know there's no hope for this one, but it would have been awesome.  |

Takamaru and Sukapon for me. If they end up as ATs, hey atleast it's better then regular trophies catching dust in the virtual vault. Also Lip as an AT would be pretty rad.
Derailing or not, Brawl wouldn't be perfect without Mr.Stevenson or Mike Jones trophies to have the Japanese go 'wtf' over. Fat chance though
