Yes, you could on speculating forever, but even then the reality might be even better Especially if the creators of that reality are Nintendo!

And it's not entirely true that a Nintendo fan would hate to see any characters taken out. I'd like to see Dr. Mario and either Link or Young Link taken out because they're unnecessary. Luigi is a clone of Mario already, so why not do that, and bring Wario in. We don't need two Links, so why not drop one and replace him with... I dunno... Takamaru or something? Well Luigis not really a clone of Mario. Most of his moves a difference. And the one that are are just different variations of Marios moves,(there very different though). Anyway I like the clones just not to many of them. Also I'd rather see them add then subtract leave all 25(or 26 if you want to get technical)in there and add more. And as far as Characters go they should use more known characters like I've never heard(or rememberd) hereing about Takamaru.

Takamaru is the hero of Japan only Famicom Disk System game Nazo no Murasamejou. He's a sword-wielding, ninja-star-throwing samurai. There's not one of them yet.

You are right but still not as well known, but it neverhurts to have a lesser known character in SSB anyway.

4 swordsmen in SSBM was just too much (not that I don't love playing as them). Link and Marth were enough. But Takamaru would be a more welcome addition than Roy or Young Link, but not if he was put in as a clone too.

I would like to see Issac and Meta-knight but Im preety much happy w/ whos ever in the next one(Still 4 months till E3 uggg )) Heh, I'm still recovering from last year's E3, where I suddenly became overwhelmed with new game information to put up. I'm going to have to get a "future releases" format in place before E3 starts, or I'll end up all over the place once again.

Bummer Well thye Revolution will be shown this E3 so you'll have to start early(good luck with it by the way) But it has it's perks. You have the best nintendo reference site on the web(I use it for all my old nintendo info and some new too).

SPECIAL MOVES
B: Sacred Bow Press and hold the B Button to pull back the arrow and press B again to fire the arrow. If you hold the B Button until the arrow’s point glows, the arrow will fly farther and straighter.
If you hold the B Button, you can change the angle of the arrow by moving the Control Stick. It can be between the default angle (straight ahead) to straight above.
There are four different arrows Pit can randomly shoot, each ranging in different power. The weakest is the common Wooden Arrow that will deliver 3-6% damage. The less common stronger arrow is the Fire Arrow that will give 7-12% damage.
The second strongest arrow Pit can use is the second rare Strength Arrow that delivers 13-18% damage. The strongest of all arrows is the rare Light Arrow that delivers 19-25% damage.
Smash B: Firestarter Push the Control Stick in the direction of an opponent, then press B to have Pit blow his torch. The torch will shoot three fireballs in three different angles front of Pit (0, 30, and 60 degrees).
If a fireball hits an opponent, the fireball will burn for a few seconds while slowly causing damage, hence the move’s name, Firestarter. All five fireballs are weaker than Ness’ PK Fire.
Up B: Angel of Fire Pit’s third jump is a high-flying, torch-swinging move that gives him big air and damages nearby enemies at the same time. Use it to return to the stage after you’re unable to float any longer.
To start the Angel of Fire move, press Up and B to have Pit pull out his flaming torch. While Pit sets himself in fire, use the Control Stick to aim his blazing attack. This move is very much like Fox’s Fire Fox move, only more farther, hence the move’s name, Angel of Fire.
Down B: Mirror Shield If your foe is about to shoot projectiles, press and hold Down on Control Stick and the B Button to raise the Mirror Shield. This move will work when you are facing the oncoming projectiles and thrown items.
If your timing is right, Pit will absorb energy attacks and turns them into beams that will shoot out from the shield at your foes. And if the beams hit, the foe will receive twice the damage and turned into stone, immobile for a few seconds.
If you use the shield to reflect the thrown items, it will just return the items back to your enemies with twice the power but will not be turn the foe into stone. It is both an offensive and defensive move.
____________________________________________
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
Pit is slightly shorter and little bit smaller than Link. Pit is slightly heavier and little bit stronger than Peach. Pit runs slightly faster than Link. And Pit’s throw moves are very alike to Link’s.
Pit is one of the best jumpers. Pit can float like Peach. He uses his Wings of Pegasus to float. Pit’s floating ability will help Pit since he can easily get thrown off the stage like Peach.
Pit’s Sacred Bow is very useful since he can hit his rivals in a range between 0 degrees to 90 degrees. His Fire Arrows are slightly stronger than Pit’s fireballs. But Pit’s Firestarter move is very useful for hitting multiple opponents. Keep in mind that Pit’s torch and fire-related moves have green flames, not red flames.

Firstly, I think that clones should be modified or deleted. They just provide bugs for Multi-Man Melee.
Then, they should have been entering more from Kirby and DK series. Especially for Kirby - Smash Bros series is made by HAL Labs! Having Wario is also a good idea.
Also, cross out some Mario characters - that's just too much! 5 is enough! (That means, delete Dr Mario)
I've heard somebody that want to see Golden Sun characters inside, but then that's another copyright issue.

Golden Sun is not another copyright issue, as the games, characters and all that are owned by Camelot and Nintendo. If Camelot agreed to their inclusion (and no reason why not) then they could be used. Simple as that... no different to using Marth, Kirby or any other character by a second-party.

In my opinion, I think that this would be a great idea, but it should be an underground project, perhaps an anticipation project for those who want a new SSBM. But I don't think it would do well.
I'd prefer the Urban Champion and Little Mac, because those two are great side-view fighting games. Alex, from River City Ransom would be awesome aswell.
Besides, RCR was recently rereleased on the gameboy advance, was it not?
