Started an impromptu second playthrough, but not really with the intent of finishing it. As I mentioned above, I picked Black Eagles, Normal/Classic, and Female Byleth.
Two things occurred to me:
1. I already miss my Golden Deer kids.
2. Other FE games I've played made it feel like I was on a journey, with each battle being another stop along the way. But with Three Houses having a hub that you always return to, it never really feels like I'm going anywhere. I kinda miss the feeling of the journey.

R-Type Final 2 has reached the $1 million stretch goal, so it will now get a re-creation of one of the stages from R-Type Leo.
Also, they released a video showing the launch sequence for the Blue Symphonies ship. This is strange, not just because it came in last in the poll, but because they also note that it doesn't mean the ship will actually make it into the game.

So, last August, Ryuichi Nishizawa, the creator of the Wonder Boy/Monster World series, was at Devcom as part of a panel on Monster Boy. There's an article about it on Game Watch, and at the end, it says this: Which Bing translates as: So, it sounds like Nishizawa is planning to do a new Monster World game himself. Obviously, there doesn't seem to have been any news on it since then, though.

Managed to beat the original R-Type!
(Wasn't expecting it to get so many Likes and Retweets on Twitter.)
It was not a 1CC, but it was a start-to-finish run, which was my goal. It was actually not my first time beating the final boss, either. I managed to do it two other times: once in infinite mode, which lets you use slow motion, and then again in classic mode, but starting from stage 8 for practice.
I might do R-Type II next, but it's actually even harder than the first game.

I guess I have very individual tastes. If I play again, I was thinking of maybe doing Black Eagles/Edelgard route. I'd probably keep the difficulty on Normal/Classic. Also, I'd probably play as female Byleth just to mix things up. Don't know about S-Rank. In Golden Deer, I would have picked Ignatz. Every chance I got, I told him to go ahead and paint his little heart out.

Also, forgot to mention I was playing some of the Wonder Boy/Monster World games again. I picked up Sega Ages: Wonder Boy in Monster Land a few weeks ago. Then I replayed The Dragon's Trap. Now, I'm in the middle of Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. I still don't have Wonder Boy Returns Remix, but hoping I can pick it up on sale. Also, it's October, so I've been playing Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water again. It's too bad Nintendo and Koei Tecmo don't seem interested in bringing this series to Switch, but at least Yuri Kozukata made it into Smash Ultimate as an assist trophy. And no sooner did I say this than the producer of Fatal Frame expressed interest in making a new one for Switch (although, he's currently busy with another game): "Yeah, I do want to make a Fatal Frame on Switch. I think it’d be a ton of fun to play with the console in handheld mode and moving all around." ( Source)

My gaming has been a bit scattered lately.
I started a third playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, not really with the intention of finishing it, but rather just to have a fresh world to play around in. (Although, I've already beaten Vah Medoh. I have no intention of doing all 120 shrines again, tho.)
I've been grinding R-Type Dimensions since I've never actually legitimately beaten the original R-Type. (The Game Boy versions don't count.) I still can't do a recovery from the Stage 7 checkpoint, but at least Dimensions lets you restart a stage from the beginning.
Also, it's October, so I've been playing Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water again. It's too bad Nintendo and Koei Tecmo don't seem interested in bringing this series to Switch, but at least Yuri Kozukata made it into Smash Ultimate as an assist trophy.

And now, NCL has apologized for not being clear that the Switch version is based on the Western Wii U version, and for mistakenly showing screenshots of the uncensored version. They will be offering refunds for those who pre-ordered on the eShop in Japan.

According to GoNintendo, the Japanese version of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore will be based on the Western release, meaning it will include the censored content. I've seen elsewhere, tho, that some of the censorship may have been rolled back a bit. I guess we won't know the specifics until we're closer to release. Hopefully, they at least smooth it over a bit so it isn't as awkward (like how they actually moved a female character's belly button).

According to Nintendo Everything, the Atelier series seems to have been building up a fan base on Switch: Despite the challenges involved, Gust feels that it’s been worth supporting Switch with the Atelier series. Hosoi told us that sales have been increasing with each successive entry in the franchise on Nintendo’s console, so they “find that this is a good platform for us to have expanded onto.” Makes sense, I suppose. In less than two years, they've already released seven games on the Switch (with the Dusk trilogy on the way).

That's a shame it doesn't seem to be clicking for you. I'm still interested in trying it, myself, but with how long it's taking the English version to come out, it might end up getting pushed behind some other higher priority games.
Thanks for giving your impressions, tho.

Shouldn't this have its own thread by now? There is currently a week-long Twitter poll to see which of four new ship designs people like best (with the caveat that these are just proposals, and there are no guarantees they will make it into the game). You can read about the extra ships here.I ended up voting for the R-9uso800 APRIL FOOLS because I liked that it has a charge shot that apparently shows staff credits. Also, it's a fun reference to Irem's April Fools' jokes. I do like all the designs, tho.

Here's a Twinfinite interview with Yasuyuki Oda. It's mainly about Samurai Shodown, but he does give an update on the possibility of a new Metal Slug: Giuseppe: Let’s switch gears completely. When I interviewed you last year, we talked about Metal Slug and the possibility to bring it back. You told me you were undecided about whether modern gamers would accept the one-hit-death mechanic. How is that discussion go? Are you still discussing it? Are you actually working on a new Metal Slug now?
Yasuyuki Oda: Nothing is decided at the moment, nothing has actually been started, but we’re definitely in the phase where we started talking about “let’s bring it back. We want to bring it back.” The fans want it.
On whether we’d do the one-hit kill, there are still a lot of discussions about that, but I like the idea of maybe bringing two modes, perhaps with an easy mode with a life gauge.
But there is still a lot of discussion going on internally about that. We want to make sure we do it right.

I'm still waiting for Xseed to even announce a release date. They suddenly started promoting the game again a few weeks ago on Twitter, and they recently put it up for pre-order on their own website, as well as retailers, so it must be getting close, right?
