Very well said rant over yonder, I must say, TEi. Wasn't that such a harsh lie with the artwork of Zelda with a sword in TP before the game came out? If she can do all that in Smash, why not actual Zelda games? Damn it. But then again, characters like Peach, Daisy, etc. may have to be more useful someday too. As opposed to being simple trophies in the main games (figuratively speaking) and literally lifeless spin-off avatars. That reminds me--...nevermind.

Actually Zelda has proved herself in many games. In Ocarina of Time she transformed into Sheik and assisted Link throughout the game.
In WW and Twilight Princess she used the light arrows to stun Ganondorf for you to hit him.
Also Zelda has a great impact on the story in many ways, through her decissions alone does much of the plot take place (like Zelda telling young Link to get the three gems, or Zelda giving up Hyrule to Zant)
These aren't anything huge. But they are WAY better than Peach's role! I would LOVE for Peach to do what Zelda has done. Prove that she is more than a prize to be won. That she is of importance.

As long as Miyamoto is involved Princesses will always be damsels. Ha ha!
Nice read and I agree that- hm?... Hey! Does everyone hate Super Paper Mario's story except for me?

I can't deny it would certainly be nice, but Dancey has a track record of never being wrong ever due to being Just That Awesome, so I think I'll throw my lot in with him.

I'd like to see where this new Zelda is headed. It certainly sounds like they're planning to make some changes to the ol' Zelda formula, which I think would be fresh and well-received. I don't know if Iwata's promise will come true or not, though. It could mean something else entirely. Perhaps Link's Awakening will pop up on the DSi (that's something I just made up, so don't get excited ).

Perhaps Link's Awakening will pop up on the DSi (that's something I just made up, so don't get excited ). That would require Nintendo to put actual games on the DSi, rather than Animal Crossing- or Mario-themed clock, calendar and notepad apps. It'd be awesome if they did, but my sources say no.

Hopefully Zelda will go down fighting. You know she's gonna get kidnapped, can we PLEASE see her kidnapping as more like an arrest? I'm getting sick of it. She ought to have killed somebody during her manifold captures. It'd be a great part of the game to play: Link and Zelda are kicking hardcore ass together until she's kidnapped, at which point it becomes an escape scene. If not, I dunno. All I can say is that the Gossip Stone is just looking more and more wrong as the games go on.

What is with all the pleading for Zelda to be badass, like fixing that would suddenly make the series no longer a stale lump of sameness? It won't. Or in other words...
The Legend of Zelda series has 99 problems, but its bitch aint one.

What is with all the pleading for Zelda to be badass, like fixing that would suddenly make the series no longer a stale lump of sameness? It's not about gameplay mechanics sorta (co-op zelda would be neat) so much as a desire for Nintendo to get beyond gender stereotypes. I mean, they've done it with Samus, you know? Nothing stopping them from doing it to Zelda other than the fact that She's a Princess and has a Vagina Therefore She Can Never Be Anything but a Deus Ex Machina.
