Damn you, NoA localisation team! Stop putting Engrish lines from NES games into your new games! There's too many of them!

More Glory of Heracles references. They both involve some story spoilers, so yeah.
So, at a certain point in the game you'll find that [the town of Heaven's Haven has been destroyed]. If you talk to the Item Shopkeeper after this part of the game, she'll say, "Buy something and support my rebuilding plans, will ya?"
Also, at a later point in the game your party will [ try and make their way onto the Trantian's giant wooden horse heading for Troy. In order to sneak on Princess Piazza makes up a lie to get them on]. She says, "I am Princess Piazza, representative of Trantia’s ally nation of, er, Archanea." The Trantia soldier replies, "Archanea, huh? Never heard of it."

Two Kid Icarus references in one? Nice.
But is the former really a ref? Could have just been "Buy Something Will Ya?"

Eh, it's probably not. When I first saw that I was under the impression that this was one of Treehouse's "Let's try and fit in as many references as we can" game*. But playing through the game some more now, there really aren't as many references as Nintendo Power led me to belief. So, yeah. ...Wait, what's the second Kid Icarus reference? *Edit: Yeah, so just a few hours after I say that I found out that Nintendo outsourced this game to another localization team. I'm going to stop assuming stuff now.

I'm surprised no one else has brought this one up. The hero of Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver has a Wii in his/her bedroom.

OK, so we know that Beatnes in Electroplankton plays the Super Mario Bros. invincibility theme and has a load of sound effects from Super Mario Bros. What I have only just found out is that you can press the SELECT Button to get a whole different colour of Beatnes that features music and sound effects from other NES games: AllStarting noise: Disk load (FDS) Blue/Red: Super Mario Bros. Background music: Invincible Top Row: Coin - Jump - 1UP - Grow - Shrink/Pipe Middle Row: 8-bit beeps Bottom Row: Shell Kick - Skid - Fireball - Swim - Die Black/Red: Kid Icarus(This uses Famicom Disk System SFX, which used the extra sound chip, so I'm not clear on all of these just yet) Background music: I guess it's based a little on the Underworld theme... but it's more just a beat. Top Row: Item - Hit Enemy - - - Death Middle Row: 8-bit "whistle" Bottom Row: Life - Shoot - - - Red/Orange: Donkey Kong / Duck Hunt / Balloon Fight / Wrecking Crew / Each of the 5 Beatnes seems to represent the SFX of a different 8-bit game. Background music: Donkey Kong 25M Top Row: Die - Dog Bark - Balloon - Break Wall - Middle Row: Various 8-bit effects Bottom Row: Barrel Smash - Dog Laugh - - - Blue: DO THE R.O.B.!!This is the most awesome discovery evars! Background music: Gyromite Game A Top Row: "Left" - Pause - "Up" - Door Open - "Right" Middle Row: Various 8-bit sounds Bottom Row: "Open" - Instruct - "Down" - Door Close - "Close"

Oh, this is new to me, but I can help with the red/orange screen. Well, Beatnes #1 doesn't sound like Donkey Kong, and not even like just 1 game. The "die" sound is clearly Donkey Kong Jr.'s And the one you call "Barrel Smash" is the Freezie smash sound in Mario Bros. Beatnes #3 bottom sound is the "enemy landing" sound in Balloon Fight. For Beatnes #4... Assuming it's themed after Wrecking Crew, I think the bottom sound is the "hard wall" sound (before being completely destroyed, an event that also uses the top sound). Beatnes #5, I have no clue yet. It sounds like Metroid, which I guess is possible since Kid Icarus is in the game.

It was a huge surprise! This is a well known cameo with a whole pile of hidden cameos just underneath it... I only found it by accident (I was using an emulator and hammering buttons to see if I'd mapped a microphone sound to any of them)... I'm going to have to play through Kid Icarus FDS at some point anyway, so I'll try and get the sound effects down. I definitely recognise the sounds for Beatnes #5, but I found this at 12.30 in the morning, and my bed beckoned

That's notable because Egg has A: Never been released outside of America, and B: Not in any Gallery games. So, kudos!

I'm 100% sure that Egg is in G&W Gallery 3, along with a remake starring Yoshi. And Egg isn't the only G&W game originally not released in Japan that made it into the Galleries.

I don't remember posting this, but I might have. In Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon, there is a hidden piece of music that plays in the arena. If you wait for ten seconds in the arena lobby, Follow Me! from The Sacred Stones plays. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtEFhh6Pc8s

And I remember it now that I think of it- it was the Yoshi's Cookie inspired game. 3 is a blind spot of mine...
