A Kappa's Trail
Mother 3 Title Screen Characters
On the title screen, swim over to the flashing fish and the kappa will eat them. If you eat enough his stomach will start to buldge. Swim around a while and eat a red fish. Do this and new fish and plant life will appear on the title screen, and what appears depends on how bulgy the kappa's stomach is.
You can see various things from Mother 3, including a Pigmask with some red seaweed on top, Ocho the Octopus and the Oxygen Machines.

Pinkie Rabbit Land Game & Watch
Throughout the game are references to an LCD game based on the in-game "Pinkie Rabbit" franchise (mentioned throughout the Another Code and Kyle Hyde games).
- A TV advertisement in Kyle's room that shows an LCD game titled "Pinkie Rabbit Land" resembling the Game & Watch.
- You can collect and play the game by getting the bottle cap that proves you won from the vending machine. You control Pinkie Rabbit who has to climb ropes in order to collect carrots that hang from flying balloons at the top of the screen and take them back to the bottom. Pinkie Rabbit has to avoid things the ninjas throw from the left and right side of the screen. The game is over when Pinkie is hit three times. Besides baseballs and shuriken, the ninjas throw hammers and pliers, possibly referencing Helmet. The ropes remind me of Donkey Kong II, while the balloons could be a reference to Balloon Fight.
- In the sealed file of the novel's fifth chapter, it states that Kyle won a "handheld gaming device from Japan released in 1980." Apparently, it refers to a another handheld game rather than Pinke Rabbit Land, which Kyle got later according to the text. It is also stated that Kyle used the game (whatever game is meant) for a long while as a watch.

Mode Themes
Each of the game modes has a theme based on a NES game:
- Standard: Changes depending on the level (see Marathon Mode Cameos below).
- Catch: Metroid themed mode. The background is a vertical tunnel from Metroid, and if you hit a Metroid canister with the Tetrimino core, then it will destroy your blocks. You also have a Metroid-style energy meter that depletes as you drop blocks.
- Mission: The Legend of Zelda themed mode. The background of the touch screen is a forest, and the top screen is the waterfall from the Zelda title screen. Missions appear on a scroll on the top screen, and you have to clear them before the heart meter depletes on the touch screen.
- Puzzle: Yoshi's Cookie themed mode. On the top screen is a static puzzle that needs completing, set inside Mario and Yoshi's cookie machine. The blocks appear on the touch screen, with a colourful background based on official artwork from the original game.
- Touch: Balloon Fight themed mode. The background has Balloon Fighters flying around the night sky. Your aim is to drag the caged balloons to the ground.
- Push: Donkey Kong themed mode. The background is Stage 1 from the game.

- When they've finished playing, 9-Volt will be jamming on his decks while all of his Nintendo consoles dance in the foreground (all except the Virtual Boy). In the background is a poster with Diskun on it.
- 9-Volt's turntables have mini Mario and Luigi models on them. Lose a microgame and they fall over.

Mr. Game & Watch Cameos
Because he's not really a Game & Watch character, it's hard to treat Mr. Game & Watch as a cameo. But he makes several appearances throughout this game anyway.

- In the background of the second Toy Room is a picture of Mr. Game & Watch.
- In Wario's Microgame, "Big Bang", you are watched by a bunch of Mr. Game & Watches
- In Warioman's microgame, "Admiral Blowhard" it looks like the boat driver is Mr. Game & Watch.
