If you're looking up a game on NinDB, what do you want to see on a gamepage? NinDB has made a name for itself with its cameos, but we have also done things such as discover the source of "the Mario Paint song".
Well, there's plenty more mysteries (and other cool stuff) out there in Nintendo land, from pre-release changes, international alterations, and just plain weird stuff. Oh, and then there's all those cool little messages from the developers to the player.
Some website do a massive comparison of every little change between the Japanese and American versions of the game. I'm not that bothered about doing that right now, but there are many cool mysteries.
Here's some examples:
1. The mystery book in Super Mario Sunshine. 2. The glass bottles on top of the vent in Goldeneye. 3. The mine-throwing penguin in Wario Land 2 that gives us "Dizzy Wario" throws beer in the Japanese version. 4. The Banjo-Kazooie Stop 'n' Swap thing.
They're not cameos... they're not codes or cheats, but they are very cool nonetheless. And that's key... It has to be interesting!
So, I'd like to start amassing as many of these as I can, ready to go on the site when the cameos are all done, and I need your help! Either link through to older posts where these were first shown or post them afresh here (citing any sources).

Do you cover Perfect Dark? If so, the cheese! One of the weirdest things in a game I've ever played.

I think the hidden items would be cameos, albeit nixed ones.
Also, never knew about the save room. That's cool!

Doesn't the gem on the Starmie trophy in Melee have Misty's face reflected in it, too? I've never actually looked, but I remember reading that somewhere.

Glass bottles on the vent in Goldeneye? That's new to me (especially since I've been replaying it lately). Man, there's a ton of these kinds of things. It'll be neat to see a collected list of them. There's the special room in Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES) for a Nintendo Power contest, for one. All those secret messages in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Nintendo staffers. I'll rack my brain and see if I can remember any more.

Aha, all good ones, and I can confirm them all! (Although I always thought it was the Metroid containment room from the beginning of Super Metroid rather than a save room).
Expect several "cameos" to be shuffled into this "mystery" category when it arrives, including Kazumi Totaka's Song. Also stuff like the Gamecube controller-shaped courtyard in Sunshine, which was featured as a cameo before the relaunch.

I actually haven't checked it in a long time, but I have heard from another source it was the containment room. I'll check again.

3. The mine-throwing penguin in Wario Land 2 that gives us "Dizzy Wario" throws beer in the Japanese version. Also, the censorship of alcohol drinking during the award ceremony in Western versions of Super Mario Kart ( source).

All those secret messages in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption from Nintendo staffers. Here's the english translations of those messages. While on the subject of Metroid Prime, did you know that MPT has actually removed certain visual effects from the updated Metroid Prime. Here's a few examples, might be more. - Ripples in water removed when Samus shoots at water - Waves removed when Samus moves a a morph ball in water - Arm cannon getting covered in ice when charging it up. - I'm also heard Samus's idle animation (pressing some buttons on her arm cannon) has been removed Here's a comparison video. Original MP shown first and then MPT's version of MP around the 3 minute mark (Samus is wearing the Fusion Suit in that section). Also the word "damn" was removed from MP3:C in MPT. N one knows why Nintendo bothered removing one word.

Da Robot - There's more to that story. Start digging into the comments of this link to see why. Seems most of those effects were EU only as it was. It is a touch disappointing, but hey, the games are still solid. Fry, a quick question. Since you're throwing in stuff like this now, would third party Nintendo references or cameos be on the site? There's a ton of those lurking about.

Yes. Hundreds of Mario cameos in third party games, and many others abound as well. So no, I will not be adding them. NinDB is about Nintendo games.
However, in some cases a third party game may contain licensed cameos, such as Soul Calibur 2 on Gamecube, Fight Night Round 2 on Gamecube, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and others. These will eventually be compiled and added to a feature of sorts. But the games will not be given their own pages.

Licensed cameos was more of what I meant. God, unlicensed cameos would be a site upon itself. XD

What about the many beta cameos like the Lakitu in the Super Mario World overworld or the unused items from Goldeneye in perfect dark and stuff like that?
