Oh, and it's announced for PS4 and Switch. What's happened to Vita? Kind of surprised to see this, since Lydie & Suelle sold slightly better on PS Vita than on Switch. Sounds like Switch sales may have been better than you thought, at least in the West.

Saw this earlier today, and I was rather surprised.
I guess it may have todo with how differentregions see different systems differently. Western fans see the Switch's newfound third party support a good opportunity to discover new games, while in Japan, everyone has a PS4 anyway. There's also the fact that these third party games are often multiplatform sequels to PS4/Vita games.

Yusuke Hashimoto, producer of Bayonetta, director of Bayonetta 2, and technical director of Star Fox Zero and Star Fox Guard, has left Platinum Games.
Personally, I preferred his take on Bayonetta over Hideki Kamiya's.

WayForward announced the fifth Shantae game today.
I'm a little surprised at the announcement. Last I heard, director Matt Bozon wanted to take a break from the series after working on Half-Genie Hero for so many years. Also, how can they make a new one so quickly?
Still, I'm looking forward to seeing more about it, even tho I never bought any of the DLC for the last game.

The next six Sega Ages games have been announced: Shinobi, Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Fantasy Zone, Puzzle & Action: Inchidant-R, Harzog Zwei, and G-LOC Air Battle. ( Source) Yay for Shinobi and Wonder Boy! I looking forward to seeing if they include extra modes and such. Also glad to see Herzog Zwei; it's nice that Sega is continuing to put Technosoft's games out there.

Please don't be an April Fools joke...
Granzella was founded by former Irem staff, including the producer of R-Type Delta and Final, and the website makes mention of a crowdfunding campaign, so hopefully it's real.
I want it to be real. And on Switch. (EDIT: Confirmed real, and only for PS4 at this point.)

Starlink: Crimson Moon update (free), and the Switch exclusive Starfox content update as in the playable Peppy, Falco and Slippy vs the rest of team Star Wolf content (costs money).
It should also be mentioned that Starlink failed to meet sales expectation for Ubisoft, leading to no more plans for any new physical content/toys, any new pilots/etc are digital only.

Wonder Boy Returns is coming to Switch in a "Remix" version. I love the original Wonder Boy, but I haven't heard too many good things about Wonder Boy Returns. I suppose it's encouraging that Ryuichi Nishizawa seems to have been a little more involved with the Remix, so maybe they've ironed out the wrinkles, but this may be a "wait for reviews and/or a sale" situation for me.

So, the Sega Ages version of Wonder Boy in Monster Land is "coming soon," and will apparently include a "joystick rattle button" option.
If you don't know, you can make money appear in the game by jumping in certain places, but there was a bug in the arcade version where if you jostled the joystick back and forth while doing so, it would give you a lot more money. Players typically abuse this to make it a little easier to get through the game, although it's difficult to do with a d-pad or thumb stick. So now, hilariously, M2 is just adding a button to do it for you! (It can be disabled, though.)

So, the Kickstarter campaign for R-Type Final 2 is coming next week, and the platforms include PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Steam. According to the announcement page, the campaign will only last for "about a week," which seems a little odd. Most Kickstarter campaigns last for a month.

The Kickstarter for R-Type Final 2 is now live, and does, in fact, only last a week. Seems ambitious, but as I type this, they're already nearly halfway to their initial goal, so I guess it's working out. Stretch goals are listed all the way up to US$2.5 million, so let's see how far they get.

This looks good. Now they're 80% there. They really should have made the campaign last longer, though.
If this does actually get made, maybe I'll consider it. I haven't played any new sidescrolling shooter for a long while.

Interesting! Hmm.. reminds me of how Nintendo/Game Freak did not patch the Virtual Console Pokémon glitches (excluding exclusive VC ones) even though they can lead to illegally generated Pokémon that can be transferred to Bank if they are the right level and have no invalid moves.
Now, Google referenced Pac-Man's Level 256 glitch in a Google Doodle and people say Nintendo referenced the minus world in Super Paper Mario, and the infinite 1-Up trick has been mentioned I believe; as is the "fight safari zone Pokémon trick"; a variation of the left-facing shore tile glitch in EN, FR, (and partially: ES, IT) versions. Glitch acknowledgement as "tricks" could spin-off to be a topic of its own. ✿

The R-Type Final 2 Kickstarter has just ended with over 8,000 backers and over $900,000 raised. This means that they've reached the stretch goals for recreating one stage each from R-Type Final, R-Type Delta, and R-Type III. I never contributed myself, and if I did, it would've only been my usual $5. Don't think it needed my help, tho. I'll just get a copy whenever the game comes out (I'm guessing in 2021 or 2022).
