I remember Fry saying he had other forums before this one. Were you a member of the previous forum?

Sega has released a short video celebrating their anniversary.
EDIT: Also, just noticed that Sega is today's featured article on Wikipedia.

I remember Fry saying he had other forums before this one. Were you a member of the previous forum? Before I joined the forum, I had email correspondence with Fry, mostly pointing out errors on the site. I do remember Fry mentioning moving the forum and asked members to re-register. I don't recall whether I was still a lurker or did I actually join, but it seems to me that the latter was the case. Sega has released a short video celebrating their anniversary. Their Twitter account and updated message page have gathered a lot of messages from fans and other companies. The Sega Shiro site has also updated with the final movie and an interview with CEO Haruki Satomi. Glad to see the company's humour is still there.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the NES' launch in North America (according to Nintendo, although the actual date is up for debate).
Check out this Twitter thread by the Video Game History Foundation for more info:

February 21 is officially the 35th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series.
Obviously a series that I'm quite fond of.

March 3 marks the fourth anniversary of the Nintendo Switch, as well as Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and any other games released on this day.
So, if Nintendo is serious when it says that Switch is in the middle of its lifespan, then it's got another four years to go. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that they won't release new hardware before then.

1-2-Switch and Super Bomberman R were also released on the same day. As were Snipperclips, VOEZ (JP ver), the Switch remake of Soldam (JP ver), and most importantly, Vroom in the Night Sky (JP ver).
Nintendo is confident enough in the Switch's longevity that they announced Splatoon 3, a 2022 online game that directly competes with its predecessor on the same system.
8 years may sound like a long time, but the Famicom and Super Famicom got games after 10 years. Granted, Wario's Woods and Picross NP Vol. 8 aren't exactly big releases…
In terms of rival systems, PS4 was released in late 2013 and PS5 in late 2020. So do the Xbox equivalents, but modern Xbox doesn't have a strong concept of console generations. At any rate, a 7- or 8-year console generation is certainly reasonable.

It's the 40th anniversary of the original Donkey Kong!
Steve Mayles drew some fan art for the occasion, although it's based on Donkey Kong Country because that's what he worked on.
