Never played Gaiden have you? That art is the most accurate one. I've not played it for long, and I don't remember it all that well. All I do remember is having a picture of the boxart AND a promo flyer, and Alm has green hair. Official promo artwork beats 8-bit sprites and game guide artwork (which is usually commissioned from someone outside of the games company) - at least when it comes to Smash designs. Although I do like using the sprites myself

No, I'm guessing she's like Hitmonlee from the original SSB... she'll aim for a character, but might miss if they move too much. Wild Lyn used HI JUMP KICK! Wild Lyn missed and took damage from the crash!

Lyn was one of my hopefuls to pop up in Brawl, so I'm glad she made it in some form, and in awesome fashion. While I did have hopes she was playable, I won't argue that there's some better choices for lords that are NOT sword users to pop up in Brawl. I just liked her character and design from FE7 the most out of the lords I've played (7 - 9). And I also agree with Flint - I had no clue who that female lord up there was, and I don't think a lot of people outside of Japan (outside of importers/diehard FE fans/Fryguy 64) would, so Lyn's appearance was very exciting for me. I can understand why some of you would prefer the other one, but there's still hope for some other FE characters to pop up. ^_^ Now let's get some Advance Wars love, Sakurai!

I agree with Flint. Obscured doesn't always equal better. I think Lyn was added becuase she was still popular, buit not worldwide like Marth and Ike are. So, he put her as an assist.
Now if you excuse me, I'm going to Nsiders. They are obsesive for Lyn, and with her has an assist, it will equal many LAWLZ.

Quoted from a chat I made the same speech from.
I have such mixed feelings about the update. Let me explain. Sora just blew their chance at the only other swordsmaster with a Japanese blade that comes to mind in most Nintendo fans DasherKoopa: She also can wield some armoslayers but mostly uses a katana.... the Mani Katti.
Yet now with Goroh out of the way and now Lady Lyndis stepping down from the chance of possible fighter (trust me, I'm not the only one who wanted her playable) the only katana swordfighter in Nintendo games that is a main character (and that I can think of) is Takamaru. And while I would have liked to see him, it was only when I thought lyn was possible. I don't find it cool a retro character could make it in over a lead character from a much more recognized series.
Lyndis was the first character Americans saw in a Fire Emblem game, as she greeted the game's tactician when he woke up and it put you in his/her eyes.S he may not have been the main character herself, but was one of the three leads... Fire Emblem cannot be represented by anything other than a hero or villain, I don't think a swordsman that is a minor character in FE or any other game, such as Karel or Guy, should be put in playable, of course.
On the news I try to stay on, positives...Lyn's model was done very well and gives a fresh yet true to original art look. She has her crit move, it seems, and did I mention it stays true to her appearance yet gives it a Smash FE feel? I do hope she gets a voice in some way, like a battle cry.
And Fryguy, Lyn is so not overrated, she's amazingly done and many focus more on Marth or Ike... she and Sigurd had my attention from the moment I heard of them.

...You're going to need to explain to me why it's important for there to be a katana user in the game. Because, other than to please rabid otakus, I'm not seeing one.
Fire Emblem's being represented by Ike. If there's going to be another, it's likely to be Marth. With Fire Emblem's lack of popularity compared to most of the other series in there, I really can't see them having three or more characters.

If anything, Sakurai will only add Marth and/or Sigurd as playables. He likes Sigurd. The rest of the lords (Alm, Celica, Leaf, Roy, Ephiram, etc.) could be Assists for equal distribution.

I'm not a Fire Emblem fan.
Nor am I a fan of the characters (they seem just too...serious for a Nintendo game)
Anyways, I prefer them as Assist trophies and maybe have one as a character (one character for each respectful series excluding major series).
But since Fire Emblem has so many fans, I can see them adding one more character, and that would be Marth.

I understand why popularity is important, but I doubt it meaning "everything", because look at Mr. Game & Watch, Pit, Popo, Nana, and Ness. They were obscure a short time before the Internet and the SSB series were first being used by many people outside of Japan, but they weren't obscure in Japan nor when they were fresh. Some lesser-known characters are dying for popularity, while some are perhaps obsolete. I'm not saying "Let there be a SSB title 100% full of obscure Nintendo characters." I'm saying "Let's introduce some obscure Nintendo characters to many people, so that they will no longer be obscure." If popularity is all we need, then lets even put in popular characters that lack or are low in fighting potential and/or style.

Because we have swordfighters, anthros, Christian Soldiers, knights, bounty hunters, racers, stealth masters, royalty, dinosaurs, and monkeys. All can in some way use fisticuffs. Japanese swordfighters are almost always in fighters and with these classes (sorta) I think it's important one shows up. Also Goroh and Lyn were fitting for playable, moreso Goroh as Lyn I don't hate as an AT as much, kinda like it in a way.

I don't really see the difference between a swordfighter and a katana user, to be honest.

There's a slight difference - enough for Soul Calibur to worry about, of course. But for Brawl, a speedy sword user could use a Katana or a Rapier and wouldn't amount to a lot of difference.
