This has started to go around in circles people...
I say what I want, Fryguy says what he wants, Smaschu disagrees and says what he wants, I disagree with Smashchu and re-iterate what I want, DIU agrees partly with me and Fryguy and adds what he wants, Smaschu disagrees and says what he wants...
This will go on until the end of time if we don't stop - I assure you.
Perhaps we should agree to disagree on this one, and wait to see what Nintendo delivers in the next installment.

Yes, I am talking about Goku from Yuu Yuu Ki who is, admittedly, very much like the Dragonball Goku, except he looks more like a monkey... and his story is a lot more grounded in the original story the game is based on. I thought that 9-Volt from WarioWare could be good, and he could attack using old Nintendo toys and collectables... like the Ultra Hand, Light Gun, etc. That, and he's clearly the best WarioWare character (maybe throw in 18-Volt for an Ice Climbers-style combo)

Oh yeah, and it will go on either forever, or until Nintendo announces a sequel.

Sure, its going around in circles, but, meh, its a discussion about a game that for all we know may not even exist, but everyone is interested in. So lets continue, shall we? Firstly, you say not to use side characters, but then you say to throw in 9-Volt? I'm confroozled. That would be interesting, though, but I think those types of things would work better as weapons. We already have the Super Scope and Light Gun, so Power Gloves could work well (extra throwing ability, maybe?). Regarding the list posted a little while back: Wario,Diddy,Pit,Olimar,Ridley,Meta-Kight,Samurai Gohor. - see past post. Another StarFox character(Slippy,Krystal,or Wolf) - maybe Wolf if they want some bad guys (he's the rival, right?) Another Fire Emblem(on from 4 since it was the best Fire Emblem according to most ppl) - Do they have to? Come on, 2 is enough. Another Pokemon(One from R/S I would like to see Kyrogor( hope i spelled it right)but he might be to big) - I've commented on Pokeomn before, too. Another Zelda if you can think of a good one(the best ones I've though up so far are Malon[next most seen zelda character and could have some odd but original moves]and Tingel[not by popular demand]) - Tingle would rock, in a strange sort of way. But I still think the 4 should be Link, YL, Z/S and Gannondorf. Another franchise(Clu clu land and Golden Sun[if its nintendo]are good but maybe Advance Wars oh and Ballon Fighter) - You say that like you just want one extra franchise. There should be as many extra franchises as possible.
Maybe another GOOD mario character(Toad, also since poeple want to make the Racoon costom just make it its own character as Racoon Mario[just a tought]) - Toad is useless. Here comes his "congratulations, but your princess is in another castle attack"! And don't forget his "the princess has been kidnapped!" attack. And Racoon Mario?! Yuk. If they decide to make another Mario character, I still say they could do very well with Paper Mario. Tons of original moves he could use, and would also have some cool stats thanks to being a sheet of paper.
Maybe Wario Ware(as I said befor popular fan base I would put Jimmy put people have said Kat&Ana are good) - What moves would Jimmy have, anyway? Kat & Ana could have moves, but, nah.
Ditto - would be OK, but kinda lame. I prefer the Ditto from a pokeball thing that was going to be in SSBM.
(these are obviously only my opinions - agree, disagree, I really don't care).

I am wholly in support of a Golden Sun character taking a character spot in an SSB game. A magic-wielding warrior? Beautiful.
I only say 9-Volt because who else would use classic Nintendo toys to fight? Mr. Game & Watch was a silly excuse for Game & Watch style attacks... and so 9-Volt is my excuse for collectable attacks (though the Power Glove was actually made by Mattel, not Nintendo)

So your not talking about Dragonball goku good. then all is well. Anyway If you want to know since Jimmy's a Dancer he could well Dance(I guess). Also Zelda and Fire Emblem are piopular Nintendo series and(from what I've heard) the American SSB fan want Lyn(but I dont think Hal cares as much for America) and is still popular in Japan.. Question Issac or Felix would be cool for SSB but can they be put into SSB. It was published by Nintendo but Developed by Camelot. Camelot really isn't owed by Nintendo. Now If you were to ask me what I would like in SSB it would be More Characters more Courses new one player modes and Multiplayer modes(like new Special Melees) and Online play oh and New Moves. I think things like Coustoms(srry to bring this up aging) would not be that great for a Game like SSB. Also In my eyes only 2-3(maybe 4) new Franchises, theres a lot off Franchises and I dont think that in a group of 12 new characters there are 10 new franchises.

