Actually, it doesn't look like any of the improvements added in Colors are present. The boost is still ring-powered and Sonic can't double jump. From what I understand though, the QTEs are optional now if not gone outright. Really? They look pretty floaty to me. And I see that you can't roll, near the beginning of the video the guy does a spin dash without stopping. Its been mentioned that you can do the Spin Dash either by crouching and pressing the jump button or by pressing the action button, Sonic Adventure style. Not sure how that means you can't roll. And I feel to see how it looks "floaty".

Sonic rises and falls slower and moves further horizontally while jumping than he did in the Mega Drive games. That's what I mean by floaty. It's the same way he handled in Sonic 4, and I hated it.
So, you can just Spin Dash while running now? That's even worse than not being able to roll. It means that the roll is now obsolete anyway. Why bother building momentum when you can just Spin Dash your way to victory!

His rising and falling didn't look slow at all to me, and I thought the far jumping was only there because the level in general is spread further apart. Looks like an improvement on Sonic 4 to me. Be glad he doesn't uncurl on ramps or have the homing attack.

The homing attack was never a problem for me, but yeah, the uncurling thing was ridiculous. XD
If they have bothered to include rolling at all, hopefully it'll actually do what it's supposed to this time. But I suspect they've put in this Spin Dash while running thing as an excuse to not bother with the roll physics.

So far this is being beta to me, but I really do love what's been concocted and put up with the gameplay trailer. The backgrounds are detailed and huge, much like those in Colors. Wow. It kinda reminded me of that moment when I saw Mushroomy Kingdom in Brawl for the first time. The details were frightfully real and tingling, as this was meant to be a remain of that stage played back in SMB. The evolution of consoles can give much more depth to the oldie times. Sonic 4 felt little too much to the originals when coming to the scenery, but this game at least gives much more depth of how it is like.
Besides... the retro-version of Green Hill Zone--- it sounds so updated. (-^^-) Sonic again speeding his old stages looks thrilling as well. Taking the elements from the oldies and using em again (like that piranha, expect made now huge in one scene...) just wish there's more stages to be remade and be played.
Not gonna complain about the physics and stuff, the gameplay always changes, but at least it keeps it's core very same. I first couldn't play SA well due the very momentum-based controls, but after clearing Colors I found SA much easier to control.

Here's a new trailer, featuring modern Sonic and original recipe running through a remake of the City Escape level from Sonic Adventure 2.

That music in the background? That's My Chemical Romance's "Na Na Na Na (Na Na Na)". Yeah, an American screamo band in Sonic.

I don't even think the fans remember Ray the Squirrel, man. =P

Well, not unless they played the ROM, or stumbled across him on Wikipedia or... Wait, these are the fans that scrutinize the clef between classic Sonic's eyes. I'm sure they'd remember a whole character.

I'm pretty sure Ray is still in the comics, so he's definitely remembered. And I actually have legitimately played the game he's from. It was at SegaWorld London for many years. All in Japanese, but still playable. EDIT: According to somebody who was at the behind-doors preview, there are also posters with Mighty and Ray on them. Also, did anybody else spot the Chao in Space 2 poster? The tagline is "Perfect Chaos is back with a vengeance!" but I can't make out the subtitle. The shops in the background are named after characters, too. I spotted Amy's Market and Tails' Pizza.

I'm willing to bet that My Chemical Romance song is just filler content. I'd be kind of bummed if they didn't at least do a cover of Escape from the City. (I'll always prefer the original as Sonic Team has a bad track record with remixing its own music, but anything is better than MCR. Even the SA2 remixes of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles' themes from SA1.)

The people at the behind-doors thing confirmed two remixes of Escape From The City. The modern version is pretty much the same as SA2's, but longer with new lyrics added, and the classic version is... a classic version.
