Also more dumbasses in the Nintendo chat, wanting SSB for 3DS. I wish there was an option to turn off the chat. I ended up having to open a new window to hide all the "Castlevania? GAY! It's NINTENDO 3DS! LOL" and "ZELDA! SSB! WE NEED MORE ZELDA!" Also, /v/ was the same. Complaining that there was no new Zelda and how everything shown looks like shit. Was Skyward Sword not enough? Can fans NEVER be pleased? Sure, it's a dry season, but there are plenty of older games to pick up. Gamers are stupid. Well, nothing new here, Am I a bad costumer for not caring for the third party oferings on Nintendo Systems, Yes, because Castlevania looked amazing. The return of Trevor and Alucard? A new 2.5D Metroidvania style? Gimme gimme.

Good news: Fire Emblem is said to be heading to US: I'm not going to applaud Nintendo (of America) for this lack of confirmation till now but I'm going to applaud for the fucking game journalists who had the guts to ask them that. (Unlike last year, cough cough, Xenoblade, TLS, cough cough). Why can't we get more game journalists who can actually ask good questions about games like this.

I understand how this game gets treated hugely differently between regions (cultural difference is one thing, but "Reggie doesn't care" is probably a reason as well), but no mention in E3 until asked? My....

I'm not going to whine or applaud anyway. Instead, I'm going to buy the game, enjoy it, and move on... Crap! That reminds me that I still haven't beaten The Sacred Stones on Hard yet... I was checking out AC3 and ZombiU and both seemed interesting. I love it how ZombiU harkens back to the old Zombie Horror genre, though one (evil) difficulty level is a bit harsh. Sometimes I just want to plug in a game I'm in the mood for and have an easy, stressless, fun time. But whatever, I'll just play Left 4 Dead with cheats if I can't do that on ZombiU. Am I a bad costumer for not caring for the third party oferings on Nintendo Systems, Well, if anything serves, you should try to expand your horizons. Care only about the 1st parties, and you'll be missing out on a lot of fun in other games. Rayman Legends, for example, seems... well, legendary *badum tss*

But all the software they were promoting seems to be coming out this year . . . so maybe that's the reason why? I noticed this earlier... Everything they're showing is coming out in time for Christmas this year. There will definitely be other things in the works, unless they're shutting down all studios in 2013... but they're not showing us them. And maybe there's a good reason for that! If they're wanting to move consoles for Christmas they're better off hyping up the things that're going to be available at Christmas. It's not the best business sense to overshadow your upcoming releases with things you won't have ready for another year. Maybe they'll be more willing to show next year's games at TGS.

I cannot believe I missed out on many good games on Genesis, TurboGrafx 16, and SNES. It is okay to be a Nintendo fanboy and enjoy non-Nintendo games.

You have to wonder, if their strategy was to only show the software coming out this year, and they had already shown everything except Pikmin 3 and Nintendo Land, why on Earth would you hold two over-an-hour-long shows, a Nintendo Direct and a developer roundtable?
Last night's 3DS conference was particularly annoying as I was expecting something to be announced that hadn't been shown in the 10 minute slot or uploaded to the Nintendo E3 page already. Otherwise why hold it at all?
No, instead we got more overlong demos of games that could have been easily compressed and put into the main show. The Nintendo Direct stuff was mostly covered again in the main show too. Cut the length of time showing people talking through game mechanics and everything Nintendo wanted to show could have been squeezed into their first hour long press event.
Nintendo needed to clarify that this is the software lineup for this year, and further events will be held for 2013 releases. Look at all these games! This year! Two Mario platformers, a Mario RPG, Luigi's Mansion 2, Pikmin 3, Nintendo Land (which will of course be packed in!), and all these third party ports! And those Ubi Soft titles you were looking forward to! That's a lot of games, right? That would have been a better approach that smearing their games out over multiple events.
And of course end on the big reveal (Pikmin 3), not on Wii Play: Nintendo Theme Park.
Yes, there would be people who would bitch about there being no Animal Crossing or no Fire Emblem (two more games that have already been announced - which is not why I watch E3 like a hawk). But that would surely be better than baffling, boring and disappointing all the journalists and viewers. That's not how to prepare for a console launch, surely?
This E3 has been a bit of a wet splotch for everyone involved. Sure, some of the games look fun, but they've failed to whip up any enthusiasm and completely killed any that people already brought with them.
My body was ready... but my mind wasn't blown.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking the big failure was last year rather than this year. If we didn't already know about all these games we'd be in a frenzy right now, frothing at the mouths. So many games! All coming this year!
Last year Nintendo were desperate to assure people that 3DS games were coming. They were showing us stuff so early in development that it barely looks related to what we're seeing this year (Paper Mario in particular). But now, because we already saw three screens of an early version of it last year, it's old news now even though it won't be released for months. Now that the 3DS games are actually coming, nobody cares about them any more. The hype dies after Christmas. Hopefully this is them breaking that pattern, and next year they'll show us some awesome new games that are coming that year.

Last night's E3 conference about the 3DS was nice, and we got some insight on a few upcoming 3DS games, (Including Castlevania, Paper Mario, NewSMB2, and such) but I was a li'l disapointed that they didn't really announce anything that hasn't been already announced prior to last night.
"New SMB 2" for 3DS looks cool, (the return of the "ears & tail-only" raccoon suit made me smile, and the new focus on coin-collecting and scoring coins sounds like unique "gimmick" or gameplay style, and ought to give it some more replay value) but I feel I have to criticize Nintendo on one thing...
They showed it has a multiplayer option like NewSMBWii does (only limited to 2 people instead) and here we have 2 players with their own separate screens, so both players can have their own view of the level, and action even when they get separated right? ...WRONG! For some reason they decided to go with the "screen scrolls with the player who is in the lead" single-screen style of gameplay like NewSMBWii did. (So basically both player's screens show the exact same thing instead of their own individual screens like MOST multiplayer portable games do.)
Now... That works fine for a TV game, considering you only get one screen, (and the screen is bigger) but why do that for a portable game? It might also make some things awkward like when a player flies away with the raccoon power-up, and leaves the other behind to be trapped in a bubble temporarily, and such. (On the plus side, that does offer opportunities to be a jerk, and make your friends mad. "Oh no, I'm not going to release you from the bubble yet! Not until I get these items/coins! Mwahaha!!!") But eh... It just seems like an odd choice to make.
I don't know, one thing Nintendo seems to be being getting kinda lazy on lately is multiplayer. "Star Fox 64 3D" didn't have online-play, (granted the Computer-player option kinda made up for it a li'l) and they didn't bother to impliment the multiplayer feature in ANY of Gameboy Virtual Console games on 3DS. (Face it, Gameboy Tetris just isn't the same without 2-player mode.)
Now I'm not completely bashing them, (I still love Nintendo) I'm just saying Nintendo is being a bit lazy on a few things.

Fire Emblem Awakening deserved better than a tweet announcement. Hell, that was a swing vote for me to get a 3DS. XD Ah well, at least it's coming.

Don't know where else to put this: The Koopalings are back in NSMB2, apparently.

I just can't get behind NSMB2 at all for some reason. Nothing about it appeals to me. But at the same time I'm excited about NSMBU. I can't put my finger on why that is.