Who mentioned custom characters?
9-Volt would be good for a collectable-based character, but since 2 of Nintendo's guns are already weapons, I personally think all those things would work better as weapons.

I've explained this already.... Nintendo has a share of the rights to Golden Sun in the same way that they have a share in the rights to Kirby and Pokemon. Camelot isn't owned by Nintendo, but neither are HAL Laboratory and Game Freak.
There is no reason why Golden Sun couldn't be included, and Pikachu, for instance, could!

On the same note, what about Geist? I know it is being developed by N-Space, by how do they relate to Nintendo? Geist (or whatever the main character is called) could be a great character.

I think Nintendo actually hired nSpace to develop a first-person shooter, so I wouldn't be surprised if Geist was another shared ownership property.

I'll throw in my two cents.
Keep the SSB:M cast. Don't dump anyone (except maybe Young Link and Dr. Mario). Revise the clones (Ganondorf shouldn't be a Falcon clone) and so forth. As who to add.
Mario Franchise - Nobody. Maybe Waluigi, but there's enough already.
Zelda Franchise - No special need for more Zelda characters. Maybe Vaati. Ganondorf should either be able to turn into Ganon or be replaced by him.
Donkey Kong Franchise - I'd consider Diddy & Dixie, as a Ice Climber type duo. Only I'd allow for you to 'switch' who is in lead to give them a different set of moves. One of the DKJB kongs would be cool, but they're too obscure for now. K. Rool might be an interesting addition as another heavy-weight.
Wario Franchise - I concur with the idea of 9-Volt. Since the Super-Scope is an item, he should have the Zapper at least...
Star Fox Franchise - Keep Fox and Falco. I'd throw in Krystal for the sake of more female characters. Wolf might be a good Fox clone.
F-Zero Franchise - No comment, but another pilot or two couldn't hurt.
Kirby Franchise - King Dede and Metaknight, I suppose. I don't really play these...
Pokemon Franchise- Maybe a new pokemon from one of the latest games, but aside from that? We've got enough. (I'd venture suggesting dropping Pichu)
Fire Emblem Franchise- Haven't played them, but on of the more recent FE heroes wouldn't hurt.
Metroid Franchise- Somehow, some way... Ridley has to appear. I wish there was a major Space Pirate character to use instead though. An Omega Metroid or something could also be considered. (It IS called Metroid after all)
Earthbound Franchise - Maybe one other EB character. But being a dead series, I don't place much priority on it.
Other Franchises - Pit (From Kid Icarus), Some Advance Wars characters (I'd suggest Andy/Sami/Max and Sturm), Captain Olimar (Pikmin, dunno how... but he deserves it) and Little Mac (Punch-Out). As cool as other characters would be (Bubbles, Mike Jones, Mr. Stevenson, etc...) would be, I don't place them on mych priority.

Good lord, you managed to completely miss Professor Hector from your list Masamune! And I know you love him Mr. Stevenson would make a cool trophy, but I think aside from a machine gun all he has is the ability to get shot (and jump like Luigi in SMB2 )

Trophies are cool, but we need something that takes this collection aspect to a new level. Don't ask me how, I don't know, but a whole bunch of new trophies (some of which would inevitably overlap with the SSBM ones) could be more of the same, and not enough of the new, maybe.
Masamune makes some good suggestions there. As for Olimar, here's what I think. Make each of his moves utilise a different coloured Pikmin - you know with Mr. G&W he uses items for each move? Make Olimar like this. Punch could swing a red pikmin. Power attacks could include throwing a purple pikmin at en enemy to hurt them, using white pikmin to poison, etc. - it's just a possibility I thought I'd suggest.
Over.

I don't think trophies should come back, either (at least not in this version - they would be fine every 2 or 3 versions, I guess (getting really ahead of myself now)), so I think a possible solution is Nintendo games. Not playable games, but rather a picture of the box, the cartridge / disk, and some info on the game, including a basic story, who developed it, and any interesting facts (such as First starring roles for the game's main characters).
As for Olimar, I still think he should be followed by some Pikmin (10 sounds fine, 2 of each colour) and that his attacks should be a combination of a) The more Pikmin following, the stronger the attack b) A certain number of Pikmin is required for an attack c) Different Pikmin do different amounts of damage.
I will comment on the other list, and maybe try to think of my own, once I finish the 1500 word essay I need to start and finish by tomorrow. And with that, I'm off!
